Yelp once again overinflates a restaurant that I must go to, and for me to be review number 500 for this restaurant, to give this a three star review, is somewhat of a disappointment. The food is expensive for what you get, as everything is a la carte which adds up the total. It definitely feels Cobble Hill all the way through. I got the Truffle Burger, which I really enjoyed as it has a great flavor, but the plate is very naked for which it comes on. Look at my photos and you will see a naked tray with not much on it. Imagine if I just ordered a burger. I think you would be looking at two star review. $60 for Mac n Cheese bites (excellent) and Chili (mellow, no real heat), and a mediocre milkshake knock this review back on its derrière. My server was cute and nice, which is why I tipped her well, but I do not see me returning as this was an expensive experience for food that I know can be reproduced elsewhere for a lower price, and probably complementing the food instead of being something to order separately. I walked out thinking all the while what I did wrong to deserve such an experience. Good opportunity though whiffed on through. This experience will pass. read more

Okaaaay I'm giving this a 3 because the waiter was so nice and accommodating but if we're talking about the food then this is my honest review: I got the grilled chicken sandwich on ciabatta and all the fix ins in there really made me think this was going to be super seasoned and flavorful but unfortunately it wasn't. The chicken sandwich was pretty bland and the chicken was over cooked. I liked the sun dried tomato touch but it wasn't enough to move the needle. My friend got the bacon burger and sweet potato fries and I tasted the fries and they were also lack luster. He also mentioned his burger wasn't seasoned and also bland :/ sorry to report. Got a delivery as you do on a snowy night and what a disappointment. Moo Burger used to be our go to now, no more. Medium was medium rare, bun soggy, onion rings so wet with grease they were not edible. After all these years of being good customers, we are done. read more

Moo Burger is a small town burger joint in Brooklyn, and I mean that as a compliment. This place is just all around solid, with the menu you'd expect from a burger joint, and the nicest staff and owners to go with it. It's really an ideal place to bring kids too, which is not a bad thing to be in Cobble Hill. Obviously, they've got burgers. The menu is a little more limited during virus times, but you can get pretty much any type of burger you'd like, including swapping in bison or chicken in as your patty (or rolling with a tasty fried chicken sandwich). Do you want a mushroom swiss burger? A buffalo chicken sandwich? A classic bacon cheeseburger? All available. Burgers and fries and shakes go hand in hand, and you can also roll with onion rings, fried pickles, sweet potato fries, etc., and wash it down all with a vanilla shake or a root beer float. Just like you could in the 50s, I imagine (but don't really know what I'm talking about). There's a few nods to the times/neighborhood with a kale caesar salad special, gluten free bun options, and meatless Beyond patties available, but this is your classic burger joint, done well. I'm not even a huge burger person but this was excellent. A good mix of classics and more inventive burger options - we got the Truffle Burger (special) and the Hangover and both were fantastic. You can tell there's care and attention put into how the place is run. Service was also great and the ambiance is cozy and welcoming. Another great meal at the great Moo! It's been nice to sit out on Court Street and have dinner. Last night, two of us ordered burgers -- mine with the gluten free bun and Moo sauce. We also had the chop salad and some fries. It was simple, the waitstaff checked on us multiple times, and large families around our table looked like they were having a great meal. Our food here has been consistent --- the burgers are always well cooked, the salad fresh, and the fries are crisp. Sometimes I wish they'd try some new dishes though for now, it works. read more

Yeah- we had a good time at Moo Burger. My pro tip, if you're feeling guilty about getting the burgers, fry, AND shake, you can get a kiddie size shake which is just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth without going into sugar overload. The Location was quaint and quiet when we visited- a much needed break from Manhattan's hustle and bustle. We were also serviced by a water ninja of sorts- our water pitcher was mysteriously never empty despite us going through at least 3 bottles. They're just that good. Or maybe, we were just that engrossed in conversation. The Fried Mac and cheese was ball style, which we didn't realize. If I had to pick one thing on the menu to skip, it would be that. They don't have fast food prices, but this is going to be much better quality than any of the 20 dollar dine-in burgers you'll find elsewhere in Cobble Hill. Fries and shakes are also great. About that bun!? Okay, okay... word punnage (sic) aside, here's the rundown on Moo Burger. This family run burgery is a popular place to bring kids. The owners are awesome, the menu is kid-friendly, and the fare is healthy(ish)! Moo Burger prepares its dishes using better for you ingredients (organic, locally sourced, etc.). So if that's not your thing, look elsewhere. That said, the food is good. It could be great, but their burgers are a little too Jekyll and Hyde for me. On the plus side, the patties are well-seasoned, juicy, and flavorful. The burger options are also pretty inventive, ranging from build-you-own to Classic to more decadent choices like Mac & Cheese and the Hangover! The options even transcend cuisine and diet (think Banh Mi, Greek, pescatarian, vegan). We went with the Bacon Classic. What we didn't like is that bun! Way too dense (terrible texture) and way too much bun (burger-to-bun ratio is off). The product itself is terrific, just fix that bun! Since we don't have kids and aren't fans of the bun, we won't be back. But I definitely see why this place is a good choice for families in the neighborhood. read more

Moo Burger makes an excellent burger. I tried the classic All American with a slice of American cheese as a way to test this restaurant's grip on the fundamentals. I'm not a food critic, but it seemed like a sensible way to judge a burger joint. The result was absolutely stellar. The shredded lettuce along with a couple layers of thinly sliced onions and tomatoes really made a huge difference. These folks understand that stacking thin slices of an add-on ingredient unlocks so much flavor, and helps to make the ratios work. The beef was cooked perfectly and just as I ordered it, and the brioche bun was hearty and stood up to the juices. The bun did come across a little too bready, but I concede that this particular criticism may be best explained by my individual tastes and is not at all a reflection of their quality. All in all, this is burger mastery and I encourage you to try it. After selecting two burgers I noticed a chicken sandwich which also got my attention and I could not resist. This was also masterfully executed. Moo Burger could easily rename their business to The Cluck Wagon and believably stand up to any of the great chicken sandwiches we all know and love. The key (which they have down perfectly) is getting the breast cooked to the consistency that each bite breaks off evenly and retains its juice. The chicken sando is not just there to provide another option for anti-red-meat eaters -- if you skip the burger, you will not have FOMO from the chicken. read more

BOMB. I was visiting Brooklyn this past weekend and was desperately craving a burger. I wanted a non-chain with a Brooklyn vibe, and I definitely found it. The Bacon Classic Burger was incredible. Cooked to a perfect medium rare. It was one of the juiciest burgers I've had in years. They nailed the bacon as well. The tray looked gorgeous and tasted even better. The gluten free bun was surprisingly good! Most places don't have decent ones. The fries were crispy and delicious, although I wish they were either a few bucks cheaper or came with more. Really more of a three and a half, want to start off by saying I will probably order from here again at some point. Had the all American burger and the old fashioned hot dogs. I threw some jalapeños onto the burger cuz I like a little spice in my life. The burger was really good! Not stupendous but super solid and didn't fall apart, managed to hold all the ingredients actually in the burger. The dogs were pretty good but I was not a huge fan of their choice of wiener. It had a more sausage than hot dog feel to it. When you're having a dog with sauerkraut and mustard it's better to have a hot dog that has some snap to it like a Nathan's. The Nova Scotia was salmon patty with a slice of smoked salmon. I wish it was pile of smoked salmon. Definitely should have read the menu more carefully. Mexican grilled corn was a special, definitely worth ordering. Grilled corn, rolled in cheese and spices, its wonderful. Slight heat, a mild cheese, sweetness and char melds together in your mouth. Good combination. The hangover was a great juicy burger, topped with bacon and sunny side egg. Even if you aren't hungover, you will love this. Applewood smoked bacon, runny egg yolk work great on burgers. Even though I wasn't craving a burger, I couldn't get enough of this combo. My husband had to ask a couple times to get his burger back. We love this place!! When we lived in Cobble Hill Moo burger would always be a staple for us to go for shakes and burgers. It's tough to find quality food of this caliber without being full of artificial junk. We have always felt that Moo Burger always took pride in everything they made and it certainly didn't sacrifice flavor. The more impressive story is even after we have moved to Austin Texas, my wife and family make it a point to visit. Not just for the food but the friendly and welcoming staff. Today was no different. This review is not just of the food, but the entire restaurant experience. Moo Burger is absolutely one of the BEST burger restaurants/joints I've ever been to period! The overall experience of the restaurant and food was excellent! First and foremost, the food. I ordered the Brooklyn Chili burger and it was absolutely on the spot. The chili in the burger was some of the best chili I've had in my life as it had the perfect amount of spice, beans and meat in it. It wasn't too overwhelming, but very satisfying. The beef patty was big, very juicy and it was cooked absolutely the way I wanted it, medium rare. I also added a fried egg in my burger order and it complimented the beef patty very well. Honestly, there were so many burgers I wanted to choose from as there is an AWESOME and diverse selection on the menu. In addition to the burger, I also ordered the Moo Fries (Chili Cheese Fries) and WOW the chili cheese was the best I've ever had. I've had some great chili cheese fries in the past, including Ben's Chili Bowl in D.C., so this is saying alot! They are very generous with the amount of fries in the bowl and also the amount of chili cheese plopped right on top of the fries. The restaurant is also very nice, casual, clean and I love that they have benches in the middle of the restaurant for larger parties and 2 person booths (on the side) for the couples. The kitchen is right next to the booths so the booths were definitely my preferred seats of choice as I love watching the cooks prepare the food. The bathroom towards the back is unique too with the sliding door, which I found pretty cool. The bathroom is also very clean. The waiter we had was very attentive and I loved the plaid shirts worn by all of the staff. Overall, it was an AWESOME AWESOME burger joint that I will definitely come back! read more

It is not unusual for a New Yorker to be craving a good burger occasionally. That was me yesterday night, and a burger joint like Moo Burger is exactly what I needed. We walked in to find ourselves in a rustic looking establishment, with distressed, wooden furniture and two long dining tables for bigger parties in the center of the room. Great music was also playing - soft rock, 80s jams and artists like Depeche Mode for the elder and Hoobastank for the cool people. We were handed with menus on clipping boards - very trendy, with a number of burger variations and sides. My fiance went for the Court Street and I went for the All American, substituted with Bison meat, plus a side of sweet potato fries. He also ordered a beer and myself a homemade lemonade, which wasn't too sweet - just the way I like it. Now for the burgers - we absolutely loved them. The Bison patties were cooked to our preferences and the pairings and sauces were on point. My only complaint was the sweet potato fries were pretty soggy. I would've liked them a bit crispier. The service was also noteworthy, with the owner/manager checking in on us to ensure everything was a-okay. I'd definitely pay another visit when I am craving a juicy fat burger again. read more

And however they make their burger meat, props to the chefs behind the scenes because they are so juicy & cooked perfectly to how they should be! The burgers & shakes in this place are unbelievably fresh. The pumpkin pie shake I got around Thanksgiving time was unforgettable - it was so good & tasted like a true mimic of pumpkin pie. I also have to give the owner a lot of props. He hangs out at the restaurant and personally goes up to each table to make sure that every customer is enjoying his or her food. That ALONE deserves two extra stars - how many restaurant owners actually come up to you to see how you're enjoying your food? The atmosphere at Moo Burger is always welcoming. Staff is extremely friendly and this is definitely a place you can bring kids or groups to come join you for a bite. I'm always up for trying new burger joints so was intrigued by reading the Yelp review and gave Moo Burger a shot. My son & I definitely enjoyed our visit for lunch on a random Thursday. Place was relatively quiet but I'd assume it's packed around dinner time and especially on the weekends. Back in the day, you'd say this place has a Bohemian feel but I guess today you'd say it's more of a Brooklyn hipster vibe. The restaurant space itself is ample - perfectly sized in fact where you don't feel claustrophobic nor that it's too big and impersonal. Also very clean! The one knock on the infrastructure is that it has only one bathroom - could see this being an issue when the restaurant gets busy. I had the lamb burger (pictured) with a side of the fried pickles. My son had a regular burger with sweet potato fries. Everything was great. I am a fan of lamb burgers and really enjoyed Moo Burger's take with the olive remoulade - it really took the taste up a notch. To close we had small (kids) shakes - the value isn't great at $5 a pop for something in a small water cup but after indulging on the burgers, portion control probably isn't a bad thing! So, I hate to give these guys such low reviews, but, again, same thing. The burger was delicious, but for $5 for fries, they just don't give you enough. Part of it is the packaging, right? And that's definitely a management decision. Put the burger and fries or the burger and onion rings in one small box so, this way, you are limited on how much of the side you get because it's in the same small container as the burger. Cut me some slack, here; I don't run a restaurant, but I do have a sense for business. Potatoes are cheap. To double the quantity of the order of fries or to increase it by 1.75x would cost you, literally, pennies. Don't be a penny-pincher -- your burgers are GOOD, that is why it is exceptionally disappointing to notice that you are pinching pennies on fries and onion rings. read more
