    Broken chargers for ev
    Alberto G.

    1. Rude unprofessional management in office (Andrew) 2. High rent increase after one year 300-500 3. Will tow your car 4. Malfunction items take long to repair 5. No charges available EVER for electric, broken chargers for over a year (picture listed) 6. Move out is hassle My rent for studio was increased 3750 plus apartment utilities was almost 3950 FOR STUDIO. Andrew office was rude. Sarah total sweat heart. Cleaning ladies are awesome. Maintenance (some not all) will argue with you instead doing proper repairs.

Notice where they lie about the leakage and the community manager Monica Hill then blames it on a "junior employee ".

TL,DR: Highly recommend not renting. Houses and community is nice, but the arrogance and rudeness of management is unparalleled. Houses - spacious, bedrooms are bigger than average and so is the living room. Appliances are decent, storage space is slightly limited. But good value for money if you just consider the house you get for the money. Keep in mind, the water is in general not drinkable due to the taste (they claim it is safe which might be the case), so be prepared to spend extra 40$ for water delivery unless you are okay with drinking hard water. Now the bad part, management. Note that this is based on multiple interactions with the management and not just one. Also, I do want to call out that the front office staff that we have spoken to in-person has been extremely professional and friendly, and all the rudeness probably comes from one person - the community manager Monica Hill. She has absolutely no idea what professionalism is and how to speak with people. Let me paraphrase one interaction with her. We had gotten a notice for bidet removal and threatening eviction if we don't remove it. We were outside the country and missed the notice, and upon arriving back did get a call from Monica. She asked us a date by which we can remove, I told her I will remove it but can I come into the leasing office to discuss. She said okay but you will need an appointment. She refused to book an appointment for me (which is fine) and asked to book using an app. She said if she didn't see an appointment by next 2 days she will go ahead with the next steps (which I assume is termination). I asked her what if I don't find an appointment by then? She said that's not her problem. Also, the reason I wanted to discuss the matter in person, was the noticed said there had been previous leakage due to my bidet already. I was 100% sure that was not the case. Monica told me, it was a junior employee who made a mistake. Later on, I figured out Monica was lying again. Coincidentally my brother who stays at another irvine company apartment got a similar notice in the past which said there was a leakage due to his bidet which again was not true. So I assume it is apparently a pressure technique used by irvine company, but the community manager chose to lie to my face. Note that, we are good neighbors in general and have been renting in the bay area for 5 years and haven't had a complaint against us anytime elsewhere. At Monticello, we have been served 2 notices threatening eviction so far. Another incident - we had kept the big water jugs outside, and instead of engaging with us constructively, the management sent us a 3 day notice. Okay, I understand they are not completely to blame here. But then the management is all talks but no action. When it comes to their duties they choose to runaway. They sent an extremely rude letter, asking us to remove our cars for specific garage cleaning time. They threatened towing if we didn't abide by it. Okay, even that's fine but guess what? As soon as I returned post cleaning, my cleaning spot was still thrash. There was no cleaning done properly, so why inconvenience the tenant and threaten towing when they didn't want to clean it in the first place? (Images attached).

VISITOR PARKING PERMIT POLICY UPDATE, Feb. 2024: Each guest limited to 20 days per year. (Note: 2 monthly dinners with family/friends is 24 days. 1 evening of baby-sitting per week would be 52 days. If you require in-home childcare, assistance, or health services... good luck?) In-person appointments required for guest parking permits over 2 hours. Appointment availability: M-Sa 10:30-12:30 and 2:30-4:30 Su 12:30-4:30. Permit requirements: Guest name, number, vehicle make, model, year, color, license plate. I am an original tenant, living here since 2016. During that time, visitor parking has been a constant problem. Residents would use visitor stalls instead of their own assigned parking, leaving few stalls available for guests. Street parking is not practical due to the size of the community and the fact street parking is not available on any side directly adjacent to the property. Despite the issue, this new parking policy is impractical, unreasonable, and places an undue burden on both residents and staff. Monticello is a 5-building, 825-unit property with 1,728 parking spaces to service residents, guests, staff, and retail shoppers and employees. The Resident Services Office (RSO) is only open 6 hours per day; 10am-5pm with a 1-hour lunch. How does management expect all residents to be served in a reasonable and timely manner? A more practical, less invasive solution would be a parking permit app where the guest takes a photo of the license plate and parking stall number to track for abuse. Other options are using an online system to self-print permits or installing a permit machine; both would also track abuse. In addition, the only guest information needed are parking stall number, license plate, and date/time; why make the process so complicated? Other aspects of the community: UTILITIES: Fiber internet access available; Silicon Valley Power is reliable with reasonable rates. CLEANLINESS: Inconsistent; staff does their best with their resources, but has declined over the years due to budget constraints and management changes. Pet washing area was previously cleaned once a week, now it seems to be random. Hallway vacuuming went from monthly to weekly, then almost stopped completely. MATINTENANCE: Staff are friendly and, again, do their best with what they are given. The buildings and facilities are aging and require more upkeep. The main access to the garage has been closed for months over the past year due to paver repairs. Access gates break frequently. Flickering or broken lights are present for months. FIRE ALARMS: There are frequent false fire alarms, typically caused by someone smoking (this is a non-smoking community). Over the years, the time to investigate has increased significantly from under 5 minutes to over 15. APPLIANCES: Kitchen appliances are okay. Echoing other reviewers, the washer/dryer is poorly designed and can only handle medium-sized loads (about 2/3 of the washing machine tub). LEASING/RESIDENT SERVICES: The original team was awesome, great service and communication. As with other attributes, this has also declined. Repair times are inaccurate or not provided; information is not consistently posted to the resident portal; office and amenity closures are not communicated in advance (e.g. At 3pm "Our office will be closed today from 3pm-4pm"). The office is now only open 5 hours per day. A few team members are still helpful and try to be accommodating, but it is difficult when others are inflexible or provide contradicting information. EV CHARGING: Took several years, but finally implemented an idle fee with a reasonable grace period. Charging fees are also reasonable.

so disgusting! my new car is towed away in my own parking slot and i paid $395 for this, just because the plate number is my temp plate when i bought the car and move into the apartment. The parking slot number is right and the valid date is right, and you said it is not my car? You disppointed me so much!!!!!!Never ever live here!!! And the crazy garage cleaning, are you trying to kick us all out?

Packages are unsecured, so expect yours to be stolen semi-regularly. Monticello's response is to post a sternly worded flyer to deliverers.
    Emily L.

I'm an original tenant of Monticello, and lived there from 2017-2022. Here's a few tips if you're considering moving here: 1. Get a credit card with purchase insurance for all your online orders. This way, you'll have a shot at being reimbursed when they're stolen after being left unsecured in Parcel Pending. 2. Invest in car insurance with a low deductible. That way, when your windows are shattered, or your car is spray painted with a 6 foot d*ck, you won't have to pay more than a few hundred dollars to get it repaired. Monticello won't contribute financially to the damage you received in your $125 a month parking spot, but you will get a nice email from them letting you know how concerned they are about the rise in vandalism. 3. Mack's silicone earbuds are the most effective at drowning out the fire alarms. They go off, intermittently and without warning, around 5-10 hours a year. The planned drills go off around 40 hours a year. 4. When your upstairs neighbors have violent domestic disputes, Monticello will be very sorry for the inconvenience. They'll offer to come to your apartment to listen to the screaming and see if it's bad enough to do anything. Unfortunately, they'll tell your neighbors exactly when they're doing this, so they'll be on their best behavior. It's best to just call 911 directly, especially for the 1 am incidents. 5. Some patios have the dryer vent built into the wall instead of outfitting to the outside of the building. As a result, your patio will be constantly covered in dust and lint. (This will not be improved by emptying your lint trap more often, which was Monticello's solution.) Invest in a handheld dirt devil that you can use every time you do a load of laundry. 6. When you have guests over, take the elevator. That way, they won't see the dead roaches, bags of dog feces, empty drink containers, and general filth in the stairs. I want to end by saying that the resident services, security, and maintenance teams at Monticello are truly wonderful. I was conflicted to even write this review because of them--they genuinely care about their tenant's experiences and are always there to support as much as they can. They really tried to help me with many of these issues. But there's only so much they can do about the inherent design flaws and overall mismanagement of the complex. None of this information is new to the people who work at Monticello, who spend their time there trying to put lipstick on a pig. So, whoever in corporate reads these messages and places the blame/responsibility to the staff who are doing their best with the resources they're given: it's not them, it's you. Invest in better security, better construction, and a bigger staffing budget, and many of these problems go away. Until then, future tenants beware: as it stands today, Monticello certainly isn't worth the $4,000+ monthly price tag.

SHOPPING CARTS AND SHOES THROWN AROUND IN WALKWAYS
    Shashank R.

Extremely poor apartment community. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. - Fire alarm "testing" every once in a while - This week they continuously rang the fire alarm the whole day with very little warning. - They are taking this further with "pretest" alarms. Extremely frustrating and makes the community unlivable. In the age of WFH how is this acceptable? I had important office meetings that I had to cancel. - we had to literally go out and camp in our cars outside while they tested. What are we paying the rent for? - No cleaning of common areas - Extremely dirty walkways, trash chutes always full - Common areas with shopping carts. Seems like I'm living in a HOMELESS SHELTER. - Dog poop and pet litter in common areas that are not cleaned. Would rate 0 if yelp allowed. If you're looking to move in here, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

How is the water at Monticello? Is it hard / how hard is the water?

The water is unbelievably hard and it has taken a severe toll on my shower head, kitchen sink faucet, and clothes.

I have heard a lot about fire alarms randomly going off through the early morning and day - is this still an issue? I'm thinking of leasing here and there was an alarm going off during the tour - are there metrics around how often this happens?

This continues to be an ongoing problem.

Is the water hard and does it leave scales in utensils, appliances, clothes, tubs and sinks? Do you need bottled water for cooking etc? Some hardness is to be expected. Thank you for letting me know.

Yes. Water is very hard. it leaves scales on utensils. you need bottled water for cooking.

    Any updates on Nov Hill?

Hi Pete! We are looking forward to a January 8th opening! Wishing you all the best,…

I forgot to ask the leasing consultant when I took a tour some days ago. Is the flooring real hardwood or is it laminate?

I believe that they are wood laminate.

I forgot to ask, is the Raleys Nob Hill open yet?

Hello Shannon, Nob Hill is slated for opening on 12/6/17. Thank you for asking your question and…

Is the retail area associated with this development open yet? There are expected to be some stores/restaurants.

Current plan we hear: Starbucks October…

I wish I could write a better review but I'm so disappointed by what was previously a great place to rent. The buildings are quite dated and the updates that have been made are of the cheapest quality. The old carpeting in the buildings was replaced last year...we all thought what had been placed was the liner and the installation people would be returning to lay the actual carpet. No...the carpet is just that thin and it causes sound to reverberate through the halls. The vinyl flooring in some units is cheap quality and poorly installed, so that it's constantly lifting. They continue to permit cigarette smoking on patios and balconies, and public areas around the site, which means there's smoke coming in through the windows, patio/balcony doors, and vents, regardless of whether you smoke. The complex spent three years and a lot of money to update the property, with the pool and hot tub, bbq area, and clubhouse were all unavailable during this time. The big reveal after all the work reflected that the only thing changed for residents was a nicer bbq area. The pool and hot tub, and all the chaises, tables, and umbrellas are the same that have been there since my initial residency. The clubhouse, which is only open during the management's working hours (unless reserved for a private event), is gorgeous but the main change is a remodel of the office space. The management and facilities staff are the only people who use the "clubhouse," and in great part due to the hours it's accessible as well as the fact that whenever someone goes in there, it feels as if you're interrupting the office staff having their breaks, hanging out and snacking, etc. All the parking spots were redesignated this past year as "assigned" spots, in a clear attempt to increase income for the management company. Residents must pay an additional fee monthly to reserve a spot, covered or not, and there are virtually no unassigned spots for additional resident cars or guests. The office staff regularly "patrol" the parking area for parkers who aren't "registered" and when discovering someone, send an email blast to the entire community calling out the car's identifying details and threatening to have the vehicle towed within a certain number of minutes if it's not moved. During weekends, the Springwood staff tend to park in the spots reserved for "new residents." Management sends email frequently admonishing residents that they've "been told" they cannot have anything on their balconies/patios, hallways, lobbies, etc. as if the residents are young children. I don't like when people break rules meant to ensure people's enjoyment of their rented home either, but there's a way to do this respectfully and a way to make people feel bad. When there are problems with the laundry room machines, the office staff will not assist. The response is that they haven't been trained on how to use the equipment or its software and residents have to contact the vendor (which never seems to result in a response). A dryer has been non-functional for months but despite numerous requests, the management staff have done nothing to ensure that it's repaired or replaced. With only 4 washers and 4 dryers per building, having one out of order creates a difficult situation for residents trying to do their laundry. On the plus side, the maintenance staff are without exception friendly and responsive. The apartments are in a great location and the people living there are generally quite nice, but there are few amenities and the management staff sometimes make residents feel like interlopers.

Today, two of us were walking through chatting, and a Meadows property manager/worker yelled at us from across the parking lot, maybe 40 yards away, asking who we were. Thinking he had mental issues or a salesman, we kept walking. He then approached and harassed us, screaming about how we were trespassing, continuing verbal abuse and harassment and followed us until we left the property. We talked quietly, did not approach anyone, hang door tags, play music, or toss trash. We didn't go into the center apartment area. We're both computer professionals. This employee could have gotten on his golf cart and quietly told us sorry we cannot walk thru his parking lot and to kindly exit the premises. Instead, he chose to yell threateningly across a parking lot and come after us with verbal abuse. A good way to judge apartment management is how they treat visitors. Because as residents, you're going to get more of that - or worse. Stay away from this complex.

Meadows is very safe and it's also in a good location - it is right off of Central expressway and it's close to 237 and 101. Apartment was spacious as well. I also thought the gym was great and bigger than a lot of other apartment gyms so amenities as good here. There is a community pool as well. The management company was very responsive with service requests. We had an issue where the central AC was spewing out dead bugs so the maintenance team quickly came in and gave us a new AC. Meadows also hosts some events every couple months (coffee station, Easter egg hunt, food trucks, etc.) which made the apartment complex feel more like a community. One of the drawbacks about this complex is the lack of natural light in the some of the apartments. Because of all the tall redwood trees and the direction of our apartment, we didn't get much light. For the most part, we had our lamps turned on all the time. And because of the trees, leaves would fall into our balcony so we had to frequently clean that up. We decided to leave once the lease was up as we found a place with more natural light closer to our offices and meadows was going to increase the rent by $250 a month. If it wasn't for the light situation, probably would have continued to stay here. Overall I enjoyed living here, and if you are ok with less natural light or you are able to get an apartment facing the right direction, then I recommend!

The place is nice and cozy with your own balcony/patio. My name is on the lease and dealt with the staff. They are one of the most responsive ladies I've had the pleasure of dealing with. They were prompt in responding to any questions. They were very helpful, kind and professional. Shout out to Amica and Joc. They run Renaissance apartment with compassion, kindness and professionalism. Parking is not a problem at all. You have an assigned covered parking and lots of guest parking. They have lots of EV charging station as well. The move out process was seamless. We got our security deposit back less cleaning service as I am not about to spend my days cleaning it lol. We felt safe here. There's a patrol car/guard going around the complex. THANK YOU Renaissance apartments and to your staff for an amazing 3 years. I highly recommend this place.

A special shoutout to Johniquewa, who goes above and beyond to make the complex feel both professional and warm. Her friendly demeanor has truly made a difference in our experience. We've loved our time here, and if we ever return to Sunnyvale or the South Bay Area, Renaissance will be at the top of our list. Highly recommend! PS. The complex is conveniently located right behind Braly park, which is great for dog (and personal) walks!

I lived at Cobalt for a whole year and recently moved out. I am simply compelled to write this…read morereview because I really enjoyed my first year in the bay area at Cobalt. The apartment is very close to the valley fair mall which I liked. The leasing staff is very responsive and friendly. I particularly interacted a lot with Alexander and the nice janitor guy, and they were both very pleasant to work with. I lived on the 4th floor and had no issues with break-ins and noises, but I cannot speak for lower floors. I did notice a couple of homeless people starting to sleep outside the 1st floor parking garage, but I think it's impossible to keep them completely gone. Security patrols are usually always going around, so I never felt unsafe. One thing I wish I didn't have to deal with is a skater guy who screams at people and picks fights across from McDonalds. He yells and jumps in front of cars multiple times a day and causes a scene, and I wish I didn't have to hear him scream for hours on end as a remote worker. Other than that, I was pretty happy with Cobalt. I had to move to Mountain View to be closer to work, and now I live at Hadley, but I surely miss Cobalt!

BE AWARE OF ANTS IN THIS APARTMENT!!!…read more We moved here in August 2025. Everything went fine and we even already renewed our lease, but just recently ANTS started to appear massively in our unit. I'm very particular about the cleanliness, so I'm pretty sure our unit is clean as we do the dishes immediately, take out the garbage daily, and clean the floor weekly. Ants started to appear since around last month in our bathroom. At first, we did reach out to the leasing office, and they sent the pest control team. However, the pest control team said they could only spray some chemicals into our units to eliminate the ants, but it won't be a permanent solution and ants will reappear over the whole summer - June to October. Once the ants find a trail to your unit, they will find you again and again. The pest control team suggested not to use chemical spray and just use some cleaning liquids to kill the ants and wipe them out. I asked them if they would do the apartment-wide pest control. They said they would do it, but it WON'T keep ants from coming, and there's NOTHING more they can do about it. We used the cleaning liquids and wipe the ants out afterwards. Also since the leasing office and the pest control team seemed to be passive about this problem we felt like we could only deal with this ourselves. We decided to buy the ant gel and planned to seal the gap. However, before we got the gel, we've observed that ants appear more, more consistently, and in different places - in our bathroom, living room, and even bedroom. We're still contacting the leasing office. We wish we could find a better solution soon.

Talk about pride in renting and quality of living with not a lot of fuss. I love living at Balmoral…read moreApartments and so does my son, who calls it our "treehouse". Here are some of the reasons for our appreciation: 1) super helpful during our move across the country. 2) The Staff Team, what staff! They are a gem! Almost, your daily family that you can count on. If something needs fixing, it is quickly fixed before you can bat an eyelash. 3) YOU ARE SAFE! For those of us with a little anxiety about safety - when you lay awake at night, you can sleep knowing you are safe, I do indeed count my blessings (and the locks). They take security seriously, and that's why I absolutely could live at Balmoral forever. 4) I echo the other reviews, they treat their tenants with the utmost respect and their warmth, just makes you feel happy to have landed in this spot of the universe. 4. A bit about the building: its surroundings are always kept clean and beautifully manicured. The interiors have top trimmings, from self-closing toilet lids, to timers for the ceiling fan, to perfectly sealed storage units, bike locker and your very own parking spot! 5. Proximity - TO EVERYTHING! take a stroll to Monticello - and you have a good variety of food, the quaint Nob Hill store, Orange Theory, Vitality Bowls, Hair Cuts, KonJoe Burger, Indian Cuisine, CPK and Starbucks. Best of luck in your search, although if you are reading this, then you are already in the right place.

He use to create artificial issues and then use his shell company to fix them. so basically he was ripping off both the renters and investors at the same time.
