Granted, much of this vintage stock is designer and some of it is quite beautiful. Occasionally the staff here are willing to bring the prices down too, although even at Eva's discounted rate many of these dresses are priced far higher than I'm prepared to pay for second hand clothing. They used to have a Leichhardt contingent which sold the nicer of their dresses at far cheaper prices (I never really understood this) but now it seems that the two have merged into the one over priced shop. Come here for a nice glomesh purse - that is, after you've already checked Glebe and Rozelle markets.

Because new stock comes in every week, along with regular sales on already inexpensively priced clothing, Eva's Vintage beckons you back time and time again. Staff are warm and friendly and the shop is both beautifully laid out and spotlessly clean. Thoughtful touches in the spacious dressing room such as heating in winter and cooling in summer make trying on clothes pleasant and fun. As with all discount outlets you have to be careful what you choose, there are good things and then there are some incredibly bad things. But I must admit, the good win. They have lovely fashion items for men and women at low prices but fairly good quality and they also sell all the accessories to go with them. I went in for a look and left with a pair of pants suitable for work or casual wear. It was an expensive research mission!

They also sell children's furniture, giftware, books and accessories such as amber necklaces. If your children's clothes are fashionable, without tears, stains, without excessive fading and freshly laundered you can sell your clothes to the shop and be paid in cash or you can accept store credit. This kind of recycling can save time, resources and your money and be a great positive social change. There are some wonderful brands available in The Secret Closet including Sprout, Gap, Bebe, Pumpkin Patch, Ralph Lauren and Country Road. Tanya also sews and has handmade goods such as bibs, hair accessories and dresses. You can see an example of the dresses being sold in her shop also. The only challenge is to walk out of her shop without buying anything at all.

I imagine squeezing my generous self into one of those waxed denim numbers that I have seen on Rhianna and decide I stick with the 'whatever-I-can find' daily look rather than aspire to the unobtainable vamp rock star. Biird has a great store configuration with the right hand side of the shop being fashion mostly for the infant - toddler girls. The boys clothing is accessed to the back of this section. To the back of the shop behind the cash register is the womens clothing. Prams and strollers can be easily pushed around in each section. This is one of the things I love about Biird is the product placement is clearly defined not jumbled together like your kid has just hurricaned through the shop and that one is able to wander around easily. Clovelly Road is a very busy street right up until the second roundabout where the 2nd block of shops are. It has some of the best bakeries, providores and of course Green Mango, Pasta Zu and Clodeli which are very popular eateries. Be savvy and use one of the side streets to park that has unlimited parking. For my little diva I purchase a couple of transeasonal pieces including a green Diesel layered dress and a beautiful cotton number from the brand Ouch. Biird also stocks Fred Bare, Gaia, Pure Baby Organic, Love Luck shoes and Baby Havaania's. The staff are incredibly helpful and having children of their own I trust their wisdom in their suggestions.

The lady who founded this shop is lovely but don't let her advancing years fool you, she is wily and has been looking at cast-offs for year. Her valuation of the items I took in for sale involved a silent one-sided negotiation using something akin to a closely guarded ancient algorithm. I felt grateful as she relieved me of a some seriously great gear in return for fifteen real Australian dollars and a store credit. She's impressive. The store also does costume/party hire. This room is bright and sparkly and should have a health warning for those suffering migraines. Make this shop your go to if you have kids. Note: Be sure to call them in advance if you wish to sell items as they, quite sensibly, are looking seasonal stock only.

On a few occasions staff have seemed slightly apathetic, which can be somewhat of an annoyance. Overall though, this boutique is beautiful. It's the perfect shop if you're searching for something truly special. The selection is beautiful and so is the store.

The entry to each cubicle had a Moroccan theme with the curved door frames, different coloured interiors in each cubicle, complete with Arabic cushions on the floor! The waiting area is super cute, an oversized Arabic / Moroccan daybed with a bright matress and cushions. The sales staff are really helpful and friendly. One star down for the prices!
