I went with friends to the Monkey Bar on a rainy Sunday in February, and we were not disappointed. We started out by the main bar, but because we're from up north(Buffalo, NY), we were seated at a table but couldn't shake the cold and dampness. We were taken to the dining room by our attentive waitress Tiffany and sat in a more warmer dining room. The food was great, I had the grouper sandwich with seasoned fries, but I started with stuffed mushrooms and spring rolls. French Dip sandwiches are my favorite, I can tell you I've had plenty. Some were great some were good and some were bad...today I had the worst I've ever had at the monkey bar. It was almost like they tried to rehydrate beef jerky and serve it with half toasted bread and beef oil as the dip. The easiest part of of French dip and the foundation is the bread which wasn't toasted or seasoned properly. Fatty, dried out beef served with an oily dipping " au jus". Fries were good. Waitress , Payton 330, took twenty minutes to come by to take our drink order and another twenty to bring to the table. We had a coupon for a bottle of wine with two meals. We showed the coupon prior to ordering. After 30 minutes, I flagged her over as she was literally walking circles around the bar. She came with a bad attitude and said she was not ignoring us but was busy. She took our orders and got most right. Her demeanor was absolutely terrible and acted like we were putting her out. Never smiled once. Our meals came. Food was enjoyable. Checks came and we were charged for the bottle of wine. Told her check was wrong. She then tells us we ordered the wrong thing off the menu. Asked why she did not say something when ordering and she just said the coupon says entree. Well since when is a 16 dollar sandwich not an entree? And why were we not told this when ordering? She was aware we had the coupon. And no where on the menu does it state entree or not entree. Long story short, we spoke to the manager who took off one bottle , but wasn't going to take off another one for other couple saying he can't do it for everyone. There were six of us with three bottles. One couple ordered the pasta which was the "entree". One couple ordered the sandwiches and one couple ordered a pasta and a sandwich. The manager agreed that the waitress should have told us when we ordered but was stubborn to give us credit for our coupon. Finally he did but it was like having a tooth pulled. AT THE BEGINNING the staff was amazing too until at the end Chelsey ( our waitress) came back to our table when we all ordered a decent amount of food and drinks, after we gave her the bills she accused one couple out of 8 of not tipping her. Myself with another member of our group walked around the bar looking for the $20 bill for the tip she lost. I walked in to go to the bathroom and saw her talking terribly about the one couple at my table and then I felt bad that she stereotyped our group so I went up to give her the money she lost and I saw her for the 2nd time terribly talking about the group at my table. That's when I decided I wanted to repay her the money she lost but I shouldn't because the way she was talking about my group when I SAW THE TIP MONEY GO IN. Amazing place but this girl stereotyped/generalized our group and our age that she freaked out on one group because she thought they didn't tip when almost everyone at the table saw it. It's very annoying that because we're younger than most people at the place that this server who was amazing at the beginning of the night assumed we would do this and that me and some Other people who wanted to just give her the tip money again until she freaked out and accused us.
