I spent the whole day out and about in the city center and was too tired to look for a place to eat in the "city-city", so I headed back to my rental apartment, remember that there were some restaurants in the area. It was a cold, rainy night and the lights from Barto (and the red Christmas trees outside the front door) beckoned me. As soon as I walked in, I knew I was in the right place. It was warm, friendly and the place was buzzing with diners. Also, it smelled amazing. I was also greeted promptly and picked a small table in the front so I could watch people rushing on the street as well as the historic Château de Vincennes, just across the street. Ahhhhhh. Since it was cold, I warmed myself up with their lasagna. It was lovely and the sides and top were burnt (on purpose) to perfection. It was hot. It was delicious. I would eat it again ... and again. Its goooood. I also treated myself to dessert and got the Crostata Di Mela (an apple tart) that came with a side of vanilla ice cream. Not stopping myself by any means, I also got their specialty coffee called the Barto'ccino. I can't tell you exactly why it was so special but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the dollop of LEGIT cream on top. Its the real deal and you can taste the difference from your ordinary cappuccinos. The real cream is magical and I consumed it ALL! So, if you are in the area (Zone 2 for those using the RER or Metro), this is a wonderful stop for a meal. Sit back. Relax. Enjoy the quieter street in the Paris area and take it all in. Yum-a-yum.

Not knowing much French, I was nervous venturing out from my Hotel to eat, but I was determined to try some real, local food. As I stepped into the restaurant in the late afternoon, I was immediately greeted by friendly hosts and a warm atmosphere. All my nervousness melted away. Unable to fully communicate my order, "Frank" happily walked me through the menu and made wine suggestions. He spoke great English and is the most friendly guy you will ever meet. The food was so good that I returned again multiple times. I really enjoyed the Escargots de Bourgogne, Foie gras de canard mi-cuit, marmelade du moment, Suprême de volaille, sauce moutarde à l'ancienne, and Tartare de bœuf revisité par le Chef 180g, frites maison. Frank, if you're reading this, thanks again for such a great dining experience!
