I've had a couple of frustrating experiences with the service department. The work itself seems solid, but my concern is the trustworthiness of the overall service experience During my most recent visit for an antenna repair, I was billed for two hours of labor even though I was at the shop for less than an hour (my appointment was at 2:30 PM and I was checking out around 3:20 PM). When I asked for clarification, the advisor avoided giving a meaningful explanation. I had to point out that the labor charge of $165 didn't align with the stated hourly rate of ~$80, and that there was no way two hours of work had been performed. After I raised this point multiple times, he stepped away to "double check" my appointment time and then returned with an updated, lower bill. No apology was offered, and the advisor seemed annoyed with me. Overall, the interaction left me with the impression that my concerns were unwelcome and made me question whether the original charge was truly a mistake. This is the second time my bill has come out significantly higher than expected. On both visits, when I asked for clarification, I felt stonewalled. The advisor would simply read the receipt back to me rather than explain the charges. I understand that shops may use standard labor times, but that was never clearly communicated. Instead it felt like I wasn't being taken seriously, particularly as someone who may not appear especially knowledgeable about cars. I had the distinct impression that my husband might have been treated differently for the same issue I'm new to the area and have had consistently transparent, positive experiences with Toyota service departments in the past, which made this especially disappointing. Overall, I'm uncomfortable with the lack of transparency and the need to advocate so strongly just to receive a clear explanation. I don't feel confident that I was treated fairly, and I'll likely go elsewhere for service in the future. I should have learned my lesson when I brought my car in for an oil change, told them I'd wait for it when they said it would only be an hour and then ended up stuck there for 4 hours. This time I dropped off my car at 10am for new tires, when I called at 3:30 they told me it would be done by 4:30 and I had to pick it up by 5:30. I had to leave a meeting early to rush down there only to find out that it wasnt done, they made me wait there an extra 30 minutes only to tell me I'd have to come back the next day for pick up. When I complained I was told that this was the standard for dealerships in the area and the appointment time means absolutely nothing. It was also over a 30 minute wait for the rental car as the woman skipped over us because I Went to the bathroom at the exact wrong time and for some reason she decided my husband (who was waiting close to the rental area) couldn't be asked. read more

Be very careful dealing with these people. Incompetence? Mendacity? Both? We submitted an on-line request to sell our vehicle. They requested photos, which were sent, including 2 closeups of damaged areas. They returned with offer of $14000. We took the vehicle in and it was checked by their appraiser, who then offered $10000 citing "undisclosed damage". There followed a series of changing excuses - "no photos seen", OK, photos seen, but not the closeups, "Do you know how much it will cost to fix the damage" (then quoting retail rates rather than in-house repair rates) - involving 3 or more managers who would talk among themselves several times before engaging us. We had wasted enough time with them talking in circles, and walked out - sold the vehicle elsewhere in 30 minutes for $13000 "damage" and all. Remember, these people practice gaslighting every day, while we usually only deal with such transactions once every 4 or 5 years. Be very careful dealing with these people. read more

The day before leaving for a 4 day trip from Winston Salem to Colorado my car didn't start although my lights were strong so I wasn't sure if it was the battery. After about 2 hrs I turned the engine on again and it started with no problem. I called Modern Toyota even though they didn't have good reviews because it was the only Toyota service close to my son's house. As soon as I explained the situation to Scott he assumed me that it was the battery even though I mentioned about the lights. End of story, Scott said it was not necessary to put the car in the computer because the problem was the battery. I was charged $281, but 4 days later I had the same problem ( luckily I was already home) but the issue was the starter and not the battery. The 2 stars is because they took my car in the next day but I would never go back to them. read more

The amenities are nice but the wait is long even if you have an appointment. We were told it would take up to an hour and a half for a tire rotation and a multipoint inspection and we had an appointment. They do have nice working spacing if you need to work and complimentary cokes, waters and coffees. read more

William Beck was extremely rude and disorganised for my standard oil change included in my service package. I arrived on time for my appointment and stood around for about 10 minutes waiting for one of the 5 different guys standing around to acknowledge me and receive my car for service. Finally I just asked one randomly if they could help me get signed in. It was William. He said he'd be with me in a minute. Ten more minutes later he finally walks over and asks if I'm going to be staying with itz I say no, and ask if I can come back to pick up later. He interrupts me to say no cause they are only going to be open for 30 more minutes, and they can leave them with sales if I'm coming back later. I say, so youre going to finish my oil change in 30 minutes? He says yep. I stay. An hour later I need to go pickup my kid from daycare, so my partner drives me to do that. William calls me while we are on the way to the daycare and says they're finished. He will leave the keys paperwork etc with the sales manager. He says he will send me via text the link to pay. I say there shouldnt be any charge because I have a service contract. He says he didnt see it and will need to call me back. Hangs up before I can say ok. I had been keeping it together and wasnt sure why I was being treated so rudely during all of this. Then he calls me back and says yes, no charge, service contract was found. My partner drives me back to pick up my car. I walk in and up to the info desk and tell the lady there I am here to pick up my car and William said my keys would be with the sales manager. She looks around clueless and says I only have keys for someone else. (I'd later realise she wasnt the sales manager but also instead of pointing me towards them she instead takes me into the service bay and talks to some other guy.) I get directed to sit in the waiting area again, that William is still on site and maybe hadnt taken the keys out yet to the waiting area...despite about 40 minutes having gone by between him calling me and saying it was ready and me arriving for pick up. I get frustrated as I dont want to wait anymore and have been treated so poorly. I wait 10 more minutes and ask another employee. He goes and finds William and out he comes where he yells at me "I told you sales manager!" Nothing else. I start to explain that I asked the information desk and he just turns and starts walking away from me towards the sales desk. Grabs the keys shoves them towards me and says nothing else. I understand it was late in the day but they called me to say it was ready. I dont deserve to be treated the way I was for just wanting me car. Anyway, the whole thing took 2 hours, and I was treated like sh*t by everyone I interacted with. read more

I originally drove a CRV. I scheduled an appointment online in advance to test drive a red one. I test drove it and I wasn't really 100% sold. Mainly because the 2023 was a bit dated on the inside, and the 2024 was coming out later in the year. Decisions...decisions... My salesman, Richard Maurais, was very knowledgeable and he wasn't "pushy." He said hey why don't we try some other cars. I said hey, why not. I test drove a RAV4 Hybrid and immediately fell in love with it. I know big difference from what I went in there for, but just the specs made more sense for me. The catch with the one I test drove was that I wasn't that impressed by the color. Rich said hey let me look for the color you want and I'll let you know. I didn't know it was that difficult to find cars these days. I read some horror stories after I left and I got really nervous, but he contacted me about 3 days later and he said hey I have the style you want...in magnetic gray. I was a little skeptical, but he was right! Oh man, this car is sweet. It arrived the day he told me it would (less than 2 weeks)...actually it came sooner. Buying the car was a very easy process when you are prepared and have all of your documentation. The Sales Manager was friendly and professional. I traded my car in and they took care of all of that. I have been driving the car for a little over a month. It is great on gas, has enough horsepower, comfortable seats and the technology is enough for me...LOVE IT! The Toyota app is easy to use. They even scheduled my first car service before I left. He walked me through everything so I was comfortable with driving it home. Stellar 5 star customer service. This may be weird but I like the layout of the building. People aren't on top of each other and the lounge area looked comfortable while you wait for service. read more

Had an appointment for State Inspection at 10:45 AM. I arrived at Modern Toyota prior the that. Told service personal that I only wanted a State Inspection which should only take only about twenty minutes to complete. Never heard from Service Write who checked me in concerning the inspection. A little after noon I stopped Richard a service personnel to asked him to see what status. He returned about five minutes later to tell me my Service Writer Timothy,who handles my car was out to lunch. He then told me I need a battery at the price of $280 and a cabin filter at the price of $80.00. Today I took my car to two independent parts house to have the battery checked. Both told me that there is nothing wrong with my battery. As far as the cabin filter I paid less than ten dollars for a replacement and it took me less than ten minutes to install. read more

I received a call 90 minutes in that they forgot to take the truck to the shop after check-in, and told it would be done in 45 minutes. 90 minutes later with no update, I found one of the service reps and asked for an update. I've been coming here since 2020 when I bought my truck. The staff is always informative and the waiting area is well kept and comfortable with complementary coke, diet coke, and water avaliable while you wait. The prices are a little steep but you get what you pay for.
