Momo may have become my new favorite sushi spot in the twin cities. The atmosphere is very fun and vibrant and although the restaurant itself is a bit smaller, the space feels quite large. Our server was very kind and the food came out incredibly quickly. We went for their lunch specials and were incredibly impressed. The hibachi was a huge portion for such a cheap price and was full of flavor. Our chicken was cooked to perfection and everything was absolutely delicious. The role we got was different from anything I had tried, but it Was flavorful, had a good texture, and you can the fish they use is incredibly fresh. Overall, I cannot recommend checking out momo and specifically the lunch special enough. read more

Service was great and we had to wait for our table so we $1 off our drinks. I come here regularly. Can't beat the price point. Great place e to order lobster. I'm a big sushi fan and their sushi is pretty good but I enjoy other dishes even more. Love the mixed protein lo mein and option to order tempura by the piece. Very generous portions. I can eat the lo mein three different times. Really love the signature momos both meat and vegetarian. This is a great place for vegetarians including sushi options. No full bar but they have beer wine cider and sake. Gives an excuse to pull up at another spot for cocktails. They stay busy so plan accordingly. Nice summertime patio and they've created extra heated covered patio space all year. Still steadily packed. Good for them. Unfortunately we visited on a VERY hot day and their AC couldn't keep up so it was quite warm and uncomfortable inside, but I can't knock them for that. I love that they start you with complimentary miso soup which is normally not my favorite, but this was great! We ordered seaweed salad, beef fried rice (ended up with chicken somehow), a salmon avocado roll, the butterfly roll (pink soy paper), and the angry dragon roll. The sushi was fantastic, great combinations of flavors and really good quality and size for the price. The fried rice was also delicious and had some really good yum yum sauce with it as well. I've both dined in and ordered takeout at this place. Really good spot to sit outside in the summer. It has a small outdoor seating area up front with trees and string lights. Street parking in nearby residential areas. Plan to walk a bit but it's not too hard to find a spot. I eat sushi quite a bit and I always forget which rolls I order. In general these rolls are always crispy and delicious. They're perfectly rolled and bite sized. Two specialty rolls, sake, and the miso soup it comes with was just enough food for the two of us to not feel overly stuffed. I did order two rolls for takeout with a friend once and they found it to not be enough, but everyone has their preference. The service was kind and I didn't notice an extended wait time. I was pleasantly surprised with the sushi here, which is hard to find in Minneapolis. They offered a great variety of rolls, from simple to intricate. This is probably my favorite sushi place in Minnesota just because the value of the lunch combo can't be beat. I always get the three-roll combo for $13ish, and I love that they pass out free miso soup. And I haven't had any bites that are fishy in a bad way, which can't be said for some of the other sushi places I've tried in Minnesota :') My favorite rolls are the Alaska (salmon, avocado and cucumber) and the white fish and cucumber (the spicy tuna/salmon rolls have a lot of tempura crunchies, which I'm personally not a fan of). I would steer clear of the hamachi kama (yellowtail collar), though. It's usually one of my favorites, but the one here was dry/overcooked, and the ponzu seemed to have wasabi/horseradish in it. It also required a longer wait, which they did say when we ordered it (it came out after we were done with our rolls). And the service for other menu items is super fast. I also like that there's a little patio, as well as tables in between the indoor area and the patio that are a bit more shaded. Parking's a little confusing (there's a lot that looks connected but signage says it's only for the place next door that's permanently closed, so I think people use it for Momo), but there's also some street parking nearby! read more

I've been here a few times for the lunch specials. I usually get the hibachi chicken, it comes a with soup, I get the spicy miso, then add on cream cheese wontons (which has imitation crab). Everything is really good. I think compared to other hibachi locations the prices are fair. The service is good. It's a smaller restaurant but in the warmer months they have more seating on the patio. They have a small parking lot otherwise street parking. read more

I have no idea how sushi can have a complete lack of flavor! Probably my #1 go-to sushi place in the twin cities area, it's very affordable and has great value compared to most sushi restaurants. They use very fresh ingredients and I was very happy with the filling to rice ratio with the rolls I got. I usually get the classic rolls and those come for less than $6 per roll. I thought the 18 pieces for less than $18 was a great deal, plus they give out a bowl of complimentary miso soup! The restaurant is decently big with plenty of seating, a bar area, a patio, as well as an extended tent area that's heated for the cold winters. It's got a combination of Japanese and Nepalese decor, as they also serve some momos but I haven't tried those yet!Every time I've gone it's been decently packed but I wouldn't say reservations are necessary unless it's an exception. read more

I found this restaurant through doing a search on YELP for Tempura. Tempura is a Japanese dish of lightly battered and deep-fried seafood and vegetables that creates a light and crispy coating. The word "tempura fried" on a menu usually refers to food that has been dipped in batter and fried. I'm Japanese and Tempura is a delicacy that is very hard to make at home. I mean you need cook in very hot oil, and very quickly. This requires skill. When I was a child I've seen my mother make it, but she wouldn't let me near the pan or even cooking area when she made it. Now that she is elderly she is unable to cook this. Therefore, this is one dish my mother and I go out to eat at a restaurant and Momo Sushi does it perfectly. Momo sushi also does awesome takeout that is super easy to order online. The Momo sushi lunch special Shrimp Tempura box at $12.95 is a steal! Tempura includes scrumptious veggies and huge shrimps. which is awesome! The lunch also includes miso soup and salad. I was intrigued by the restaurants description of authentic Tibetan AND Japanese food. Went with a friend during a weekday lunch and was surprised at how crowded it was. As soon as we sat down, we were given bowls of miso soup which were quite tasty. In addition to the sushi and sashimi offerings, there were several sushi lunch combos and Tibetan momos. We ordered the Momo sushi roll, one lunch combo with two rolls, and the mixed momos (half meat and have veggie). The momos were pretty disappointing. They had obviously been made earlier and frozen, with gummy skins that stuck together and hints of freezer burn. The Momo roll had fresh fish and sweet sauces, and was covered with seaweed salad and tobiko. The spicy tuna roll was fine but didn't standout. The fresh salmon and avocado was both of our favorite of the three rolls. Service was a bit scattered - servers stopped by several times to ask if we were ok, but didn't clear dishes or bring a bill until we specifically asked. The prices were very reasonable, especially for the lunch specials. I'll go back for the fresh fish sushi and to try the sashimi, though will look for Tibetan momos at other restaurants. read more

This gonna be a good place in Minneapolis for good sushis. Since we just came from Maine, where we had very fresh and cheap seafood, the sashimi was not satisfying our stomach. However, the sushi here was nice. Rolls like Momo Roll and rainbow roll were both good with good filling and toppings. The momo itself here was a bit werid for me, neither salty or umami. I haven't had much sushi here in MPLS but I'm from California and definitely have had a fair amount there and this is very comparable quality. FOOD: very fresh and well done. Even the rice was exceptional. I got the chirashi bowl (sashimi over sushi rice with some beet root and other small vegetable). Also loved the complementary miso soup. SERVICE: top tier. Our water glasses were always topped off and they checked on us multiple times. PARKING: a little tricky. We got lucky with a street spot. I've heard they also have a lot but that it's often filled. But we didn't check that out. AMBIANCE: Comfortable spot. Slightly crowded but I've found that's on par with standard "sushi joint" vibes. While Momo Sushi doesn't have anything that makes me say "that's the best ______ I've ever had" the value for what you're getting is absolutely through the roof. All the food pictured only ran us about $55. Plenty of places you spend $55 just for 2 rolls of similar quality. Our waitress wasn't super friendly, but was very attentive and quick. Even though they were packed, all service was speedy. I don't think they take reservations for 2 (maybe I'm wrong?) but it was definitely worth dining earlier in the evening to beat the crowds. They also brought out a free dessert for my wife's birthday! Very tasty mochi. I'm so happy we have this place in the twin cities metro. We will definitely be back. The sushi is genuinely fantastic--fresh, well-balanced, and plated with care--but what really sets Momo apart is the variety. Small parking lot, so we had to park pretty far away (which sucks in winter with the snow banks so high). The table we were sat at was so small it was a juggling act to try and keep our plates and drinks on it. The bathrooms were very....small and unkept (granted it was a busy night). Food: The vegetable tempura was very crispy and not oily, we really enjoyed this. The sushi was filling and well made (even distribution of ingredients, well-cooked rice). Service: Friendly but a little slow to clear items, which was a hinderance since our table was so small. I noticed that it was a recurring theme on several of the tables around us, they may have been a bit short staffed in front of house. They have outside seating now that it's summer but typically packed since everyone wants to be outside. We didn't have reservation so we sat inside. Table and chairs were still wet from then wiping which is not good (1/5). They have COMPLIMENTARY miso or onions! So make sure you get one for FREE. The menu is quit large, reminds me of an all you can eat menu except it's not all you can eat. Appetizer - Shrimp tempura - comes with 3 pieces of shrimp and some vegetable tempura. Batter not crispy enough but it's ok (3/5) Hamachi Kama- definitely looks different from other places I've had it. It's not as fatty compared to other places. Still good and very meaty. (3/5) Got a few rolls to try. For the price, they are quite decent in size and tasty (4/5). We ordered the momo dumplings but it never came out :/. I think another table got our order and they forgot about us since that table came after. Yet still was on the bill and they had to question if we received it or not. Of course we didn't. Oh well. Maybe next time. Seems like they were short staff maybe because we didn't get much attention from the waitress. They didn't check in on us to see if we got everything or how the food was. How have I never been to Momo before?! They have an awesome patio. It was an incredible summer nigh, so I didn't get to see anything inside, but the patio had nice umbrellas and a great view of Central. First up, we each ordered an IPA. $4 for a pint glass?! Incredible pricing. The IPA was crisp, cool, and refreshing. To start, we got the combination momos. They were good, but falling apart a bit. The chili oil is HOT HOT HOT, and I like spice. Be forewarned, lest you look like a coughing fool like I did. We got three sushi rolls to split: sex on the beach, scorpion, and crazy monkey. Everything was fresh and delicious. The crazy monkey was the surprise of the night - who knew banana went well with crab?! As a bonus, you get free soup. We both raved about our onion soup and miso soup! read more
