So get in there and check out the goods and find yourself a unique souvenir from a place that probably no one else that you know has ever been. And don't forget to visit the petroglyph site down the way behind the place. Take a minute and do it. How often do you get to see a petroglyph? Ancient, historic graffiti that tells the tales of way back when....yes...go and see that. Worth it. Take some pics. Don't touch the petroglyphs. Anyway, this is exactly the kind of place that you hope to stumble upon when you take off into the middle of nowhere and so if you're here, you've stumbled upon it. Congratulations. Wow...what a beautiful preserve Fort. Made me feel like I was back in time…read more Staff and volunteers were friendly, helpful. Nice short video to give you some insight into what happened during the days of the activity at the Fort. Some of the buildings are being renovated to help the structure and preserve what damage was done due to time but that doesn't make the area less amazing. I think Smokey is one of the few real heroes out there, who have made their way into pop culture. I also think that everyone has had a Smokey the bear t-shirt at some point in their life, maybe a hat? Coming here, I learned about the origin of fire towers and controlled fires. There is reference to firefighters and firefighting, so this may also pass as a fire fighter museum. But the real reason I came here was to admire and look at the memorabilia of Smokey the bear. I really enjoyed seeing all the toys and items collected by the museum. I am really happy to have made it here.
