I'm here right now and it's been an amazing experience so far. I was a bit worried when I read the reveiws but booked anyways. Imagine my surprise! My room was da bomb. Super cozy and relaxing. Staff was very kind and hospitable. And breakfast was the greatest surprise of all! I was expecting much less. Breakfast goes until 10am which is super nice on vacation. You can see in the pictures, pastries, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, cofee... I've already soaked in the tub 4x in 12 hours. I absolutely love it here and would come again. Cons: Toilet paper is a bit rough, cleaning spray was a bit heavy on my allergies, I had to air the room out before I could enjoy without dying. If you have sensitivities, let them know so they don't febreeze you to death before check in And pool was currently closed but I wouldn't have used it anyways, with Lake Simcoe 5 minutes away. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights, in a king room, not at all what I was expecting. For the price I paid I thought I would be getting a clean room and checked in on time. Was told check-in was at 3pm arrived at 3:30 and they did not have our room ready. They did inspect our room before we got to it- not sure how it passed the inspection. Checked in a 3 pm and was given a room on the 3rd floor and a sign that says elevator out of order. So we had to go all the way up the stairs to our room. The bathroom sink is so clogged hot water will not drain properly down the sink. The bed is so uncomfortable that I tossed and turned the entire night and the cleaning staff who makes up the room made the bed wrong, the mattress protector, in my experience goes over the mattress first not over the sheets. I had an early morning meeting in Barrie this morning so spent last night there. I choose this hotel because it was near where I needed to be at 7am and it received 3 stars on the Expedia site (the other three that were close had lower ratings). I had a basic room but the bed was big and comfy and the tub was deep. The room was small but big enough for one person ... it would have been crowded with two or more people. If I'd been there longer, I might have spent the extra $$ to get a bigger room. Overpriced overcooked pasta :( I didn't check out the free breakfast as I was heading to a meeting. Included apparently are bagels, toast, pastries, etc. I found the free WIFI fairly quick. The fan comes on when you turn on the bathroom light and that was annoying as the fan is loud. It would have been nice to have the light on without the fan. Given the new hotels in that area to choose from, I doubt I'd stay there again. read more

the placed smelled horrible and the sheets had a greyish tinge to them and were really thin, the free breakfast was a disaster by the time we got down there they had little to nothing, the breakfast stopped at 10 we got down there at 9 and the front desk gave us these cards to get the breakfast and the lady at the counter said no one even checked them so that also rises concern for people who could just walked in and would not even be checked to see if they can get the breakfast or if they just walked in from the street. In our room the door would not even close the door knob was put on backwards. Finally the elevator was very shaky and would make weird noises did not sound safe at all.Overall really disappointed and will not be returning read more

This hotel is ok. At check in they do not give you the breakfast voucher so make sure to get it before going to breakfast or the grumpy guy will send you back to the front desk. Breakfast options are not great at all. It's 99% carbs but for $5 you can get bacon and eggs. Coffee is weak. read more

Stayed there on 27 August ,after a Lovely Wedding ,and was in a great mood, until we encountered the ugly, miserable looking Ragbag , in the breakfast room ! Breakfast Bar was not replenished ,correctly , and when we enquired about LOTS of missing food, hot water ,coffee , cutlery etc, Ratbag was unproffesional , Rude beyond comprehension, and insulted us under her breath. As a world traveller , the WORST Breakfast experience we have had. Lastly I reported this to the general manager ,who said she would get back to me ,but never did, which in this day and age is par for the course ,which is just dismissive and Lazy - Travellers BEWARE ! read more

I rented one of the suites for myself and the bridal party. It was one of the worse experiences I have ever had. The morning of the wedding we went downstairs for breakfast the lady was so rude that we ended up leaving and going down the street for Tim Hortons. After getting ready we were already 15 minutes late. One of the maids came to our floor on the elevator looked at us and said you'll have to wait "I've already been waiting for 20 minutes" and closed the door on our face. Recently stayed at this place for two nights. Pros: Most of the staff was polite and friendly; even the waiter at the restaurant that waited on us at 10 in the evening, then waited on us again at 6 am for breakfast (I'd be grouchy as hale with that kind of schedule!). The room was kept very clean, and the beds were bedbug free (novel!). Also, free breakfast until 10am; and they don't bat an eyelash over people that roll out of bed and sit down wearing a hoodie pulled over her eyes and pajama bottoms. Cons: The "high speed wireless internet" they boast about on their site is a joke. Sure it was wireless, but it runs like dial-up circa 1997. The bathroom light switch also turns on the VERY LOUD exhaust, with no way to shut off the exhaust and just have the light. Stepping in to the bathroom is like stepping in to an airplane hangar. The lady who checked us out was incredibly grumpy. Their restaurant's food was nothing to write home about. Everything there is smothered in shredded carrots and fiberous leeks. Not to mention it's overpriced. Bad coffee, too, but that's not surprising. All in all? Decent place and location is close enough to lots of restaurants and the downtown area. read more

The most terrible treatment my bride and I have ever experienced at a hotel. Hospitality is supposed to be their trade, but we received the opposite. My wife and I reserved the honeymoon suite well in advance. On the eve of the big night, I phoned in just to confirm that everything was still in place. I asked the female representative who answered the phone if I needed to do anything further to confirm my reservation, she replied no. My bride and I arrived at approximately 2:30 AM on the night of our wedding, and were declined a room very rudely by two male desk clerks. They lost my reservation, or didn't have it. There was no real explanation given. They told us this in a very abrupt manner, not apologetic at all. It wasn't as if just one of them serving us at the front desk, they both got words in. It was almost as if two thieves were pretending to man the counter while the third was robbing a cash register in the back. They just didn't want us there at all and they made it very clear. My bride, in full wedding gown, began to cry and sat down on one of the chairs in the lobby. The clerk asked her very directly "What are you crying for?" to which she replied "Isn't it obvious?" They said to us that they were completely booked for the night, suggested that we try another hotel and that they could call one for us. That was the kindest offer they could muster; I'm surprised they even offered to let us use the phone. My wife drove us all the way home that night. The kicker was that they e-mailed me my reservation info by mistake in two mistaken e-mail leaks, TWO YEARS LATER. They did have my reservation after all. This review doesn't cover what kind of amenities the room offered because they didn't let us in. Reservations and wedding gowns are not enough proof for them, apparently. My boyfriend and I were in Barrie for work, it was a long and hard weekend and we live 6 hours away from Barrie. I wanted a room with a hot tub, there were none available. So desperately wanting to relax, I decided to take a regular room as long as we could have a hot bath. When we got in the room, to my surprised I noticed there was NO BATH at all!!!!! Just a shower! So much for relaxing. We were exhausted and we were anxious to lay down in a nice comfortable bed. When we undid the bed, another surprise came to our attention! The bed was full of hairs!!! Yuck!!! I wanted to cry 120$ for no bath and the bed had not been changed! I'm a clean freak and it's all ready hard for me to stay in a hotel room as it is, with all the stories we hear. Called the front desk for them to come and change the sheets. Took 20 minutes before someone came to the door and she just gave us the sheets, she apologized but didn't make the bed! Not like I didn't have enough of my day. The bathroom floor was crooked. The bed was a lil hard for my taste. Bottom line I didn't get what I was looking for after spending 120$ I sat in the room and I was sad. :0( read more

This is an entirely reasonable, cheap hotel to stay at when you need to be in/around the Barrie area. The rooms are entirely adequate (though one of the plugs in our room didn't work, rendering one of the two beside lamps useless). For the most part the beds are comfortable (though a friend of mine's bed was completely caved in the middle). I found the restaurant and room service to be a major negative, though, because of the service. We ordered a combo that included a pizza, wings and two soft drinks, and I ordered a beer as well. The beer never arrived, nor did the soft drinks. After calling down to inquire, I was rudely informed that I was never charged for the beer and the soft drinks never came. The free breakfast offered is extremely basic. Bread, pastries and coffee (a problem when you have celiac disease, which means you can't eat gluten). We tried to order from the menu (there were gluten-free pancakes and french toast on the menu), but apparently they were completely out of gluten-free products that day. The eggs and bacon we eventually ordered were fine, but expensive. The front desk staff is friendly, but lack professionalism. They openly talk about guests to one-another while guests are standing right in front of them; there's little grace or poise there that one typically expects from your front desk representatives. The amenities are fine. The staff could use some improvement, but are fine. The restaurant is expensive and limited, but if you're allergy-free and don't mind paying well over market value, it's also fine. All in all, the hotel is fine. Better than sleeping in the back of a van, anyways. read more

Pretty good place. We had a late check-in and there were no problems. Prices were reasonable, staff were friendly. The room itself smelled a bit stale but not a big deal. I checked both Queen mattresses and didn't find any bedbugs. Complimentary continental breakfast was fine the next morning - nice that they had individually packaged yogurt as well as an assortment of pastries (some were not that fresh tasting). Overall a decent place, worth the money. I'd stay here again if travelling through Barrie. read more

Stay away from room 207 if you plan on sleeping. It's right next to the stairwell and late into the night and very early morning all you hear is the thumping of people walking up and down the stairs. It's also the wheelchair accessible room and has no bathtub and a very awkward shower system with the adjustable shower head always falling down. As well as the extremely loud bathroom exhaust fan comes on with the light with no way to shut it off. There's also no "do not disturb" signs in the room and housekeeping was knocking (more than once) while we were sleeping as my wife flew all night and was trying to sleep late into the morning.
