I came to Monical's with some of my buddies today. I would've rather eaten skunk meat than what I was served today. A piece of cardboard. With cheese and pepperoni on it. And a whole pound of pepper. Pepper on a pizza. Safe to say I will never visit this dissapointment of an establishment ever again. Also, the breadsticks were so disgustingly bad and had salt on them. Not even salt and pepper could mask the taste of the food they served me today. I would be so embarrassed to work there and serve that food. That food sucked. I heard someone call it dank? Worst service I have ever experienced. Let me say I have worked and been involved in the food industry for many years. I took my mom and her best friend to an early dinner. My mom is 91 years old and her friend is 93. We placed our order at the counter and prepaid and I included a tip. My mom's friend had ordered a 8" personal pizza and I ordered spaghetti and a 12" pizza for myself and the spaghetti for my mom. My mom's friends 8"pizza came out and the young lady said our food would be out shortly. I took a look at the pizza and asked my mom's friend if she was alright with it as it was way overcooked. She is not the type to complain and said she would live with it. Then approximately 10 minutes later the 12" pizza came out and looked perfect. Once again I asked the waitress about the spaghetti and was told it would be right out. After another approximately 20/30 after 2 of us were finished eating I went to the counter to ask about the spaghetti and I got dear in head lights from the workers. I me guy told me the were in back cutting up the meatballs! Then a guy who had just came in made a comment that was not even relevant . The the who I guess was the manager on duty said very rudely what do you want, do you want your money back? I said that might be a good place to start. As t this was happening the guy who had just came in one of the employees brought out the bowl with the spaghetti in it, and he turned around and put it in the microwave. I returned to my seat and a few minutes later, he came out with the spaghetti and put it on the table, and I said well that was easy it all it took was getting it microwaved in which he turned around and glared at me and said it's not microwaved it steamed OK big difference at his voice way out of line and I stood up out of my seat and he let me know. He was not scared of me to go ahead and hit him about that time. The manager on Judy came out and said you will not talk to my employee like that you need to leave and I said I'm not leaving as spaghetti just got here and he said you'll leave her call the cops to say I told him to go ahead and call the cops. I give the spaghetti to my mother in which by that time she ate maybe a bit or two and was done got to go containers to put it in and leftover pizza I had to put it in and we left to Will and Kent it is my understanding that the owner of this franchise is also the chief of the fire department in Kentland and also is vice president of the franchise relations for Monicals. I truly believe he needs to spend more time in his restaurant working with his staff I cannot believe that one of his manager on duty would threaten to call the police on me while I'm sitting there with 290+ year-old women that takes a lot of guts, I've tried reaching out to the owner and it doesn't seem possible so that is my review of the Monicals in Kentland. Being from Mississippi, we'd never heard of this regional pizza chain. But when we found ourselves in Kentland at dinner time, we googled Monical's and liked what we saw as far as the menu is concerned. So we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, the restaurant was nice and clean, and we were greeted warmly by Jordan. When we placed our order, Evan helped us with our selections and even pointed out how we could enjoy salads in addition to our pizzas and save money. As a thin crust pizza lover, I was blown away by the deluxe pizza. Everything about it was perfect from the crust, sauce, and fresh toppings to the sprinkling of basil and other seasonings on the top. Probably one of the best pizzas I've ever enjoyed. My husband was equally satisfied with his pan pizza. Don't hesitate to visit this restaurant if you're in Kentland! Shout out to Evan and Jordan, my new Indiana friends!! read more

Monical's is a regional pizza chain with locations mostly in central Illinois and Indiana. Outside of the Chicago area, this chain is known as *the* place to go for thin-crust pizza and breadsticks. This location lived up to the standard set for Monical's. Monical's thin crust pizza needs to have a very thin crust, with a layer of corn meal at the bottom. The toppings should be fresh, and they were. The breadsticks can come off salty if you're not used to it, but these breadsticks had just the right amount of (very coarse) salt sprinkled on top. Served with cheddar sauce, the breadsticks can be a meal in itself. Service was good at this location. I would go back. read more

A mandatory pit stop on our way back from Southern Indiana. There wasn't a lot of options outside your typical chain (think Ruby Tuesday). Granted "Monical's" is a chain in its own right, it isn't one that isn't terribly familiar outside of Indiana. Still, all the chain-esqe fixins are here: random paraphernalia adorns the walls while your high school age server takes your order. On to the food: pretty decent thin crust pizza if you love salt. I rather enjoyed it, but everyone else in my group consumed about a gallon each of their respective drinks. The breadsticks were bland and stiff and should have been avoided altogether. Perhaps we got a bad batch, based on others review they shouldn't have been as bad as those I experienced. I wouldn't go out of my way to find Monical's, but I will be sure to stop by if I'm ever in the area again. read more

I used to work there and it's absolutely disgusting. In the ice bucket and in the drink dispenser there are black flecks. When I told my coworkers about it they just said to put the lid on the up because they won't see it. Im almost positive it's mold because I've never in the months I was working there saw it be cleaned, nor is it ever excusable for them to be serving moldy soda and ice to customers. Also, some of my coworkers would dump the mop bucket, that was used to clean the back kitchen floors, into the sink that's used to clean customer's dishes. If you order or go in before they close they will purposely make you feel uncomfortable while you order/eat or simply tell you it's too late to even buy food when there is plenty of time. They never sanitize the crayons that little kids pay with; just throw it back in the bucket to spread more germs to the little ones. Don't buy marinara sauce for your bread sticks, because they just put some marinara back into the container that warms it up and it rarely gets clean. Many times I was working and had to take off the lid because the squirt Bossom wasn't working, the sides of the container were black. It's gross. Lastly, don't get the staff upset or they will purposely mess up your food. I was working with my friend at the time; she would often brag about being mean to customers and messing up their food because she didn't like them or if they were upset with her. Monical's pizza you can only enjoy it if you eat it when it first comes out of the oven! The crust is terrible. The staff is very young most of them I would say are probably still in high school and not very friendly. I think the best pizza that they do have if the thick crust BBQ meat lovers pizza.
