Once you sign up for a quote they will send your information but that's the last solid contact you will have with them. Car was not picked up or dropped off on time. Carrier tried to strong arm me for an extra $200 for suitcases in my car. Montway failed to communicate with the driver they were waiving that fee due to the drop off being delayed. They are TERRIBLE! Stay away! We booked a car transport through them to move our car from WI to CA. We were told when we booked they would pick up our car within a predetermined 5 day window which at that point was about a month away. On day 4 of that 5 day window with no communication we got worried as we were leaving on a plane for CA. After repeated calls and having to escalate the situation and a lot of anger from me, we were finally assigned a carrier who would be picking up the car 2 days after the original agreed upon window. We had to arrange a friend to send the car off which was a pain. The car headed west on a Friday and we were told it would be delivered on Monday. Yay! Nope. Monday afternoon got a call that the truck broke and we'd have to wait. Ok... how long.... They didn't know but would be in touch. The next day we called, truck still broken. The next day we called them. No news, truck still broken. We gave it two more days and called again. Mind you all this communication came from us not the company. We were finally told that the hydraulic system had failed and so our car was stranded (it was on the top of the carrier). But they still had no timeline. Sigh. At this point we were renting a car to get to work. Called again the next day and after much anger finally were told the car was coming that evening. What time we asked? They didn't know... What?!? We then asked about the final payment because we felt some give needed to happen. The dispatcher said they'd call customer service and get back to us. They didn't. We called later in the day but they were now closed. The car was finally delivered at 9:00 pm. We ended up arguing with the driver in the middle of the road over the final balance. Not ok but they also NEVER contacted us. Like ever. We always called them. Montway is a broker. They don't actually transport your vehicle. So if something goes wrong you're left dealing/arguing/disputing with the random person they got to move your car. What a nightmare! Go with a company that actually does the moving, not a broker. I understand that Montway is a broker so I will not comment on the driver or communication. Montway messed up my shipping address and sent it to another location. They never once sent me an email with the delivery address and then said it was my fault and had to pay an additional $250 to get my car. Mistakes are sometimes made but not taking responsibility and making right is another thing. Don't use a company that can't take responsibility. I guess I got what I paid for as they were the least expensive for a reason. The truck driver was not the best either as he wouldn't return texts or calls. read more

I received everything that I was told the person that transported. The vehicle was amazing. The communication was great I would absolutely recommend them. My car was picked up August 5th, 2025 from Stockton, CA and has been sitting in storage down in Tustin, CA for 10 days now with no updates, no confirmation emails as to the car being picked up OR as to when the car will begin route to Texas. Basically, complete ineptness on the part of Montway. I used Direct Express in the past and never had this problem. I really kick myself for letting your sales team dupe me into believing you could do your job. Montway has one job; to deliver cars. I was never alerted or warned that something like this could happen. Everything I was told was butterflies and rainbows by your sales team. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had a contract with these scammers to deliver my car from RI to Florida for $500. 3 weeks of back and forth with an agent who kept pushing me to agree to seven hundred fifty dollars and above, I finally demanded they refund the $150 deposit I zelle them. They in obvious breach. When I called they tried to say their failure to provide the service for the agreed upon price did not breach and refused to refund my deposit. The guy literally said it fell under the "act of God" clause in the contract. When I finally stopped laughing I told him I was a lawyer (I am) and that was probably the most creative nonsense I ever heard. They told me their office in California. Even though I could have filed a small claims action where I live and without question would have received a judgement in my favor, I was too time constrained and who to say they would pay. The chase on bc they obviously scammers. This is what, of course, they rely on. The difficulty in demanding specific performance or a refund. They were even arrogant about it. First-off, it is important to note that Montway is a broker/middle-man which accounts for the vast range of experiences among customers. When I called Montway prior to the transport they were honest about this and informed me that most of the drivers were great, but that there are instances where things go poorly. In my particular circumstance, the trucking company that was assigned to me was fantastic. US Road Inc in Philadelphia communicated well throughout the process. They called me the morning of pick-up and drop-off, providing an estimated time and location of where they would be. They were timely, trustworthy, and kept my vehicle safe. They also managed to do a full cross-country delivery in less than three days! My experience overall was great and the price to ship my vehicle was worth it, compared to transporting it myself. Overall everything worked out. They went the distance to resolve some problems, unfortunately they where problems they caused. There are some serious disconnects between them and their contracted drivers however they did fix the problem but not without a LOT of unnecessary drama. Make sure you are very clear about any special pickup or drop off requests or it could be a very stressful couple of days. But, again, they did put in the extra effort to get the driver to follow through on the promised service. It just would have been so much less stressful for everyone if they had just relayed the driver from the beginning. read more

I scheduled a guaranteed pickup on 10/24, but the truck driver wasn't able to pick up my car on the guaranteed date. As a result, I had to store my car at a storage facility to wait for another pickup. The next pickup was estimated to come in 1-5 days, but it ended up taking 11 days. Montway does what they say with excellent. They quoted a price and promised to not only deliver the car to the condo but to park the car. The price was within the lower range of other shippers. The communication was excellent and GAMU LLC went above and beyond picking up and delivering the car. Montway delivered on ALL promises and we would definitely recommend them again. This company saved my A**. I tried to use Road runner auto (don't use them ever!) and Road runner absolutely screwed me. The day before delivery they said they needed to drop my vehicle over 20 miles short of the contracted destination. Since the vehicle didn't run I needed to spend hundreds of dollars to get a truck and trailer to bring it the rest of the way. I reached out to ask them to recalculate the rate but they did not. I needed to ship my SUV from San Jose to Ohio for my son. I signed an agreement with Montway after searching through several auto shipping companies. Their price is about the mid-range of all the prices I have collected. My car was picked up on the 2nd business day of the 5-days pick-up window as they'd promised. It was delivered exactly 4 days after (They promised a 7~10 business days delivery window). The speed was incredible. It was almost like the car was shipped directly from San Jose to Ohio without stopping at any other places. I did most of my order online, probably spoke with a couple of reps on chat and that was it. The truck driver was responsive and making the initiative to contact me for pickup and delivery. Although I believe each one might have a different experience, I am very happy with the process and the efficiency. I would definitely recommend Montway if I'm asked. read more

This is my first Yelp review. Montway is a scam, and no better than any other broker in the auto transport industry. I paid extra for guaranteed pickup on 12/28 or 12/29. A driver showed up on 12/27 and I explained that I selected 28th or 29th. As such, they accomodated me and picked the car up early the next morning. In the interim, Montway claims that this first auto dispatcher was cancelled. The next day a new dispatcher called me (I've come to find it was a dispatcher from a different transport company) and I explained the car had been picked up. I actually figured the drive just hadn't given him the heads up yet as it was picked up not long prior to. Montway did reimburse me my order since it was "cancelled", by them of course, but kept $249 as a non-refundable cancellation fee... Customer service is worthless in all capacities, when I finally got to a supervisor she ultimately hung up on me. When I called right back they said she isn't available. Use someone else, they simply aren't worth it, communication is lousy. read more

Arranged for transport of 2008 S65 AMG from car dealer in NJ to son in laws house in Chicago area. No problem and was picked up fast, but When car arrived I did check condition of outside of car, looked ok. My fault did not check interior. This idiot truck driver decided to use a $200,000 car to store his greasy tires on the trip. Perfect expensive leather seats are now permanently stained with his tire tread marks. Detail company can not remove stains. Front and back seats! Did not see it until next day when I got in to drive car. Never using Montway again. Even tho they are the broker, you don't screw the customer by having totally clueless truck drivers access to your customers. read more

I chose Montway based on their 1,000+ positive reviews online and their price. I called their Customer Service number to ask a couple of questions and confirm what I was quoted. I was told by their Sales team that the vehicle would be picked up in 1-3 days from the "first available" date and delivered within 5 days. I had specific deadlines that I needed to meet and they told me it would not be an issue. I now know that they quoted a best case scenario just to get my business - that was not reality! Montway operates by quoting a price for shipment and then they attempt to broker a deal with any trucking company willing to complete the order for the price Montway offers. This is the problem as they cannot guarantee a pickup date, a delivery date or the final cost of the shipment. This is not disclosed in the discussion with the Sale Office. I contacted the Sales Office several times after signing my sales paperwork in an effort to get things moving and stay on schedule. I was then told by Montway that they do not have a specific pickup date and they could have a trucking company accep the order as soon as 5 minutes after we get off the call. When questions what the worst case scenario was, they could not quote me a date or a timeline. My first available pickup date came and went with no confirmed pickup. It then becomes a waiting game for a trucking company to accept their offer. 5 days after the first available date I was contacted by Montway and told they located a trucking company, however they wanted an additional $250 since the pickup location was "off their normal route". I agreed in the interest of just getting my vehicle shipped at that point! 7 days after my first available date the car was picked up and shipped to the house with an anticipated delivery date. I was provided with the shipping company's name, number and the driver's number. I contacted both parties soon after the pickup to confirm the actual delivery date. No response. Called again a day later and no response. I then called again a day before the anticipated delivery date and was told that they did not have an exact ETA and that I would be notified at least 12 hours before delivery. Again I waited. The truck driver finally contacted me on the day of the anticipated delivery and told me he would be a day late. I told him I was not available at that time and he would need to wait until I was home. He unhappily obliged and we scheduled a time to meet. The delivery itself was successful and I did not have an issue with the condition of the vehicle. Bottom line - Montway communication SUCKS! Don't believe the anticipated pickup or delivery dates or the quoted amount. If you must have the vehicle shipped on specific dates - find another company! read more

It took 10 days for them to deliver my car and they asked for 50% premium to the agreed price. Their action cost me dearly due to storage cost I have to pay to another garage. I would give zero stars if possible. I contracted them to pick up a vehicle I bought in South Dakota. I asked for an enclosed trailer. After 5 days of no communication or schedule o find that they put out a fee no one would have picked it up for. They then talked me into an open trailer. The driver picked it up on Friday and told me he would deliver it no later than Monday. He missed the Monday delivery. When I finally got a hold of him. He told me he broke down in OK. This was the opposite direction from South Dakota to San Diego. He told me he was leaving on Tuesday. He didn't leave until Wednesday and Montway told me he would be in SD Thursday night. No delivery on Thursday but guaranteed a delivery on Friday. At 10 PM on Friday, another carrier in LA told me they dropped the car to him and he would deliver it on Saturday. Montway did nothing. I chose his company based on reviews. We had scheduled a pick-up "no later" window. I felt that the company was not upfront enough regarding how there business model works. Note that this company does not have its own transport vehicles. They rely on independent contractors who have complete control of the scheduling. E.g., they will give you a date at which they go into the market and look for a driver. No driver than you wait. The driver may give you a 24 hour window, a 1 hour window, a 10 minute window, etc. You are the mercy of the driver. I learned all this from a dispatcher who said if I wanted a guaranteed pickup date then I would have to pay more. This company is nothing more than a middleman dispatcher operated out of IL. I used another company who also has the same business model but found me a driver on the same day as my start date who picked up the car. They get one star because of lack of transparency, bad follow-through and execution. read more

Gave 2 stars because after leaving feedback initially admin reached out to say they would review the case and give additional training to the customer care reps.
