As far as community colleges go, Montgomery College is pretty good. However, many of the campus buildings could stand an update and upgrade.

Did a college tour with my Daughter, wife and the one who is choosing where he will continue his…read moreeducation my grandson. The campus is huge 1,347 acres and I felt like I walked every inch. It is an impressive campus with a diverse community of students and faculty. Our campus guide was a sophomore, she was an adequate enough guide. We were able to see the Terps baseball team practicing and getting ready for next season. This is a Division 1 (D1) school, the top echelon of school sports. The football stadium ranks up there with a few NFL stadiums. The stadium seats 46,185 and if you're into college football you know that doesn't include standing room. As we traveled from building to building there were so many students encounters going about their daily routines, students in classes, students studying in lounge areas students lifting weights, students working out and students just relaxing in the lawn. Once again I was impressed with the 8 libraries on campus. The school is in the process a building new dorm buildings and the few they have already finished look very impressive. Now the older ones not so much. A lot of the older ones had window ac's and again a lot didn't. This tour was very informative and my grandson was impressed however he's still weighing his options. He had already toured 2 other universities. Also the ride from NY to College park Md. is 4 1/2 hours so not too bad of a drive.

At the University of Maryland College Park, we made a lot of memories that we will cherish forever…read more There is a lot of roud work all the time, but the campec is clean and nice.

Not a great experience, and would not recommend this school to anyone. The administration and…read moresupport staff are horrible. I'll start with the positives: most professors/ teachers are great.... others, leave a little left to the imagination. I had one class and the teacher actually had her "skinny-wrap" home business rep come in and sell the class wraps, and potions, and bs! AND try to recruit students for her home-based business that had NOTHING TO DO with what we should've been "learning"! Some teachers are great, and really care; and I did learn a lot, clinically. Other classes were a WASTE of time, and I was enrolled in the winter session, and had to trudge up there, IN THE FREEZING COLD, AND SNOW, TO MAKE IT TO CLASS, or risk failing because of attendance rules!!!! but like I said, most classes and teachers (professors??) were ok. I'll give them an "A" for effort... they really tried, but they couldn't make up for the LACK of professionalism, and at least, knowledge of the REST of the departments. The education and mentoring was great. But when it comes to the actual administration, and departments like, financial aid, business office, management, advisories, externship and career placement... they could care less, are only out to meet quotas, get your money, and have no experience in the field. The school doesn't offer a certificate through the License/Certification Required by most jobs: Certified or eligible to be certified by the American Association of Medical Assistants or as a Registered Medical Assistant by the American Society of Medical Technologists. They use a different certification that is barely recognized nationally, and you do not have the option to take the other exams. This place was one of the worse experiences of my life. Waste of money. The communication from the administration is very lacking, or none. Anytime I had a question regarding my financial aid, or payment schedule, I was given no answers, until SALLIE MAE came after me because the had "made a mistake" submitting my loan? Which is a federal loan, and affects my credit for the rest of my living life!!! I had to chase down answers, and got the run around, most of the time. I AM STILL looking for information on the so-called scholarship they offer for nursing school that probably doesn't even exist. They sell taht in orientation- "work hard, get a 4.0, and you'll get a scholarship!" yeah.... BULL............. as far as I know, it doesn't exist because after graduating, NO ONE CAN TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT THIS! As far as I'm concerned, it probably doesn't even exist.... just another ploy to get you in, get your money, and make their quotas!! They are defensive ( probably because they know their mistakes), elusive, rude, and just unprofessional. Horrible school. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy!

I went here for a couple of months, I was super excited because I was ready to go back to school…read more At first it was okay, everyone was super nice and everyone seemed to know what they were doing then the second MOD started. They split my class up without telling anyone and they just decided to dump is into whatever class they could. By far that was the worst case scenario. When I and four other students went to class everyone was hostile and rude. The drama there is too much, their are childish immature people there who have no respect for anyone. Some of the teachers were really good, I learned a lot in my lecture and clinical classes but nothing too much in admin. I wished that the school wasn't so drama filled and that they choose they administration better. I had a admin sharing my grades to people and talking about me to other students and teachers and even told one of my teachers that I said I was "going to slap the shit out of her". Not only did I go to one of the heads but they said it was my fault because one of her reps had told her I had been attacking her for months but I didn't even look at the girl. All in all, the teachers are good, the admin and the rest of the school are a bunch of idiots who just want your money and make you get into debt. I wish I had never even stepped foot into that school..I had so much drama during that time because of that school that I just left. Students would curse out teachers like as if it was high school. It was just bad. I wouldn't advise anyone to go to that school. Just go straight to college. 16,000 compared to 3,000 at a normal college. I'll take the 3,000.
