Horrible service, I went in for Gel polish for hands and toes.. ended up leaving with dents in my toes from over drilling the polish that one of them started, had two people try servicing and neither listened to my concerns about the drill burning ... This place is so gross. Every surface and station is dirty. I have been to over 50 nail salons while traveling and I have NEVER seen somewhere quite as gross. The lady left nail acrylic all over my fingers. Unfortunately that's not even the worst part. Once she applied the initial coat prior to the acrylic my fingers and nails began to burn. Apparently this is a common thing for her and she had alcohol in a drip bottle she continually used to "cool" the fingers. She told me it happens to more than just myself. I was terrified. The girl next to me was getting her ingrown toe nail ripped off. That's not okay! The equipment was dirty and the foot bath was just cold water. Nothing else. Walked past the wax pot on my way to the bathroom and almost gagged. Male staff were polite-ish, but they did the bare minimum. Me and someone else went here together. I got a full mani and they got a new gel color put on. My french tips all look different from the rest. I couldn't communicate with my tech because he was hard to understand. My nails are uneven as well. As for the person I was with, they tried to dermal the original gel color off which hurt her and they just covered up the rest with the new color so if you look at them from underneath they still show through the old color in ugly patches while the top looks fine read more

New to Palatka, called ALL the nail salons in the area and Modern Nails was the ONLY salon that does the dipping powder. I wore acrylics for years (not as natural looking), then gel (Yes, natural looking BUT not healthy for nails and does not last as long). Nina, my manicurist in Virginia recommended the new dip method and I've been hooked ever since. As a new homeowner I am very hard on my hands with renovations & now post Hurricane Irma cleanup! Lovely reception when I arrived at Modern Nails. By the end of my visit, I felt Rosie, Mimi and the rest of the gang were new friends. Did a great job on my nails, lasts forever and is my go-to place. No wine or beer served as in the foofoo salons in the big city but I come here for my dip not to drink. read more

I like this place. I've been getting my nails done for years, fills for my hands and pedis for my feet and this place is comfortable and friendly. I've been to many nail salons in different states and this is my salon in Palatka for sure. I do not understand the negative reviews I'm seeing here so I have to comment. I don't usually make post like this, but as I sit in my truck outside of Modern Nails I am a palled by what just occurred. I just had a fill-ins done a week ago yesterday. Mimi the one who runs the salon said she wanted to try something different on my fill-in and I let her. This is my second trip back with my nails lifting in a week, so she told me that since I'm having so much trouble with my nails lifting she does not want me coming back to the salon anymore. I have been coming to this nail salon for 6+ years getting full sets, Fill-ins, Lots of pretty extras on my nails not to mention the monthly full spa pedicures. so, because she decided to do my fill in different this time and there has been two issues that I have been inconvenienced with and I politely came back with no attitude just asking for it to be repaired she has turned me away as a customer. It's all good for me though my money will spend just the same at another salon, as there are plenty more here in Palatka. I left with a smile and told her to have a blessed day and a wonderful weekend the same as I would any other time when I left. read more

This was my first manicure and to put it bluntly, I am very disappointed. None of the procedures I have seen on You Tube by professional nail techs were performed. The temperature was uncomfortably hot inside the salon. The chairs and stations were uncomfortable. The girl did not sanitize my nails, hands, or tools. All tools showed severe signs of use with no evidence of cleaning or sanitation. The tech did not push my cuticles back. She put tips on my nails despite the fact that my natural nails are very short, almost non existent. This has caused the smile line on each nail to be at different placement. Some are just slightly above the cuticle. She dusted my nails after filing, only once. She used a severely worn kabuki makeup brush to dust. The station was not clean. There was dust and hair scattered. When she applied the powder to my nails, she blew the excess off the brush with little care of contamination. The tech was very sloppy and hurried with her work and seemed more intent on talking in another language with one of the workers. The tech spoke very little discernible English. The UV light casing was old, cracked, and in need of, at the very least, a thorough cleaning and disinfecting. I will not be visiting this salon again. In face, I am conducting very intensive research to find a salon that follows proper safety precautions and is knowledgeable and professional. If I could give this salon 0 stars, I would. I recommend staying away from this one. All I can say is... Lesson Learned. read more
