Tip: This cafe was in Harrods. It no longer exists.
I have been going down quite the rabbit hole trying to first figure out the name of the cafe that I had visited in Harrods for a late lunch. I couldn't remember the name. I did a bunch of searches online. It felt like it was a figment of my imagination. It wasn't.
Yelp came to the rescue. I dined here in December 2013. The listing is still here. Sadly, the cafe isn't.
Montreux Jazz Cafe set up shop on the third floor of Harrods in 2012. It opened in time for the London 2012 Olympics. I was fortunate to visit it a year later. The cafe stayed open for a few years, but it is now permanently gone.
This cafe is a nod to the Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland. There are a handful of Montreux Jazz Cafe locations in Europe, but they are mainly in various parts of Switzerland these days.
I came here for some nourishment after a few hours of walking a gigantic department store. I remember being seated at a table for two.
I have been looking at my photos of my London trip. The 2013 version of me was cool. I sometimes shock myself.
My table had a hook underneath for my purse. I had a purple purse back then. I still do now.
The music was chill and relaxed here. I loved the menu that looked like a record came out of its album sleeve. I am so glad that I took photos of it. The style of this menu is exactly what I had pictured it to be in memory.
I was definitely having a good shopping experience at Harrods. For lunch, I got a Heineken. I am certain that I went with the next best beer because Stella Artois wasn't available.
I got a glass for my beer. The pour was smooth. I enjoyed having a beer. I'm pretty sure that it was the only one I had on this trip!
For lunch, I got the club sandwich. I loved that it had a hard-boiled egg in it with mayo, tomatoes, lettuce, and more. The bread was toasted perfectly. I'm drooling.
I had a pot of tea and dessert afterwards. 2013 me was awesome!
It was cool getting two tart slices. One was a blueberry tart. The other one was a lemon one. They were delicate, but yummy. I wanted a smaller dessert and thankfully got it here.
It's bittersweet that this cafe is gone. I can always visit one of them in Switzerland, I suppose. I'm glad that I dropped by. I have fond memories of dining here.
