While the principal was supportive and provided…read moreuseful resources, the school's biggest weakness was the lack of professionalism among certain staff members. It was frustrating to see the school regularly hire individuals who were clearly unqualified often coaches without teaching credentials, friends, and relative. One example that stood out was my economics possibly history teacher, who also coached the girls' basketball team at the time. He routinely displayed impatience, dismissed my efforts to ask questions, and made it clear he'd rather sit at his desk than actually engage with students who want to understand the material while some other teachers were gladly happy that I was asking questions and participating and class. It felt like trying to learn was treated as an inconvenience and met with condescending demeanor. This was my last couple years at Naz as an A student. Like the previous commentator too many staff were comfortable raising their voices at students and even parents, which created an unnecessarily hostile environment. I truly hope the school has made changes since then, because students deserve teachers who are there to teach and challenge them not just hold a title. I heard there's a new principle and hopefully things have changed since then.

Please look closely at all of the supposed perks that the school lists as many don't actually exist and others aren't what they seem. One example area the supposed college preparatory classes which are watered down and don't prepare students for the reality of college courses. The students jokingly refer to the school as public school with a Catholic school uniform. Informed parents, please make sure you consider all your other options.

An issue came up with my child and some other child (not bullying but something else) and I spoke to the teaching assistant about it and they cleared the issue with the other parent. I must say that the other parent didn't care but they actually spoke to that kid which I appreciated it because I am my son's advocate and I am sure they don't want to hear my mouth. But the kids are really respectful and I see my son flourishing. Its not a school that is strictly academically driven where its all about the reading and math scores but they emphasize arts, drama, music and interactive learning. The after school programs are Bright star and Camba; my son is in Bright star actually which is 85 a week or 17 dollars a day. The coordinators are amazing and great with the kids so I truly have no complaints about the school so far. Hopefully it stays that way!

Lyceum Kennedy French American School has a selective approach and a discriminative attitude…read moretowards the students. The school's activity is so slow that they have only 1 class per grade as there are not enough students who want to study there. Sometimes the teacher misses the classes, and instead of having 6 classes in row, once students had only 3, because the teacher was absent for 3 of them and weren't warned about it. The school provides paid lunch, the quality of which is very poor, thus students have to carry the lunch with them, as they refuse to eat it. The teachers allow themselves intolerant remarks about students' religion, my child had this unpleasant occasion and nobody has had taken any action to prevent it neither to explain that it's not right nor excused themselves. My child was in middle school for 2 years, because of the selective approach and discriminative attitude to my child I decided to change this school. I expressed all my concerns in written version to the school, and as a response, the head of school found it appropriate only to mention that it was unnecessary to write it to the Embassy of France in Washington and ignored the issues about religious discrimination and on unfair approach to my child in this school.

They taught us Black history and we sang the Black National Anthem together. They had good relationships with parents and encouraged parents to do their part in engaging their children at home. The administration used to drill discipline as well as the importance of Brown youth to carry themselves with dignity into adulthood. I "declared" I was atheist since the 7th grade, but these are practical life lessons I still carry with me. I am glad I graduated from this school fifteen years ago. The teachers and President knew and cared about each individual student. From Homeroom with Ms. Hubbard to Mathematics with Mr. Cummings to Music with Ms. Joseph, each teacher pushed us to respect ourselves and each other to be the examples we wanted to see. Enroll your children here if you want them to be constructive adults who do not feel entitled to the world and appreciate the value of earning their way through life.

I can tell you about the community room we rented out; its large enough to fit, I would say about 70 people with six to seven tables but don't quote me since my assessments can be off. There is a stage and an area to set up the music or deejay. There is a backroom to set up the food. The bathroom is okay but has no mirror. There is parking in the area. Good luck with a getting a cab if its past 11pm, that area isn't a lot of traffic, mainly residential. But overall, its a decent size place to plan an event.

i play Bingo here. yes, i play Bingo... you gotta problem…read morewit dat? big hair, 10 Bingo sheets per person, loud women and of course... more Italians. i was schooled by a few regulars in the joint... and i had it all wrong with the Bingo. i must buy at least 4 sheets of the regular ones then buy some bonus Bingo sheets in which i will get a bigger prize. I spent about $35 on just Bingo sheets alone. did i win? why yes.... yes, i did. a gift certificate to a trattoria- what else would it be? i mean, would you expect a gift certificate to a Chinese restaurant? of course not. lol. the decor is dingy and it reminds me of a ghetto lunchroom. i'm talking about an old, smelly, and gross lunchroom. all the Bingo stuff is old, too. the scoreboard thingie that keeps track of the numbers looks like it's going to blow a fuse or something. it's quite the experience. lol they sell homemade goodies and snacks here. from popcorn to rice krispies treats... they also had antipasti, cannolis, cheesecake, and other Italian baked goods. i settled with a ginger ale. i'd say... try it. why the hell not? just a warning, though.... these Bingo people DON'T PLAY (they're serious about this), YO!
