We attended with two children over 2 years before relocating across the country and feel immensely grateful for the time we had at MAOWO. Our children are more than ready for the next year of school thanks to the institution provided. The teachers make a special effort to live out the care, social and emotional needs of children as well. We will have memories to last years from our experience and recommend this school to anyone in the west Omaha area looking for the right school.

After that, we were lucky enough to come across Montessori Academy of West Omaha. First and foremost, I have always felt as though each individual family is treated not only as family (as cliche as that sounds,) but the school understands each family's unique wants and needs. I am a teacher and wanted my kids home with me over the summer months, this is one of the only Montessori schools in Omaha that not only allows that, but encourages it because "what's best for your family is best for us!" even though that translates to a loss in tuition for the school. I have never once thought of Montessori Academy of West Omaha as a school that only sees my kids as a tuition bill, which I cannot say the same for the other school we attended. This school truly embodies the Montessori philosophy of "follow the child." Our daughter looks forward to school, her friends, and being challenged where she is at individually. The small class sizes at Montessori Academy of West Omaha allow for my daughter to receive direct, specialized instruction. We all know kids are not the same, not all kids are interested in the same things, this school has proven they can nurture each child in growing academically, socially, and emotionally. With my experience in Montessori for the past 10 years, trust me when I say, you will NOT be disappointed in sending your child(ren) to this one-of-a-kind preschool.

We kept our kid there cause I felt like it was a safe place and I don't think they were mean or anything. But the entire philosophy is "Follow the child." That doesn't mean let them do whatever they want, but it does mean encourage and follow their interests and their level of development. These people were constantly focused on what level our kid was "supposed" to be at and acted concerned about her development, saying she was acting too young for her age, but then when we were concerned about needing medical examination or intervention they never responded. I'm not expecting them to diagnose my kid, but if you truly think there is a concern, then recommend a check-up or something. (Spoiler alert, it's been 2 years since then and she's just fine). And instead of encouraging whatever her interests were or letting her start slow, they would try to rush her into things and then get upset when she didn't show interest, like she was the problem for "refusing" to perform. (That's the term they used! For a BABY!) Anyway, I felt like they were nice to the kids despite all that, and they had nice activities, and since they were sticklers for rule following I felt like it was a safe place. Which is why they get 3 stars. But since then our kids have been attending another Montessori school that is much more attuned to the children's interests and tries to work on their level of development rather than pushing to work on whatever the teacher wants. Just pointing that out so that you don't think that our experience here is what regular Montessori is all about. It's actually the exact opposite.

I was teacher's assistant at MCA before I moved states to pursue a career as an actuary. I was able to work with all age levels from infant to 6 year olds and I loved working with each kid and watching them excited to learn and develop their skills. Not only was Ingrid a great mentor to me, teaching me the philosophy of Montessori and how to best coach a child through and activity, but the entire staff were also kind and energetic with me and the students. I've kept in touch with Ingrid since I left and she's been a great resource with advice and support. This is a great place to work with wonderful students and parents that attend.

The facility is in EXCELLENT, CLEAN condition. Each room full of natural light and is stocked with many fun and interesting activities and Montessori works. My daughter made several friends there. The owner, Dana, is truly a kind and caring person. She handled some Covid situations, which were unavoidable in any business, with extreme tact and professionalism. She showed clear consideration for all students, parents and teachers. I brought my concerns to her and she listened patiently and responded fairly. I had to make sure and leave a review after seeing that one disgruntled person has made an attempt to disparage Dana-- and for some reason Yelp considers that review the only valid one. I hope that anyone looking into Cornerstone will go visit and see for themselves what a great place it is.

We currently have three children (primary, toddler and infant) enrolled at Cornerstone Montessori and are blessed to be a part of their program. We truly have nothing but positive things to say about the Director, Dana Brannon, and the teaching staff in ALL classrooms. We transitioned from another Montessori in Omaha about 2 years ago; were welcomed with open arms and could not believe all of the things we were missing from the Montessori curriculum in our last program. Dana and Team really pride themselves on teaching our little humans to be the best versions of themselves all while grounding their work in the foundations of Maria Montessori and helping our community/friends around us. A few reasons why we love Cornerstone: -They are a well oiled machine -Communication(s) are clear and frequent -Their Montessori teaching curriculum is top notch -Expectations are firm, but fair so the entire class is prioritized -The level of care and compassion for our kiddos does not go unnoticed -Little/No teacher turnover -The facility is clean, bright, welcoming and organized

This place is extremely hit-and-miss, with many locations and classrooms MiNO (Montessori in Name…read moreOnly). We had our daughter here for over a year, and in the end I really regret it. We were on the fence, because once we started having misgivings, we worried that she'd made friends she'd miss. Even after knowing two families who pulled their children and told us how glad they did, we left her in. I think it was a mistake. We started at one location, where my normally very outgoing daughter cried every time we dropped her off. We switched to another location, where I was told that the first location was just acquired, so they'd revamped the classroom with Montessori materials, but none of the teachers were trained. While the second location was better, I noticed that many very normal Montessori conventions weren't followed. (I have two older kids who were in several Montessori schools for 10+ years, so I know the drill.) Teachers don't shake hands with kids when they arrive. No parts of the plant, no living/non-living signs, no land and water forms, no Montessori birthday celebration(!). At four years old, my daughter said she and several other kids had completed works that kids normally can't do until late in kindergarten, which leads me to believe that the work wasn't being done properly. Assistant teachers rotate regularly, and I never heard of a single one that was Montessori certified. In the end, the teacher we'd been with for over a year was fired without notice. Either she's way less dependable than I thought she was, or they didn't manage something well. After calling and demanding more information, they admitted that neither teacher in the classroom was Montessori certified _or even had any training_. This is a big company. They are good at (and focused on) making money, but they are not providing Montessori education except in hit-or-miss ways. In the end, we went to another community-based Montessori school with certified teachers that was actually cheaper. It's under new management now, but there are a lot of locations and classrooms and teachers that need addressed. I'm sure some people have good experiences here, but we most certainly did not. I hope others make sure they know what their teachers training and background is before sending their kids here.

I toured more than 10 preschools between Omaha and Phoenix and not one compares to Bluebird, including three other Montessori Preschools. We are on our second child at Bluebird, it simply has been life changing for our family and I would give it 10 stars if I could. Every staff member knows every student and they are all great individuals, not to mention it's the same group as when my son started. In other preschools we tried we've experienced high turnover, and since children thrive on consistency, it really interrupts the learning and experience they are they for. We have the option to have kept the kids home doing a home-school preschool but what Bluebird offers teaching the Social, Emotional, Intellect and Independence could absolutely not be matched. I believe THE WAY THEY TEACH and THE TEAM they have in place is what sets them apart, I can not say enough about the staff. The Director is phenomenal, the owner is there all of the time, maybe every day and the teachers and their assistants are just great at what they do. It's not too big and that's why it's like a little family, a family we are SO GRATEFUL TO BE A PART OF!!!

This happened at Blue Bird Montessori. There were only 5 kids in the classroom with 2 teachers and they say they have no idea how it happened. Nobody saw or heard anything. This is not a simple bruise or small scratch. This is BIG. During their investigation CPS did find "a toy box with rough edges that *daughter* could have placed her hand in which could have produced those large scratches on her forearm (from her elbow to her wrist)." When you send your child to daycare you expect they'll be cared for. If they would have told us this happened that day we would have been understanding. But to avoid the blame and responsibility by claiming to know nothing is much worse. This shows neglect and it raises the question about what they're hiding. For example, the next day our daughter got a small scratch near her eye and they told us about it. Understandable. Later the same week (January 7, 2021) she had some red marks on her cheek from placing her face on the snow trying to eat it. They also told us about it and filled out an incident report. OK, but this raised another concern. How much was she putting her face in the snow? Were the caretakers watching? Why wasn't she redirected to do something else? January 7 was the last straw and our daughter's final day attending Blue Bird. If your child currently attends Blue Bird please ask yourself if you've seen any signs of neglect or unusual happenings. If you're considering sending your child here just know you may not get the care your child deserves or the full story from them. Look at the picture of my daughter's arm. This happened at Blue Bird Montessori and nobody claims to know how it happened. Is this incompetence, laziness or something else? Is this the care you want your child to receive?
