Avi came and did the estimate himself and though he wasn't there the day of the move the team he sent was wonderful.

After a recent move, I wanted to find somebody relatively local to service my piano and, after doing some research, found Jake. All I can say is that the reviews about him are extremely accurate! Communication was excellent, he is punctual, and he will give you a pretty accurate estimate on the pricing prior to booking the appointment. The piano sounded great after the initial tuning, and he also replaced some clips on the Dampp-Chaser that were damaged during the move, as well as replacing the pads and liner. I had some regulation work done on the piano about 20 years ago and was never very happy with the piano action after that work. I mentioned this to Jake and he told me that the regulation was currently not in spec. He spent some time asking me what I disliked about the action, and he felt like there were many things that could be done to improve the playability. We scheduled a few additional appointments, and I couldn't be happier with the results! I think it actually plays and sounds even better than when I first purchased it many years ago, so if you are looking for somebody to service your piano, Jake has my highest recommendation!

In all my years of training as a classical pianist, Scot Lockhart is by far the most…read moreunprofessional, unprincipled, and dishonest piano tuner I have ever encountered. Mr. Lockhart has zero integrity - he did not complete the job he was payed for, refuses to address the situation, and has thus cheated me out of $180. IF YOU VALUE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY, DO NOT EMPLOY THIS INDIVIDUAL. I emailed Scot a week before our meeting to schedule a tuning plus what is advertised on his website as the "upright maintenance package," which includes regulation of the action. One week later, Scot said he would arrive a little after noon. On that day, I emailed him at 12:30 wondering if he was still coming, and he finally showed up at 1:30-2:00. He then asked me what I wanted him to do with the action of my piano. I replied that, as I had stated in my email, I will be performing for GroupMuse and that I would like my piano performance-ready with the action regulated (i.e. equal key depth, smooth key motion, etc., you know, regulation) and the strings tuned. He then began explaining to me, as if I've never played piano before, that the keys on my quite new Wurlitzer console would always be hard to press down. I said I'm not concerned with the weight of the keys, but that I want the action regulated with the full upright maintenance package as I had hired him to do. The maintenance package, as advertised, includes "restore keys to original depth, regulate lost motion and key play, align hammers to strings, adjust pedals/new felt, clean keys, lubricate flanges." HE DID NONE OF THESE THINGS. He told me that he "didn't bring the right tool" with which to regulate my piano, but said that he could "work on the hammers." Wait...what? That is not what I asked for. I also have a muffling pedal that needed fixed, but he had to HAVE ME HELP HIM in order to fix it. But ok, no big deal, I just want it fixed so I can practice at all hours. He then proceeded to tune my piano and said that it was going to be $30 extra because I needed two tunings on the same visit (which is advertised on his website as a "double tuning"). Ok, that's fine, as long as my piano is performance-ready, I have no problem with that. He eventually finished and left: no regulation, no clean keys, no lubricated flanges, no maintenance. Later that day, while playing on my newly tuned piano, I realized that *one* of the keys was horribly out of tune, like it was playing two notes a semi-tone apart. In addition, there was now a clicking key. I then sent Mr. Lockhart a polite email, complimenting him on what tuning he had done, but asking him if he could finish the job I had payed $180 for and tune the key that he had missed and to repair the clicking key (which I offered to pay extra for). Mr. Lockhart repeatedly declined, saying that he had "done a lot" and "suggested" that I play the piano for a month or so and have him back for another tuning. Sir, didn't I just pay for a DOUBLE tuning? So, I payed $180, received an incomplete tuning, didn't get the full services we agreed upon, and am left with two unplayable keys that were playable before Mr. Lockhart worked on my piano, and he refuses to correct the situation. Save your money for a professional who values integrity and who takes pride in his work. DO NOT HIRE MR. LOCKHART, because he wants to get payed for doing as little as possible and to take advantage of people who he thinks don't know any better. BEWARE.

The entire house needed to be completely cleared in only 4 days for the final "walk through." I had already flown back to LA but was confident that I would find someone on Yelp in no time. I searched piano movers in the Westchester, New York area, read several reviews and then made a few inquiries over the phone. After getting a few price quotes, my intuition told me to go with Sherzod at "Magic Piano Movers." He was very nice to talk with and took the time to explain step by step how they would pack up my baby grand piano before they moved it to its destination in Monroe, NY. The price was $650 which included gas, tolls, packing it up securely/safely, and setting it up at the new location. He also asked if any steps or stairs were at either location since they charged an extra fee for any steps over 3. Sher was very honest and upfront which I appreciated. My cousins met the movers at my house at 9:00 am on Saturday. They told me that they were on time, early even, and did an excellent job getting the baby grand out of the house. They broke it down, wrapped it up to protect it and got it on the truck very quickly. It was comforting to know that my piano was in good hands while 3,000 miles away. I HIGHLY recommend Piano Movers.

Here is an example: "Unless a greater valuation is stated herein, the depositor or owner declares that the value in case of loss or damage arising out of storage, transportation, packing, unpacking, clearing or handling of the goods and the liability of the company for any cause for which it may be storage, transportation, packing, unpacking, clearing or handling of the goods and liability of the company for any cause for which it may be liable for each or any piece or package and the contents thereof does not exceed and is limited to the standard/minimum amount set by the comp any and based on the size of the instrument." I asked them to add the value of the piano to the contract and they refused. At one point they didn't want me to call so we had to go back and forth over text. Who does business that way??? To have the piano covered for its full value they asked me to pay $150 extra for insurance. How can a piano moving company not have their own liability insurance that covers the total cost of a piano??? Eventually I got tired of texting and went with someone else. Bottom line, train the people answering the phone so they understand the business, can make decisions and don't have to go back and forth to "the boss" and make the customers wait all day over text to get basic agreements settled. Very unprofessional.
