Im a contractor in starke county. My clients at basslake needed a large vanity top i had them go to momax like i normally do. They reported back to me that they were not pleased at how they were treated when they went to pick out slab. They were asked to come back another day multiple times and they insisted to just pick it out and be done. The top got installed and the actually installation of gop was precise, but next day i noticed the top drawer fronts on all cabinets was badly scuffed. Sent pics and the feild manager was not easy to deal with or even talk to. Very agressive and rude, and denied any responsibility. Stating they made NO MISTAKES EVER. Paid over $6000 for Quartz counter tops from MOMAX in merrillville indiana for a 2 year old house and the counter tops pulled away from the wall along with the cabinets about a 1/2 inch ....we called MOMAX and they told us to call a contractor for extra bracing for the cabinets...YOU WOULD THINK THAT MOMAX ARE THE INSTALLERS and they should either tell you before the installation of the counter tops that more bracing is needed or offer more bracing and charge you for the extra bracing that is needed..THEY TOLD US THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE SO BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

Buyer beware. This company is literally the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They were contracted to put in soapstone counters and a quartz peninsula. Every aspect of the service--quality of materials, cutting and beveling, problems with literally every single stone in the kitchen, timeliness, customer service--was abysmal. After having them out four times, I finally sat down to read yelp reviews and realized that they will not make things right. Their first install, the quartz countertop that was cut so unevenly that there were gaping gaps at both sides and the counter was installed so crookedly that the overhang varied by 3/4" from one end of the counter to the other. When they came out the second time, the "correction" was still uneven. I'm attaching a picture, which their manager said looked fine to him. While they advertise that soapstone is an option, they simply don't know how to cut or bevel it. Our beveled edges remind me of what my 17 year old son might do on his first day of shop class before listening to how to use the machine--uneven all over, clearly deeper bevels where there were mistakes. Despite measuring with a laser and having the specs of the cooktop, they miscut the counters so that the cooktop couldn't fit in all the way. Every single piece of backsplash lip was chipped, some bulged out from the wall because they hadn't been cut at a 90 degree angle to sit perpendicularly on the counter, and every seam was sloppy and uneven. Again, it reminded me of a child doing a craft project without adult supervision. In the one place where we have counter going right up against a cabinet with no backsplash, there was a visible chip along the edge. The job was so obviously appalling, but we were sure that when we had them out the second time to fix things, all would be made right. Wrong. The guy came in and immediately made excuses for every shoddy piece of workmanship. Our walls were uneven (isn't that what a laser is for measuring?), soapstone is soft, the uneven bevels weren't human error because it's all done by machine, and it was our fault that they didn't cut around the stovetop space correctly because we didn't have the cooktop out (because it's supposed to go on top of the counters). The guy was belligerent, unapologetic, and demeaning. He conveniently "forgot" to tell his boss about the chipped counters, did a half-hearted job making the quartz peninsula a little better instead of offering to recut an intact piece like we had paid for, and left. The third time they came out, the same guy replaced the chipped backsplash with other chipped pieces of backsplash, ripped up our wall when he tore the backsplash off, left a mess, and when we came in and pointed out the broken edges, he told us that there was no more stone and he couldn't fix things. He also swiped something over the jaggedly cut counter as if that was a good enough fix. He gave my husband the same crappy excuses he gave me and said the awful beveling couldn't be fixed. Right, because they'd have to tear out the counters they damaged with their poor machinework and replace them, and that wasn't an option for them. We asked that the jerks who had come the past two times not come a fourth time, when we asked the shop manager to come out. He showed up with the guys we said we didn't want back in our house, and after looking around, he said he thought it looked fine and gave us almost word for word the exact same excuses the previous guy had given us. They recut the quartz for a third time--now definitely shorter overhang than we had planned--and though it's still not snug up along the wall, they said this was the best they could do. Instead of replacing our chipped backsplash, they siliconed everything and told us that was good enough. They were the rudest group of men I have ever had in my home. Timeliness--for our 2nd and 3rd times, they gave us a two hour window and then showed up significantly after that window. The 3rd time, I had told them when I had to go do school pickup, they showed up after I left, then didn't wait for me to get back, saying they'd go to another job. I came home and waited around for them to come back hours later. There was no apology, just excuses (construction, etc) as if we don't all have Maps that tells us exactly how long it will take us to get anywhere. What boggles my mind is how this place can stay in business. This was our third kitchen remodel. In CA, our quartz counters were cut correctly and sat cleanly along the wall and hung an even amount over the sides. In Iowa, our contractors were able to cut, bevel, and install our soapstone with nary a chip or gouged edge. The biggest excuse here kept being the quality of the stone, so apparently Momax doesn't use good quality materials. They do have the distinction of being the only business that has made me cry after doing work in my home. read more

I would never recommend Momax. It has been a nightmare. They measured our sink incorrectly and it Kept sliding around. We complained about it to the cabinet company who contracted them out and the salesman / designer did not help. When the sink fell completely out of the countertop that Momax also installed Momax charged us $150.00 to have it installed again. They not only measured incorrectly, it was only connected in 3 corners. read more

I really don't like writing bad reviews but if I feel it's warranted, I get to it! My husband and I had initially visited Momax in Merrillville meeting up with a pretty nice guy [Josh I believe] ... however they have awful response service. WE had to call numerous times, and despite visiting them a second time, still no email or calls were being replied to; even after stating they would get back to us. They would say Josh is out on the field and we'll email or call you with a reply. Nuttin! We had high hopes of getting our kitchen and laundry room completed with Momax but we just couldn't get them to work with us. We finally gave up and searched out another local countertop company and simply fell in love with Prestige Custom Stone. [we do have connects in Illinois, but preferred to keep it local]. We are happy to say Prestige Stone were amazing to work with and we couldn't be happier with their work!!! Thank you Momax, you did us a favor sending us elsewhere! read more

As soon as I walked into Momax, I could tell they were going to be a good fit for me. I showed them my measurements and I got a quote the next day. they are fairly priced, anything that says "in stock" is in their warehouse. They came out shortly after to measure. I got my quote, paid half down and then was called to set up an appointment for them to come out and install the countertops. They turned out amazing! The 3 guys that came out asked me all of the questions, REMEMBER COMMUNICATION IS KEY! I truly appreciated this with this being a new build and something I have never done before. the guys were very professional, very clean, and very knowledgeable! I was surprised at the number of negative reviews since my experience was so dramatically different. The team was extremely professional not to mention friendly, courteous and helpful. I didn't go to Momax with the intention to buy, but to get prices. I had been to one of the big hardware stores, got their price and Momax was second on my list. My first contact was Fabian who walked me through the business and showed me the process. Next he took me outside to see the slabs. I had an idea of what I wanted but wasn't sure, so he asked me about the layout of my kitchen and the color of my cabinets, and based on that he advised me, within the slabs that I liked, which ones would best fit my needs. He was never pushy or insistent. He was, though, very informative and helpful. Once inside, the price I got was lower than the hardware store, so I saw no reason to continue my search. Everything I wanted was right there. Momax does everything in-house, where the hardware store had to subcontract the work, which could be one of the reasons Momax had the better price. My kitchen now looks fabulous. I couldn't believe what a huge difference those granite counter tops make. I catch myself just standing in the kitchen admiring them. And by the way, I also did my bathrooms. Now they also look fabulous. My advice to you is, if you have the funds, go for it. You won't regret it. read more

A team was sent out, the piece was removed, polished and reinstalled beautifully. We couldn't be happier with the quality of the product and the service that we received. I was encouraged to call Blink Appliances for a quote by someone installing cabinets and countertops. I e-mailed a drawing with my measurements of my cabinets for a quote on quartz countertops. After a few weeks I called to ask on the quote. Later that day I received it and within a few days I went to Momax and talked with a very friendly woman there and picked out the quartz to be used. The price was about the same per square footage as quoted. I then gave half down to start the process of them coming out to measure for the countertops. The quote changed when they added sales tax! I know that sales tax is part of life, but why wasn't that included on my quote? The man came out and measured for the tops and had a seam shown on the drawing. I called Blink and said we did not expect a seam or want one. They contacted Momax who forwarded something I was to sign before they would build the top without a seam. It was a very demeaning letter stating I would be responsible for damage during shipment and installation. I was in construction for 44 years and myself or the companies I worked for would never send something like that out. We reluctantly agreed on the seam, I was not going to accept responsibility for their employees. I had to pay the total bill before completion. Of course the price went up $600 above the second price increase. I was told that was because the square footage was refigured and they used supports not included in the quote. They charged for 4.3 square feet more material. I looked at the drawing I sent originally and the one they came up with and yes it should have been 2 more square feet, not 4.3 square feet. The contact at Blink was not very responsive when I questioned this. We will live with the countertop until we decide to find a responsible company to do business with. read more

My parents were impressed with the price. Today the countertops were delivered and installed by George and Rich. They look gorgeous! WATCH FOR BAIT AND SWITCH We had Momax install a kitchen counter years ago and went back to them to have them install a granite snack bar. I gave them a rough estimate of the length and showed the salesman a photo of where it was to be installed. He informed me that we need brackets to support the overhang off the counter. We discussed extensively the brackets and how the installers would notch out the wood 2x4 for the bracket. I was familiar with the process as the same thing was done to support a small overhang on my kitchen counter. We picked our granite and he took my info and emailed me a quote (lie #1). I accepted the quote, put half down, and was later scheduled for a field measure. After the measure, I received another email and phone call to come pick out the section of slab I wanted and to put more money down to meet half the deposit. I looked at the new estimate and the price jumped by a THIRD. There was and increase of 1.5 sq. foot in addition to the price of the "brackets". The brackets are 4'x12" flat stock nothing else and they charge $100 for each. When I called about the price increase Mary Ellen could not have been any ruder. She stated that they did not know if I needed brackets until the field measure (lie #2). I told her that is not true because the sales rep and I discussed the brackets and I showed him photo's. Then the tune changed to they did not know how many brackets were needed (lie #3). I priced out granite from other suppliers and the both gave me an estimate of a bracket every 18". Then she said that they have different brackets and they are different prices (lie #4). I asked her how many brackets do they have and price differences. She said they have 2 types and they differ by $10. Come on really!! At that point she was just scrambling because of the lies she is caught in. They were unwilling to compromise on the price or come down any, so I informed them I wanted my deposit back. They said they would refund it less $150 for the field measure and $20 for a credit card charge $170 (which is stated in the contract). It was not about the money it is the principle of the matter. Don't increase the price by a third, that is just bad business. I went to GQ Tops and they were great. They even told me about the cost of brackets. read more

I found this place while searching online for an alternative to purchasing granite countertops at Home Depot. I initially called and the woman over the phone was sooooo helpful. It's been awhile since I've gotten good customer service over the phone and the help was knowledgeable. The next day I went in and the young guy that helped me was really great. Their prices are very competitive. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for granite outside of big box chain stores. I've already recommended this place to the Bf's friends who are remodeling their kitchen and looking to upgrade to granite. poor Quality I bought my granite countertop from them and had it installed. All they cared about from the beginning was the money. During the installation they broke a part of the tub fixture. They also miscut most of the granite pieces. They wanted the rest of the money before fixing the part and doing what they could with the granite. I waited over 2 weeks for them to return and yet they harassed me immediately after original improper installation. They called me multiple times a day and even called my employees. I will NEVER use them again. FYI....they were paid 3 business days after they returned even though the problems could not be completely resolved. read more

They had an amazing staff, I came in multiple times and although everytime, I had come hoping to work with the young man that helped me in my previous vist, I was helped by a woman named Olivia and she was very good at her job. She helped me find something that fit in my budget. The cutter, (cant recall his name) helped me layout where everything was going to be cut. I was very happy with all phases of the process, but wow the install! They told me it was going to be 4-5 weeks, they had a opening a little sooner if I was willing to let them install on a Saturday. They were in and out and the installers were very skilled at their jobs. It's rare to see employees in such a great mood. I even found myself buying them lunch. We remodeled our kitchen, beautiful new cabinets, appliances, counter tops and a sink. Buyer beware Momax includes a sink in your purchase. We are a family of two Senior citizens that take care of what we have. It had two scratches within the first week and multiple scratches within the first month. Momax does not stand behind what they sell. We were told to contact the manufacturer of the sink. I bought it from Momax they bought it from the sink company, but I have to contact the sink company, I would not buy there again. read more

Had several issues with Momax to include Luis and Hector. They miscut one of the granite pieces and Hector tried to inform me that it wasn't 'mis-cut', it was not polished properly. Another granite piece was not properly shimmed or leveled leaving gaping joints in excess of 1/4 inche between the granite counter and backsplash. Hector, even admitted that they even used the wrong silicone, making the errors even more apparent. Next, Momax did not properly score the walls/drywall when removing the old countertop which tore large holes in the drywall. Hector didn't want to speak to "the construction" and informed me that there will "always" be issues with drywall when installing new countertops. Unfortunately, these are not "touch up" areas like Hector suggested, these holes need to be skim coated and now the entire kitchen needs to be repainted. You will need to factor in the additional expense of drywall repair and whole room repaint if you are planning to utilize Momax for your granite needs! Unfortunately, this is not a reputable organization. The installers sat for 35 minutes explaining how they are sick of the company and even offered that the installer and his wife were leaving the company because of all of the issues. When one of the other installers arrived to help carry in an additional and heavy piece of granite, there was another half hour spent discussing how bad the company was. Use your best judgement here and look at all of your options before choosing to work with MoMax. Hector offered no resolution to the matters and informed me that the issues were "little issues" and he doesn't get involved in the construction and that there are always issues when installing new countertops and I should be happy with what I got. Hector is somehow the president of this company, very poor customer service. Now we are forced to get lawyers involved to correct issues that Momax created. Had a white quartz with small flecks installed in mid January and one of the pieces of glass has come out. I went into store to see if they would repair, they will but are going to charge me. They told me I must have dropped something, I did not. I take extreme care of everything I own. They are all about selling you the product and insisting on its durability. After the install, they want nothing to do with you. I cannot let anything that is metal touch the counter or it leaves a mark. It's fabulous having an entire kitchen filled with a surface you are afraid to use. I would never recommend anyone buy from Momax. They have the worst customer service after purchase. read more

Become a customer at your own risk. Hector Cornejo, the owner instills with his team a policy of no customer support post sale. In April of 2014 we had much of our kitchen remodeled. The counter tops were purchased and installed from Momax. The installers caused a leak in our water supply line to our dishwasher which went unnoticed for two days. The water flowed straight down into our newly finished basement. Momax refused to admit fault. Instead the company that was installing our new oven and cooktop stepped up and provided and paid for the repairs. ...keep in mind they never replaced the dishwasher nor did any labor near the area of the leak. They commented, "we will fix it Hector isn't going to do anything". Now fast forwarded to early 2017. Our 3-year-old EXPENSIVE counter tops are discolored in some areas (and yes we take excellent care of them). Please also note we purchased a 15-year discoloring warranty through Momax. Upon noticing something wasn't right we called Momax, who in turn called the company that installed our appliances and sent them out to see us. After WEEKS of trying to fix by directly calling Hector, drying, applying different agents, and recaulking the sink the company said there is nothing more we can do. I then called Momax several times to ask them to at least come out and look at the problem. They refused. I went to the Momax store on three occasions and spoke directly with Hector who refused, to my face, to send anyone would come out, He told us to call the warranty company. As I found out the warranty we purchased through Momax is actually through a third party. A party that is now out of business! I went to Momax again and again was refused to just have someone LOOK at the issue. So...buy at your own risk, because once your expensive counter tops are installed you will have no support from Momax. Myself I'm now filling a complaint with the State Attorney read more

Dealing with the counter person was easy and helpful. Just horrible after that. I feel like they were upset installing my two vanity tops. HUGE mess they left with black finger marks all over my white trim and doors, scratches on the opposite side of my bathroom from whatever they did. Granite particles about 1/4 inch in my toilet. And they cracked the sink putting one in. After that fiasco putting two 5 ft counters in took 8 hrs. Did not expect it could possibly take that long. They cleaned nothing up after they were done. I was somewhat disappointed by Momax and their recent installation of granite counter tops in my house. I will start off with the only good item on the list. They arrived when they said they were going to arrive and installed the marble and the new sink in the approximate time frame they said they would. Now for the disappointment: 1.) The installers damaged my wall during installation. It will require wall patching and repainting of a twelve inch by six inch area. It is not a huge deal but all the installation foreman would say was "Oops," like it wasn't his crew's fault. He didn't even apologize. One of my pet peeves is not taking responsibility when you mess up. 2.) The installers removed the sink and told my wife they left all the pieces to the sink in a bucket underneath the new sink. When I returned home, I found that several parts were missing including both the fitting for the garbage disposal and the other side of the sink drain pipe. When we called Momax to see if their installation crew had accidentally kept these items, the person we spoke with refused to follow up with the installation crew and kept saying, "So you are refusing payment?" Again, not a huge cost, but it would have saved us about $300 with the plumber because we would not have had to purchase another garbage disposal and another drain connection for the other sink. Oh, and by the way, with the time frame of the installation and figuring out what parts we needed, etc., we went 5 days without a usable kitchen sink or a dishwasher -- not fun. 3.) This one is the funny one... This installation was part of the sale of the house. When we asked for the bill from the installation foreman, he refused to give it to us because we were not "the original contract owner." Then, their accounts payable person immediately sent the bill saying "due upon receipt" and called twice a day for their $286 of additional cost -- before we even had the bill. We held on to the bill less than 10 days trying to resolve the other issues. In the end, it was ok because it gave us some leverage to deal with Momax. 4.) Today, my wife settled with them for $200. That was after they continued with the childish "You are refusing payment?" routine again. Now, I can appreciate a "small business owner" worried about paying the bills and getting stuck with a huge bill, but they already had the lion's share of the payment of $3000 from the previous owner. I would have actually listened to a potential repeat customer when he or she brought up issues with my installation crews. That is the only way to improve. They did a wonderful job and my kitchen looks fantastic. They were very professional, knowledgable and friendly. I called 3 granite companies for estimates and Momax was the most reasonable. Happy with the product and quality. Not so happy with Hector who was very rude when I expressed a complaint. The installers removed the old faucets and water connectors and took them. My plumber came and did not have the water connectors to hook up the new faucets. Hector told me he'd try to find the missing parts and my plumber could come get them. I live 30 min away. I asked Hector if he would reimburse me for new connectors and he was very rude. I'm supposed to pay my plumber to drive 30 min each way to get the parts? I had to pay for the first unproductive house call and had to reschedule. I still have not heard back from Hector. Product is great. Customer service is is very poor. Once they have your money, they don't care! Remember Hector, word of mouth can make you or break you. read more
