We love the ease of communication with the director, assistant director, and teachers whether it be through email, written form or on the phone. The Infant A class is where my daughter first started at 10 weeks old. Ms Theresa and Ms. Afrosa and Ms. Elizabeth were the teachers who cared for my daughter. They all took great care of my daughter and even took the time to listen to my concerns when it came to having a breastfed baby. I did not receive as great of support from other centers when it came to being a breastfeeding mother so this was a plus. When my daughter was moved to Infant B classroom the teachers did everything they could to make sure it was a smooth transition. When I wanted to bring in food from home they worked with me to make sure this was something I could do for my daughter and still follow their required USDA guidelines. I was and am still pleased with the curriculum and guidance my daughter receives at Kindercare. I am given written notice and email notice about what she will be learning in the classroom and how I can implement those skills at home. I can see my daughter thriving because of the consistancy of curriculum she is receiving at both home and at daycare. Ms Maribel and Ms Yasmin have been the teachers caring for my daughter in the toddler room. I too experienced open communication on how my daughters day went and if there were any concerns. It is clear to me that the teachers here at the center really do care about my child and her growth as a person. This past summer my daughter was able to participate in their summer program. Before the summer began I was given written notice of the program and what activities my daughter would get to participate in. She really enjoyed the puppet shows and the water play days. The older children would go on field trips to local water parks while the toddlers and preschoolers had water play at the Kingstowne Kindercare location. When my daughter turned two she started her transition to the Discovery Preschool classroom. The teachers, again with the great communication, took the time to go over the changes my child would be experiencing in this classroom. They start potty training and shared with me their tips and techniques so I could implement them at home. This does not mean they are open to what I am doing at home and implementing at daycare. Other benefits to this daycare center is they are reliable. I have noticed the past two winters we have been enrolled with Kingstowne Kindercare they have remained open when other surrounding centers and schools have decided to close. Their reliability is important to me as a working parent who is not able to take time away from my office when surrounding schools close. They also have a great website and phone number system that you can call to see which centers are open, closed or delayed. They also have picture days in the spring and fall. They also have book fairs and with a child who loves to read I appreciate this.

Our child first attended 2 days/week as a 2.5YO and his vocabulary exploded thanks to his time with the teachers, staff, and classmates. Each class enjoys daily outdoor time, science class, music class, and special activities like a traveling petting zoo, puppet shows, etc. We receive updates & pictures every day via an app. The tuition is reasonable (honestly I think they should raise it, as it is lower than other schools we toured). The school has a lot of activities for kids, and I love they have music and science classes every week. My daughter also loves Mrs.Waddington - the Music and science teacher. She came home yesterday, and talked to us about the moon and the sun, how they move and solar eclipse! Children and staff wear masks in the center. Visitors are limited. Parents drop and pick up children at the front door. Staff: Mr. Kenny and Ms. Bibi, the center director and assistant director, greet families at the door for drop-off and pick-up. It is a warm, welcoming routine that we look forward to almost as much as our children. The teachers have been wonderful as well, and I appreciate how much love and attention they give my children. Communications: Mr. Kenny is an excellent communicator who provides detailed and thorough messaging about important updates. You can tell that he really cares about the well-being of families and the perspectives of parents. App: Through their app, KinderCare provides daily updates on what our children ate, how long they napped, potty details, activities, pictures, and more! I researched, interviewed, and toured over 15(+) schools in DC, MD and VA. We ended up on the waitlist at 4 schools... Flagstone, Madison, ADS and BH Carlyle. Within a month our dd started at Flagstone in the infant room and after the experience with our nanny, needless to say, I was petrified to leave my child with anyone... BUT Miss Keisha, Miss Suriya, Miss I and Miss Dawn were amazing in the infant room! Not only were they kind and gentle with our daughter, but you can tell there was a genuine LOVE for her and all the babies in their care. Over a short period, we really felt apart of the Flagstone family and watched as our daughter flourished into an independent, loving and outgoing little lady. Needless to say, there is not a perfect childcare facility. The place is a bit older and does not have all the bells and whistles of some of the newer day schools in the area. With that said, Flagstone has the BEST outdoor space in Old Town and children go out twice a day. That is super important to our family. Also, most of the staff has been at the school for over 10 years, which is huge in an industry with high turnover. The biggest plus for us is the staff. The teachers and administrators have a genuine LOVE for each and every child, whether they are in their classrooms or not. It truly is a family environment and that is what we want and need in a day school. Since our daughter started at Flagstone, we have received offers from the other 3 schools and politely declined. Washing hands, sharing, helping set the lunch table, helping to cleanup, and more. They engage in redirecting behavior that can be distracting to other children. As a parent, this is a technique I was not aware of and I'm glad to have learned. I now use redirecting instead of timeout. The classrooms are designed for each age group. There are plenty of learning activities as well as fun toys, such as Legos. Every day my son participates in circle time, where his teachers provide instruction on the topics that they are reviewing. There is also plenty of outdoor playtime and one nap a day. Naptime/Quiet time is around 130 and is for two hours. The teachers are fantastic! They are not daycare workers they are certified teachers. Each classroom has a headteacher with two or more assistants. They are very organized and have activities planned for each day. I'm surprise my son doesn't come home with homework at 3years old :) Every day I am happy to take my son to Falls Church McLean Children Center because I know he's going to have excellent care and education. There are other programs parents can take advantage of through Fairfax County, I don't participate in those however they are available if I need them. Speech therapy is one of them. The office staff is very helpful! Miss Kathy, the director has a lot of experience in her field and it reflects in her management of the center.
