Four of us had dinner. Two of the meals were very good and two were meh. But the real downer was our server. Suprising for a Starks restaurant. He acted like he had better things to do. Literally walked away as I was asking him something. Never checked on us - more drinks etc ? Had to ask for more water. Dirty dishes sat in front of us 15 minutes until I flagged down someone else. Wife had to pick something up at Montgomery Village so decided to have a late lunch. Lot's of options there, we decided on Monti's which just finished up a renovation. Good choice as we had a nice relaxed lunch with tasty food. Walked in and were seated for our 1:30 reservation. Sipped some water as we looked at the menu. Some new items and many old favorites, something for everyone for sure. DW had Mussels in a tasty and spicy Romesco broth. Flavors were very good. She also ordered a side of frites which were crisp and perfect with the Mussels. I had Monti's Cristo, Ham, Gruyere, Sweet Onion Jam Toasted Brioche. A large sandwich and very tasty. We both had iced tea with the food. Service was very relaxed, we had as much time as we wanted. The renovation looks great, new seating options along with new paint and an even better patio. So excited to make my way back here after the remodel! So blown away by how beautifully remodeled everything is, really loved how it feels like there is more seating now but it's not crammed feeling what so ever. The Dungeness crab deviled eggs are something I come for every crab season and they are always the star of the meal. Was so happy to see my favorite, Erin, from bird and the bottle transferred here! This is our 2nd time to this place but the first time I don't remember how my experience was. My husband and I came here for a last minute dinner date. Our reservation was for a later time but we tried to come in 2 hours just in case they have a table available, and they did due to cancellation. We sat down and we were given water but our server took a little long to approach us (I get it was a busy night) which was a bit disappointing. My husband ordered the flat iron and he liked. Meat was tender and pretty tasty. I ordered the salmon with couscos and it was delicious, the only thing I didn't like was the nuts in my couscos. Ahi tuna was good but needs more flavor. Finally was able to visit Montis after their renovation. We went for dinner and drinks at the bar. It was Saturday around 5:30pm and bar was completely open but by the time we finished up it was completely full. The food was really good especially all the pickled vegetables that came with the lamb burger. A little disappointed with the Pineapple Express cocktail- I didn't taste the pineapple, it just tasted like a spicy margarita. Overall the staff was great and it was super cute inside. After our wine tasting in Sonoma Valley, we dined at Monti's for the first time last Friday. I was glad I made my reservation for 6 as the restaurant got busy after us. When we parked at the plaza lot, we did not find the restaurant immediately. So I called & the hostess gave us hints & found the restaurant. There were two hostesses greeted us and happy that we found them. We were sat on the booth table. My friend thought it was small for 6 but the hostess said it was the kind of table they give to at least 6 diners. The server arrived and asked if we wanted any drinks. We just ordered ice cold water; 1st it was a hot day & 2nd we came from 3 wineries. We started with 1/2 dozen of Oysters. Then followed by Spread & Bread, Charred Octopus, Black Mussels, Fried Calamari & Lemon Tagliatelle. A friend ordered the Flat Iron Steak separately since she does not eat seafood. She enjoyed the steak.They missed serving the bread for the mussels broth so we asked. Also my friend tasted the mussels broth was salty. The ambiance was nice, the hostess & our server were friendly. The chef needs to adjust the salt on the mussels broth, otherwise, the food was delicious. We received the bill and found there was a bottle of Rose of Pinot Noir $48 charged. We called the attention of the server. She apologized & pointed to the group of women outside dining had similar order with ours. The server talked to them and a woman extended her apology through the window and we acknowledged her. The server returned with our correct bill and apologized. It was fine actually, just a honest mistake. If there is 1/2 star, I would give 4.5. Came in for dinner with my dad after their recent remodel. It looks great, all the upgrades made sense and it upped the vibe. I love elephants, so I love the new large woven elephant decor. For dinner, we shared Terri's little neck clams. My dad Terry loved them ;) I did ask for bread to go with and unfortunately our sever forgot so that threw off the flow. I don't know if she was having an off night or just a busy one, but we did not feel like a priority. We found ourselves having to reach out to passing servers or bussers to get the bread we ordered, another drink, the fries my dad ordered with his burger and hot sauce. She just was not around, we waited, but had to reach out. Just a bummer to wait to eat your food so you can still enjoy a drink with your meal. It was a weeknight and not super busy so not sure what the issue was. However the food was delicious and everyone was very friendly, including our server when she was around. Back to the food, clams good but recommend a side of bread to soak up the yummy garlicky broth. My dad loves their lamb burger and was very happy to see it on the updated menu. It hit all the right notes. Just bummed the fries didn't come out until he was just about done. I had the swordfish and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Heard that they will close for a remodel soon and will have a new set of menu and we decided to come here before everything changes. We had calamari, baked mac and cheese, brussel sprouts, and goat cheese spaetzle. The food was good great. I prefer brussel sprouts from other Stark restaurants more (Willi's Wine Bar) but it was still good. Goat cheese spaetzle was good but I wish they put more portabello mushroom. There were only 2 skinny (to be honest, sadly looking too) on it. The service was very fantastic and quick. Our server and another lady (another server but came to help our server) both were very sweet and made sure everything was great for us. We cannot wait to see what this place will look like after the remodel and menu changes! We'll miss the current menu but are also excited about the new Monti's! read more

The hostess was a pompous hag, who pretended like we'd have trouble getting a booth at 4:30 in the afternoon. Calamari was excellent, but the pasta entree's were just OK. They also fried slices of lemon which was interesting. 6/10 Lamb burger: perfectly cooked to medium, the yogurt and pickled red onions helped balanced the heavy lamb. Happy they continue to offer their lamb burger, scoured their menu for the truffle fries but that had been discontinued. Update is rosemary, blue cheese fries. Decided on ordering plain fries with spicy aioli and ketchup (completely fine alternative). Tried their lavender lemonade cocktail, tasty and refreshing during the 100° heatwave. A little mix up with the drink order, but the server straightened it out right away. The service was so attentive, you would never know the place was packed. The refresh that Monti's has done has been an amazing positive change in every way! I have had several meals there since the refresh and everything has been outstanding! The menu is really something special now and feels so much more on par with all the other stellar Stark's offerings. Their brick chicken is possibly one of the best I've ever had and I hope it always stays on the menu. The deviled eggs with crab are literally the best I've ever had. Loved the crab pasta and pizza we've tried there. The grilled octopus was delicious and cooked perfectly. Honestly everything has been exceptional and what was once more of an afterthought in the Stark's lineup has now taken a center stage role for me! Been here three times. Food is horrible and tasteless. The "steak" was served on top of wet veggies, making the meat mushy and wet and tasteless. NOT good. Salmon is bland. Try some Salt or something! And the chocolate torte, twice I've ordered it, and both times, it burnt my mouth, was served way too hot. I've never had torte heated up to a bazillion degrees, why ??? And it tasted horrid! And the size of the salmon was so small I'm still hungry. For some bizarre reason it was served on top of some white crème crap, also tasteless, that ruined the salmon. My wife and I went here this afternoon at 4:20pm. We were greeted by an older woman ( old enough to be retired ) She asked if we had reservations... I said no but with the amount of empty tables available 17 outside and 15 inside I don't see that as a problem. She informed me reservations were a must at 4:05pm on a rainy wet Sunday afternoon. After a quick discussion outside I walked back in and informed yet another hostess to tell the older lady to stick her 32 empty tables straight up her elderly ass. We then drove over to the Starks Bird and the Bottle where no reservation was needed and had a lovely 150.00 early dinner. Restaurant business must be good to turn away customers at 4:30 in the afternoon. Honestly I was happy as I had previously reviewed thier menu and was happy to move on. I took a large group here and the service and food were excellent. The shared plates were a big hit. The flatbreads and the octopus were exceptional and everything else we tried were very good. Everything was very good including desert. The one exception was the lamb ribs that were just bad. They had a very strong off flavor and I really love Lamb. A fan of most of the Stark's restaurants, this one is a mixed bag for me. The prices are high and the portions and/or quality is sometimes but not always there. The fried calamari is lackluster; I once got the ahi tuna app and the pieces were very chewy it began to gross me out; I frequently get the chopped kale salad to go (have also had it in) and it's either very worth the $20 price tag or sometimes the ingredients barely seem to be there. Once I ordered the crab pasta and it came without the crab. With so many other competitors now opening in this shopping center I hope they can up their game to make it feel a bit more worth while. read more
