Moody Garden is a must do when visiting Galveston for the first time. The Aquarium is truly an amazing place. It was definitely my favorite pyramid out of the three. The staff did an excellent job of being engaging and informative. Everyone there, especially the volunteers were so friendly. We got to watch staff feed the penguins and seals. We also got to watch divers in the 20-foot aquarium explain underwater about the environment and all the different fish. We even got to touch the stingrays. The rainforest pyramid was also amazing. I really wanted to see a sloth but no matter how much we stared and searched, luck was not on our side and did not see one. We did however see two monkeys, a lot of very unique fish, and beautiful birds. The discovery pyramid is my least favorite. The upstairs exhibit of music album cover art was a pleasant quick trip down memory lane, reminiscing about all the great albums we loved. However, I did not find it impressive by any means. The Nautilus, located downstairs was an impressive sight. The intricate and detailed decor of the room was captivating and the actress who played a part in the show delivered an excellent performance.

At 1st I was sticker shocked by the price, but I didn't realize it was GA for all 3 pyramids, the cashier failed to mention that to us. Once inside we had a great time and felt well worth. You can truly spend the whole day there comfortably. There are lots of snack carts and even a restaurant. Very stroller friendly.

1st visit and totally enjoyed the Gardens they have a senior ticket gets you into the rainforest and aquarium. Aquarium has many exhibits and an area to pet a stingray.

We had an amazing time. We went to only the aquarium pyramid I have to take a point away because it's so expensive. It's not that large so it's very hard to justify the $160 price tag for a family five, one of whom is a baby. The grounds are gorgeous and the aquarium is fun. I just don't know if I would be back for that price.

This is a must visit one time is good enough kind of place for families with children of all ages! Highly recommend finding a discount code online - tickets at the door is pricier. We came on a Sunday following a Monday holiday, so luckily it was not even busy. Barely any lines to any of the attractions. Get the ONE DAY PASS. It's worth it. It covers everything you need to stay busy for Sunday hours 10-4pm! Wear appropriate walking shoes and carry light. There are stairs and elevators. Moody Gardens is cashless. We ate the one restaurant Garden and it was ok. Buffet 6/10 and chicken wrap 6/10. It was ok. The patio seating was closed due to shortage of staff... boo. Park as close as you can to the visitor center entrance. It's free!

Breaking my review up into 2 parts. --- The resort itself Love it! It's so nice to visit here and just park and not have to leave again, unless you want to. There's everything you could want here, even beach, if you go over to palm beach. Very clean, staff is always nice. It is pet friendly, if you need it. That may be my only complaint here, I don't like to vacation with other peoples animals - but to each his/her own. Part 2 ---- We came for wine festival (2nd year). I love wine festival and am already looking forward to next year! It's definitely worth the price to get all 3 days and stay on premises. The welcome reception and Bourbon tasting could have had more options, especially if you're going to call it a "tasting" rather than a sample. But overall, it's a fun experience and we met tons of great people (and a great penguin too!)

1/3/2026: We visited the Shivers Ice Sculpture exhibit. Staff were all friendly, grounds were clean, parking was fairly easy to find, and the area is marked pretty well to show you where to go. I was impressed with the ice sculptures. The amount of work was pretty amazing. It was just freaking cold! 9 degrees, no lie! They give you a parka to wear, but you need to bring your own gloves, scarf, and cap. That is the only thing that saved me. I think we spent MAYBE 25 minutes in there. So, doing the math, a $30 ticket basically breaks down to $1.25 per minute. That's kind of expensive, in my book, but I see how much work these sculptures took, so it's easy to see why they charge the amount they do. It is a little dark inside and the cooling system is a little noisy.

Ridiculously pricey. $260, as I recall, for 2 adults (one a senior), and 3 children under 10 for the aquarium and rain forest. The venue was great, however, and we all had a fun time. Excellent exhibits at the aquarium. Very well done. Rain forest was worthwhile too, but nothing special in my opinion.

While in Galveston, we went to Moody Gardens pyramids to see the Aquarium and the Rain Forest. My grandchildren loved both places. The inside of both pyramids have thoughtful designs and are structured really well. In the aquarium, the educational pieces (e.g. fake sponges where children are encouraged to touch and learn more about them) engaged my granddaughter throughout the experience. But the shinning moment for her was seeing the seals. And don't think I didn't leave there without having to buy her a stuffed seal, because yes that happened too. I personally appreciated the Rain Forest, especially some of the meaningful messages displayed as you enter the Rain Forest. They're honest and profound.

Came here for the first time since I was a kid. This is the kind of place you can appreciate even more as an adult. I'm sure kids love it too, but as a lover of fish, animals, and plants- this place is out of this world. We came right when they opened, which I would recommend so you can really see everything and move through without getting held up. It took us about 25 min with not a lot of people to get through the aquarium and another 20 to get through the rainforest. We really enjoyed our time and got to see things that really impressed us. All the staff were really friendly and knowledgeable as well. Would definitely come back again, it's worth it!!

This was my first time coming to Moody Gardens since I moved here 3 years ago and I loved it! My partner and I came to the IceLand and it was incredible! 18 million pounds of ice; can you believe that? They provide huge coats for you so it's not impossible to be comfortable as you walk around in -9 degrees. All of the sculptures were super neat and so well constructed. They have an ice bar inside that we didn't particularly love; the drinks are not very good and the service was extremely slow. I ended up switching out my drink for a shot of baileys; grateful they let me do that! Such a great time. Will for sure come back next year!

Great experience with many things to see and do but lots of walking. Glad to see that the disabled are given a chance to work and prove themselves here. Bought 2 day passes. Saw a couple of the 3D shows, the rainforest, the aquarium, and the museum. The water park was closed. Very nice but pricey especially for older adults. Lots of parking. Many families with kids. Beautiful displays. Great staff. Most restaurants and shops were closed indoors and this is why only 4 stars after paying so much. Worth maybe one visit and maybe during the holiday season just to experience the lights and sounds.

Bought the tickets to get access to the rainforest and aquarium pyramids for $56. As my friend and I were purchasing the tickets, we saw the 4d movie nearby, and we were interested in checking it out until we saw the price and heard how long the running time was. They charge $14 for a 12 minute show. Not worth it in my opinion! We started off in the rainforest pyramid, and it was such a surreal experience. It was cool to see everything from up top and then to end at the bottom. I was just admiring all the animal and plant life- throughout the exhibit, they have information boards about the specific species, which was super neat. Even got to see INSECTSSSS which were gross but intriguing. The aquarium pyramid was beautiful! It was nice and cool (temperature wise) compared to the rainforest pyramid. Viewing the jellyfish in the dark was awesome! They looked so pretty in the different colors of light. Spent a lot of time viewing the penguins and the seals + sea lions. It's entertaining to see them dive and swim around in the waters. The aquarium felt more packed than the rainforest, so once we got to the stingray station, it was packed with barely any space to move. I was still able to touch a stingray though! One of my favorite parts of the whole exhibit was the tunnel aquarium at the end. Although it was busy, there were still more than enough parking spots. Parking is free! Overall, the experience was totally worth it.

Is any of the pyramids pet friendly?

Let's can be on the grounds when properly leashed (pick up the poo!) but are not permitted in the buildings or pyramids.

Can you do Moody Goardens in one day?

Yes! It is very doable. The only time you couldn't do it in one day is if you decide to do the water parks which is only during warm season (summer etc).

If you do just one part of Moody Gardens which would you recommend?

Either the rainforest or the aquarium are good. I would choose which to do based on what your family enjoys more. The rainforest is more of a close up experience with many different animals. The aquarium is pretty typical of all aquariums but if you… Read more

The Ocean Star is a good example of an offshore jack-up (not to be confused with jacked-up) oil drilling rig. It operated in the Gulf between 1969 and 1984. Let's just say that offshore drilling has come a long way since that time. It became a museum in 1997 after it was retired. It's now on display for all to see. It also appears to be a wildlife zone. There are many different kinds of seabirds that live or sunbathe there. I'm sure the fish love it, too. I'd say the only con is that the outdoor platform smells and looks like an unkept birdcage. I'm sure that they wash it down every now and then, but there's really no way to keep the flock of birds away from it without ruining the outdoor experience. Not even the fake owls. Just be prepared, and watch where you walk. The good news is that there are public restrooms on the rig where you can wash your hands after touching the platform rails. Other than that, it was a cool learning experience. A great place for kids to learn about underwater landscapes and engineering. It educates all ages on how life really is on an oil drilling rig. It's a lot bigger than I thought. There are 3 levels of displays as well as a couple of outdoor platforms. You'll also learn about the dangers and safety procedures of running an offshore rig. It's all very interesting. It was worth the admission fee. Military & Seniors get a $3 discount. It's located off of Pier 20 past Katie's Seafood House, and within walking distance of the Strand Historic District. It took about an hour to go through the museum. It may take a little longer with the audio guide. It was cool to see the pelicans and seagulls sunbathing under the rig. You might even spot a few dolphins here and there. It was a fun morning!

Friendly staff at the ticket office. My daughter loved the scavenger hunt for facts and got a prize at the end. Tons of knowledge about the history of the submarine and ship. Upon arrival, we had to pay-to-park, which I thought was weird, especially since you've got to pay an entrance fee, as well! On the flip side, it wasn't very busy that day, so wasn't difficult to find parking! It was very interesting to explore the WWII USS Cavalla Submarine & the Destroyer escort USS Stewart. With few visitors on site while we were, we made it through both vessels quickly, even taking numerous photos! A couple of notable issues include the fact that the museum was undergoing renovation and the only restrooms were 'FRU-FRY' port-o-lets at the absolute end of the tour, adjacent to the gift store. The gift store was a small one-room (10x10) air-conditioned building, (picture a portable storage unit) that had very few mediocre Knick-knacks to choose from (stickers, toys, post cards (who collects post cards anymore???) The choices in the gift store insinuate that children would enjoy the museum. The current generation of individuals is most definitely NOT interested in military armamentarium.
