The next UP AND COMING Salon Everyone Will Be Talking About in SF!!! I finally found someone I can trust with my hair and understands what I want. She leads with passion and purpose. You can tell this is Shanna's dream and this isn't just a business to her, it's her purpose to make people happier with stunning hair. I have struggled so much with finding someone I could trust with my hair ever since my lady moved to Europe. I am so picky and felt like she was the only one who could understand what I wanted. Then I met Shanna through a recommendation of a friend and got my first haircut w Krystina, and she absolutely killed it (I love dimension in my hair) and got the most compliments on my cut that I have had in a long time. My friend Vivian also got her hair cut and LOVED it and she also got so many compliments (hair types: mine is a lot but thinner, hers is super thick and long) Then it came to my hair, and I had my first experience about 4 months ago and I love Shanna's strength in lived in looks. The hair grew out to be this beautiful color that I felt barely needed maintenance after 4 months but I got my roots touched up and some toner for Europe. Anyways, I am extremely picky with my hair and am so happy I finally get to rest with my search. All the stylists in her salon are so talented. Shanna has put so much effort into the breathability and style of her salon, and the detailing is SO cute. I love coming here. Zena always blesses my hair and I wouldn't want it any other way. She has been doing my highlights for some time now. She has quite literally nursed my hair back to health with all of her recommended treatments, including my keratin, which she does amazingly. It always lasts 3/4 months. Aside from being extremely meticulous about her work, she really listens to what I want, which in my opinion is the most important thing. You can tell she truly cares about her clients -- if something isn't perfect, she's always open to feedback and happy to make it right. I always leave feeling heard, cared for, and loving my hair. Came in for a cut before my bday and absolutely loved the way it turned out!! Booking online was straightforward and there's an option to do group bookings if you want to get your hair done with a friend I met Shanna who totally had a vision on how to cut & style my hair and asked how much length I wanted to take off first My hair feels a lot lighter and I'm excited to go back for some color next Also, the interior was like a nice minimalist vibe with good attention to detail with the things that matter like a comfortable wash basin The two stylists that I met were easy to talk to and made me feel really comfortable/at ease I'd def recommend for haircuts! I came here today for a cut correction from Alyssa and so grateful I found her. I recently chopped my mid back length hair into a lob and it was the worst hair cut I've ever gotten, completely opposite of what I asked for and looked very unflattering with my face. Also way shorter than what I asked for. Alyssa was honest and realistic (can't get back length immediately) and she did an amazing job turning my hacked off head of hair into the shape and vibe of what I was originally asking for, as close as she possibly could without having to take more length. I am so glad I found her and will continue to go here as I work towards my hair goals. She was a great listener and sensitive to what I was saying, understanding and skilled. She has completely transformed how I view my hair~ leaving me feeling more confident with each visit and completely loving my color/cut every time. I had an appointment in advance of a very special evening event. I got to the appointment about 15 minutes early, only for the stylist to let me know that they were running at least 30 minutes late. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find an alternative salon for the event. I had been super excited to try out the salon given reviews, but given the experience and not having received any notice that they were running late, I will have to look around for another salon. read more

I had such a fantastic experience with Alyssa today! She really listened to what I was hoping to achieve with my hair which had become dried out and brassy from too much sun and sea, and at the end of my appointment I felt so heard, and absolutely loved the results. She gave me a brand new head of hair, a beautiful ash undertone medium brown, and a fabulous updated cut to enjoy it even more. She answered all of my questions, kept me updated on the timing and what was to come, and even took time to polish off my cut with some finishing details after styling. Oh my god. I just moved here and came into Monarch with damaged, yucky hair. Lucky not only gave me an incredible, transparent consultation, but made time for me the next day to come in. She is so unbelievably kind and just magical with hair. I felt so heard, and let me tell you she DELIVERED. I had to pivot from my original design but she was really skilled and I honestly let her have full reign of the new design, but they turned out beautiful. She put a ton of detail into making sure my nails were perfect to the very last minute. FYI a gel manicure with design and gems/pearls (self provided) was $65 pre tip, which is more than they list on the site. They prefer cash but venmo is also accepted. Very peaceful vibe inside, with a restroom and water provided. They don't rush you at all which is nice :)

I love Monarch Salon! I have seen Alyssa several times and she is so skilled!! She's done an incredible job every time and is so kind, friendly, calm, and respectful. I've also seen Shanna who does amazing work as well. You can tell the salon is committed to excellence, cares about their clients, and wants them to walk out the door feeling fabulous. I have hair that many people would called raven colored... naturally. I worried about the impact of bleach in my hair as I hadn't colored it in 10 years. I accepted because I felt confident in her work and her reassurance and validation. After some hours and constant foil checks and just body checks overall (asking me if I wanted to stretch, needed a break, water, food and a drink) my hair was at a comfortable level where she felt she didn't fry it but it could be lifted safely. Many will lighten you fast slab some stuff on and send you on your way just for you to wash style and it's falling apart. This was not that kind of horror story. We applied the color and it looked beautiful. As I went with her I learned so much about coloring and detail. Emily was and is the best at it. Our sessions are not only satisfying in the hair aspect, but we've shared so many funny stories and memories that Siren Salon is a place I go to decompress and visit what feels like old friends. The vibe is great too, the other stylist make it feel like they've serviced you with how friendly they are. And let's not forget how talented Micah and Melinda are.
