Luckily, I found Northshore Alterations right across the street from the Food City in Bearden and they were excellent. The owner measured, and pinned all of my pants and got to the alterations quickly and did an excellent job. I had lost my previous alterations store so to a move out of state and was thrilled to find Northshore Alterations. They have dozens of different colors of thread to match your item perfectly and she was very pleasant to deal with and the alterations were done when expected. She only accepts cash or check and this was not discussed via our text convo or when we discussed me picking up. So I had to leave and go get cash (which during Covid would appear to be more of a hassle than it ever should be) 3. Hard to find. The sign is in the front and the only entrance is around the back of the building on the bottom by the hair salon. I would've rather not have had to drive over, to see a sign with a different phone # and different hours of operations. But I do understand that not everyone is tech savvy & probably doesn't do much social media. Pros: 1. Quick response: I text the # listed on the door and got a prompt response for an apt the next day. 2. Appointments: She is doing appointments only due to Covid. I wore a mask, she wore a mask and no one else was inside during any of my visit. I had the lining of a dress for a wedding I'm attending hemmed. 3. Quick turnaround: My apt was on Tue., and I was able to pick up Fri. morning. I will say that almost $18 for the liner to be hemmed seemed a bit steep to me. I worked in prom & bridal for a long time & that typically ran $10-12. It was a very simple fabric as well. But I'm happy with the quick turnaround. She was there when she said. I write this review to hopefully prevent another customer service disaster like I had there today. If you don't have an issue, you won't know and good for you! The dress was not ready the day the husband promised on 7/25. He knew I wanted to pick up earlier since it's for a very important event. After several calls and attempts to pick up in the days after 7/25, the husband continued telling me that it wasn't ready, that they were working on a wedding dress. I'm sorry, but I don't really care about excuses. Anyway, we were finally able to pick up a week late. The waist up fit perfectly fine when I dropped off, and was NOT supposed to be altered. Now I cannot zip it up. Called to explain the issue and the husband giggles and tells me just come in and they'll see what they can do. Not considering or caring that I'm 1/2 hr away and my schedule is tight. I get there and they talk over each other the whole time making it very difficult to have any sort of conversation, but suffice it to say that they both kept denying that they altered the top of the dress. I saw what appeared to be chalk markings near the zipper and the sides, which is usually how they mark for altering, and pointed that out. They both responded louldy while the wife was wiping it off, denying they marked the dress. It was almost controlled chaos. I had just purchased the dress and brought to them with no markings. THEY THEN TOLD ME I MUST HAVE GAINED WEIGHT. I did not, as proven by the fact that the hip area where wife altered the dress fit perfectly, which they kept telling me. How could that be if I gained weight? It couldn't. I was obviously upset, asking them what they were going to do about it. The man told me that they could take it out on top, but that would be another alteration, ie I would need to pay for that which was ridiculous, like the whole experience. But the wife then told me there was no way to take it out.They continued talking at me, both at the same time, and the husband was laughing and smiling. It was a nightmare, they did nothing for me except lie to me and ruin my dress, cause me a lot of stress and financial distress. I am out a lot of money and need to go find another dress in two days and spend more money. If you have had a similar issue at this business, please contact me.

My daughter's custom wedding dress was altered in all the wrong ways by a seamstress in Alaska, leaving us desperate for a fix. We had two days before her wedding after travelling from out of town to get the dress fixed. Elizabeth heard of our dilemma and reached out with an offer to help. In those two days, we had 3 fittings and gradual changes until the result was better than the original dress! Despite the short turn-around, they were content with nothing less than exactly what we wanted in every respect. Elizabeth and Alexis are a dynamic team of expertise when it comes to creative solutions, fitting, and sewing. They put on an invisible 7-point bustle that was perfect for the dress. In between working on the dress, they fixed a second dress for the night before event. The prices are quite reasonable, but the results are exceptional. I guarantee that no wedding dress boutique in Knoxville (or anywhere for that matter) will give the amount of time and thought to a wedding dress fitting than Seams Like Magic does!
