Lots of history on Long Island and the Montauk Point Lighthouse holds its own wealth of historical information. Take the climb.

It's beautiful with the blue skies and ocean back drop. There are seats around the light house. The staff were all friendly and seemed to enjoy working at this historical landmark. It was interesting to see the Native American history and keeper artifacts. We climbed the narrow stairs to the top to see the view. It was a cool experience.

We couldn't get as close bc it was closed but it wasn't too far away either!

We visited the Montauk Lighthouse after 4pm, so unfortunately the museum was already closed . On the bright side, parking was free which was a nice surprise! We brought a picnic lunch, found a spot to enjoy the view, and then walked around to take in the lighthouse and the beautiful water. Even without going inside, it was such a peaceful and refreshing experience. Definitely worth the trip--next time we'll make sure to come earlier so we can explore the museum too!

I popped out to Montauk for a quick 24 hour trip. Of course I had to visit "The End" lighthouse. As always, it is inspiring to look out and see the vast ocean and watch the waves crash on the rocks. It is the miss of winter but the amenities are still open, especially the bathrooms which were very clean. Although you can't go up to the lighthouse itself temporarily, it was a magical place

So many trails for hiking around the lighthouse. Look forward to exploring more in the future.

One of the reasons why Long Island is one of the greatest places. Yea it takes a while to get here, but the views are worth it. There's not much to say because you have to experience this for yourself. The lighthouse itself is accessible and if you can walk up it, I highly recommend it. A playground is stationed nearby if the kids get bored. Overall a must when going all the way to the end.

Montauk Point Lighthouse has a fascinating view of the Atlantic Ocean and the end point of Long Island. It's worth paying $15 USD to enter where you can explore the gift shop, museum and then climb the 100 steps in the lighthouse. The gift store is really catchy with some beautiful merchandises and book collection at affordable prices. If you purchase an item then you'll get 10% off should you decide to dine at George's lighthouse cafe. It's located about a 5 minutes walk from the lighthouse entrance. The history here is impressive and tells the story of the many lighthouse keepers and their family. Here is where the British soldiers dominated during the American Revolution war. There is this huge space with nice well groomed green grass and lots of benches to rest and enjoy the view. I see family enjoying fruits and light snacks on the ground. It's a nice place to explore if lighthouses is your thing. And I recommend going off peak season to avoid the tourist crowd.

I haven't been here in ages but finally returned on July 4th. It is such a remarkable and iconic landmark, steeped in rich history. Walking around the grounds and simply observing all the different little (and big) rocks along the water was just so relaxing. It was so fun watching the fisherman cast their lines and seeing people the boats out in the Oceanside do the same. I even got to meet the keeper of the lighthouse just as he finished surfing. I mean, how freaking cool is that?!

If you're ever in the Hamptons or Montauk this Lighthouse is a MUST! The museum is located in the lower level of the lighthouses and it is packed with information on display. It was so interesting to read about the history of this Lighthouse and it's surrounding areas. Feel like climbing? Climb the narrow, circular staircase to the top of the lighthouse! Note that there is no handrail but there is a rope you can hold onto. If you're claustrophobic, I recommend that you skip the climb and watch the video of the view from the Lighthouse instead! lol The grounds and view from the lighthouse are beautiful. You can also walk along the lighthouse path to the beautiful beach. Note that the beach and grounds are free. There is an entry fee to go into the lighthouse and museum. Adults/$15, kids under 12/$5 Parking: Parking is $8 (8am-4pm Daily). Free after 4 pm. Note that the lighthouse/museum closes at 5pm. There are restrooms and a gift shop to the left of the ticket box.

Growing up in Montauk, the lighthouse visits are a must. There has been an ongoing restoration project that was long overdue. The upkeep and property are in great condition. The only part that has changed is the $8 parking fee prior to even going into the lighthouse. Then you have a separate ticket fee which all goes back to maintaining the property. It's a beautiful experience with great views. I'm happy they still let you climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. The on-site restaurant, George's is now more of a cafe with light food and drinks. It's a nice stop to check out in the area for sure.

Very cool trip to the lighthouse in Montauk! Lots of gorgeous views, and very interesting history. There is also information about other lighthouses close by as well as restoration projects. Parking is $8 and it's $15 to tour the lighthouse which was well worth it. There is also a fun playground on site. We didn't go to the restaurant or gift shop because my son had reached his limit but I heard they are both great. Young children are free but are not allowed up in the tower so my husband and I traded off. There was a line but we visited In July which is probably a busier time. Definitely enjoyed the trip and found it to be well worth it!

For my first review of 2024, I'm excited to leave a review for The Montauk Point Lighthouse in Long Island New York. I experienced this magical place on January 1, 2024 to see the breathtaking sunrise. I highly recommend seeing a sunrise at least once in your life. Simply walk towards the front of the Lighthouse to catch an epic sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse is huge and at this time of year, it's accented in Christmas lights. According to Yelp, the lighthouse is temporarily closed - but it looks like it will reopen in March 2024. There is an $8 fee charged by New York State between 8 am and 4 pm. But since we arrived for sunrise, it was free. The parking lot was packed, so be sure to arrive early. Dress warmly. Bring hat, gloves and scarf to stay warm. It's COLD!! Brrrrrr. The photos and videos do not do justice. You have to visit this place in real life! I promise you'll be glad you did!

The first Lighthouse of NY. A really cool place to visit, walk and take in what nature has to offer. We parked and then was able to walk around the park and experience the beach, lighthouse and bluffs. Great place to take pics and to just sit and soak in nature. We walked on the rocks by the water and were able to catch different glimpses of the lighthouse. Although the day was cloudy and a bit stormy we still loved it. They also have a gift shop with plenty of nice things to purchase.

It's the type of building that makes you want to give it a big hug, if only your arms were long enough Built over a hundred years ago as the village firehouse, it also did duty as a church before finally settling in as home to the Flavin Art Institute. How cute is it? Look at the address: Corwith Avenue off of Main Street. The official address is nothing but an intersection. That is seriously small town. The museum houses nine of Flavin's flourescent lighting sculptures. That's right, I did say "flourescent lighting sculptures." It's an amazing medium that Flavin playfully embraced for much of his career. By manipulating the colors and intensity of the lights, Flavin is able to extend each sculpture beyond it's direct physical presence, such that every nook and corner of the museum acquires its own mood. Because the museum is dedicated to Flavin, the works can be installed in a way that they are seen to best effect. If you know Flavin from other museums, come here to see his art taken to the next level of intensity. The museum also has a gallery that houses temporary exhibitions. When I was there, the exhibition was "Dan Flavin and the Hudson River School" and it included his drawings and paintings of the Hudson River, as well as works by artists who had influenced him during this phase of his career. It was fascinating to see, so different from the light sculptures that made him famous. If you come, plan some other activities. The museum is small and even if you linger, you'll likely be done within an hour. If nothing else, take the time to explore the small shops of downtown Bridgehampton. Bottom line: for art lovers who are in the area, the Flavin Institute should not be missed. For people already admire Flavin, it is a must-see, even if you do have to travel for a day.

We were the only ones in the museum at the time so the clerk who checked us in gave me son extra attention and showed him different things he could do upstairs.
