The campus is really small but everything is nicely built and laid out. I spent most of my time at the Salerno Building, which is relatively new (built in the last year), and it was nicely done and has the latest tech, etc. The maintenance staff and catering staff were absolutely wonderful, bending over backwards to help and make sure everything was going well (even a student who had an allergy to dairy who didn't let us know beforehand, they went above and beyond and brought her special items daily for breakfast and lunch)... The campus is really pretty, lots of trees, nicely built buildings, green space, parking lots....

Really impressed with the campus and the community that makes up SJF…read more 2+2=4 at any school in the world. What makes one's college education unique and meaningful is the experience one has in the city/town and on the campus they choose. The athletics program is truly a family. The physical plant is a point of pride. The people who care for the students (my son, for one) are exceptional. !Food is GREAT, too! Very happy my son chose SJF and grateful for the experience the community has offered him thus far.

It's been a couple of years since I graduated from Naz with my Bachelor's degree. More than a…read morecouple, actually. :-) I chose Naz because of its small student to teacher ratio, gorgeous lay-out of the campus, and two-hour drive from home. Given the size of the school and the classes, it's pretty easy to get to know the professors. They genuinely seemed interested in seeing their students grow and take advantage of career opportunities. After I graduated, I actually had a professor get in touch with me to tell me she had a pamphlet for me about a graduate fellowship that I might be interested in--a fellowship that would later give me a free ride to grad school. ;-) Despite it being a small school, there was always a lot to do. Their language programs, in particular, were a great source of entertainment outside of classes. I remember many fine dinners spent at the French House--far away from the dreaded cafeteria. ;-) Student government is surprisingly active for a smaller school. The extracurricular offerings were many and quite diverse. The campus has since expanded. I got a peek at it a couple summers ago at an alumni function. It looked great and, to be honest, I wished the expansion had been complete when I was still a student there. :-)

My son recently graduated from this college. He transferred in from a 2 year college so he was…read moreonly there for 5 semesters. Things started okay but went downhill. Communication quickly became a problem. We had issues from professors, finance and counseling. It became so bad that to get anything done we had to cc the Dean in any messages that we sent. I also know of someone else who had to do the same thing. The last semester was the worst. He was enrolled as a full time student but when the bill came through it was in correct. We got loans for the first amount but had to get additional loans after the semester ended. No one sent an email we had to check the account because my son never received an email or his diploma. When we were notified by the finance department they told us we had to fix it. Numerous emails were sent to many different people but nothing was ever fixed. We finally resent the emails and cc'd the Dean and it finally got fixed. The college also changed the advisor without notifying us that it had changed. My son had to find his own internship and figure his classes out on his own. My daughter had the same issues with communication. She was signed up to go but never heard back. She then got a call from the advisor asking why she never showed up. The advisor had enrolled her in classes but never told her. She ended up not going. If you choose this college they will take your money but you will have to do a lot of work to make sure they are on top of things.

The Baby Lab runs research studies for infants and young children on topics like attention and…read morelearning. We signed the kids up as infants, and they call us every time they are running a study that they are eligible for. They always have a blast. The studies usually involve them watching movies or sounds on special screens that measure where they are looking. But my kids even enjoy the waiting room. The lab staff is really nice and friendly, and also happy to talk to you and answer any questions about early cognition that you might have! We're big fans. Oh, and when you run a study, they meet you in front of the building to give you a parking pass and escort you up, and they send you home with $10 and a really cute infant or kid shirt that says "I graduated from The Rochester Baby Lab!" How cute is that? And we feel good about helping science!

Even if you aren't a student the RIT bookstore (Campus…read moreConnections) has one of the largest photo stores in Rochester at prices that should make ROWE ashamed of themselves. It's not a huge photo department but it still is one of the largest and best places to go in the Rochester area for tripods, cameras, bags, photo books, film, darkroom equipment, matting equipment, mac stuff, printers, ink, etc. Even if you're not a student and can't get the impressive student discounts you'll still be paying less than the competition here (unless of course you don't need to see it in person first or get it immediately and want to save a boat load by shopping online at B&H photo) In addition to the computer and photo stuff the store has a massive art supplies department, clothing department (rit clothes like shirts, shorts, sports wear, sweat pants, sweat shirts), and of course books (not just class books). When you're shopping you can walk down the hall and get something next door at Ben and Jerry's or go to the building next door to the Java's cafe for a coffee,tea, or cookie.
