At first I had no complaints but I felt like it was important to shop around for interest rates so I mentioned to my realtor that I was considering working with a different lender at which point both she and Jordan tried to convince me that it was too late and that I would miss my closing date and could possibly lose my deposit and contract. I gave in and agreed to stay with First Home. Every time Jordan sent me a document to sign, I was told I only had 24 hours. With this being my first home I wanted to make sure I was reading through everything carefully, but if I didn't return the documents within a few hours Jordan would call, email and text me to push me to get the papers to her. She would also have my realtor contact me to ask why I hadn't turned them in yet. The contact between her and my realtor created a lot of mistrust. Since closing, Jordan continues to send spam emails, one of which was asking me to donate money to her fundraiser.

Deciding to close my accounts with Navy Federal today after banking with them for the majority of…read moremy 14 years of military service and civilian life. I filed chapter 7 bankruptcy and was cleared of my debt. I've had a banner on my account marking me as a debtor for the 8 months of the bankruptcy and did not say anything because it was true. Now that my debt has been discharged for two months. I asked multiple Navy Federal employees for the banner to be removed, and told them it makes me feel ashamed and targeted. I was told that, even though the Federal government says I'm cleared of my debts and I've learned my lesson and have a second chance. If I bank with Navy Federal I have to keep that banner on my account. I'm a simple man from Alabama. If some shit seems like it's racist, it probably is. Y'all were awesome for a time NF. The ATM machine ate $450.00 and did not record it as a deposit. I escalated this through their call center, who were very pleasant btw. Their call center referred me to the branch management. The bank manager would not meet with me. After going round and round with the assistant bank manager she finally went back to the bank manager and they provided a credit after basically asking me to beg. What are we buying a car here?? They were condescending and rude and kept referring to their problems as a bank. Your poor business practices are not my problem. My problem is you stole $450.00 from me and basically calling me a crook. Adios Navy Federal.

Bill responded immediately to our inquiry about a possible mortgage with him; he quickly worked up a loan estimate that included the estimated escrow and estimated taxes, insurance and assessments. He was very accurate in estimating the loan costs. He then offered, without our asking, an alternate estimate based on a higher down payment that eliminated the need for "PMI" Mortgage Insurance. PMI is not a benefit to the homeowner so its elimination was appreciated. During the closing process his Team helped us coordinate all the documents that were needed, and the final process wrapped up without a hitch which was super important to us as we were moving from NH to Maryland and were in transit during those final hours and they were in touch with us every step of the way. Bill also followed up this week, one month after our closing, with an application form for a Homestead Tax Credit, and even included a stamped return envelope for us to get that into the mail quickly.
