With a minutes walk the furthest away you would have to walk. This place is lovely and my favourite Indian food in Newcastle/the coast that I have found so far. The food is very tasty and seems very clean. Prices are standard as to what you pay anywhere a selection of beers ,wines and spirits. The staff are very friendly and nice. They do takeaway which is good as takdir is a restaurant first and then a takeaway so its standard s are a lot higher than a just a take away. They have won awards for there food and it is highly recommend you go and try it. I got chatting to one of the lads there and he said Steven Taylor from Newcastle united football club gets in there which he did seem genuine about and Taylor does come from just up the road.

Our waitress was very attentive and the service was generally good, the only downside being towards the end of the meal when I asked if they had Cointreau for a liqueur coffee and was told they didn't, but as we left I noticed the distinctive bottle on the side of the bar around ten feet from where we had been sitting. In the end that didn't spoil the meal, I think it just came down to a simple misunderstanding, no harm done. If you find yourself having the usual argument over whether you should go out for an Indian or Chinese meal, this could be the ideal compromise restaurant.

I requested a pint of larger and a coke after our starter and some 25 minutes later had to ask again as I was still waiting for the drinks I had ordered. The delay between courses was about 20 minutes. We arrived at 6.45pm and left at 9.05pm. Our total bill was £60.45 that is for 4 people. Seating arrangements are a little to close as you feel that you are invading on other diners space however they are in the process of expanding into the property next door and as we are to believe the name will be changing. The Manager would not refund our money as "it was not there policy" The two bad takeaway meals we got, were both chicken Jalferzy. Jalfrezy on there menu: "is a dish where the main ingredient (Chicken) is stir fried with onions and capsicum in a spicy sauce." Our meal consisted of two half inch thick slices of raw onion with a spicy sauce poured over and slices of some cold unrecognisable meat laid on top plus some undercooked rice. It was a long way off what was described on the menu. The manager said "that is the way we do jalfrezy dishes" I was offered two free meals, but I will not be taken up the offer. Would you eat at a place after you have complained about the bad food? The Taste of India sells the worst Indian food I have ever tasted. Disgusting - never again.
