I have been a fan of this place for years. My kids use to stop there on their way to school. But in the last few years they have gone down hill. The donuts taste like old grease. The quality isn't good. I got maple bars and the icing melted off. The prices are crazy expensive. $33.00 for 9 donuts! Also they want cash. No card you'll pay .50 cents more. The employees are rude. When choosing in a crowded category like donuts count on Yelp. It's not just the quantity of reviews, but the quality of the reviewers. I love a good Boston Creme donut (whipped cream over custard ftw!). This one was good, but not great. The devil's food cake with chopped peanuts is what impressed me! It had almost a crisp texture and not overly sweet taste to it. What really impressed me is I ate it a few hours after I got it, so I didn't taste it fresh. I admit I asked the worker there what to get and she raves about the maple bacon. I did get it, but I let my boy Wayne eat it. Next time I'll have to taste it myself. Another pleasant surprise is hearing 6 donuts are $7.50 and that includes 2 fancy donuts. These days speciality donuts range from $3 - $5 so when I heard the total I thought it was a steal. They do charge .50 cents for a credit card charge, but I consider that a tip since who carries cash anymore. It's probably good that I don't live close and since I mostly do keto this is a treat every once in a while. I'll definitely be back for that devil's food cake and to try the maple bacon one too! Favorite donut place when I'm visiting my parents. I ate here all the time growing up. It's like a block away so that definitely helped in my choice of where to go. However it was the taste and service that really kept me going back. The owners/ workers are always extremely friendly and generous. Have gotten bonus donut holes or a free milk here and there throughout the years. The donuts themselves are fresh and made in the store! Obviously fresher in the morning so you that's really when you should check this place out. They have lots of variety but sell quickly! If you go after the morning rush they might be out of a lot so be warned. The flavor and consistency of the donuts are on point. If you're having a donut craving, this place will nail it for you. Also if you are a Delivery Driver, don't bother accepting the order because they NEVER have it ready either and you have to wait a long time for your order. VERY RUDE UNGRATEFUL women working there at Moon Donuts! NOT the kind the energy you want when it comes the people making & serving your food. I own a dessert food business & this is NOT THE WAY! If they don't seem to care about the customers then they probably DON'T care about the food safety or sanitation of the food they're preparing for them as well. One of the times I went I purchased an apple fritter & it tasted like it was cooked in old fry oil & overcooked which causes donuts to have an unusually bad burnt taste to it. I immediately went back inside to inform them & the lady tried to argue with me telling me that's how it's made & how it's supposed to taste. I know what over fried dough taste like but I was being too nice & should've told her loud enough so everyone could hear that I could tell that it was cooked in old fry oil....that whole experience was rude and very dismissive on her part.... Also, no one there acknowledges or greets you when you walk in & they seem annoyed that you're even there or when you ask for things like utensils & napkins even after spending at least $50 on doughnuts. This has happened on multiple occasions in which I've tried giving them chances to redeem themselves. My colleagues have mentioned having similar experiences. Moon Donuts is one of the MANY local south bay donut shops that my wife and I have checked out over the last 2 years, and they are by FAR the favorite. Not only is the staff extremely nice and always greeting you with a smile, the donuts are always fresh, they're made BIG, and they taste amazing. They cycle a few seasonal ones in and out, which offers nice variety, but their donut holes, apple fritters, and cake sprinkle donuts are seriously amazing. Ok I've been on a huge donut kick lately and Moon Donuts is satisfying that craving! Open super early at 4 am, it's truly the classic place to grab coffee and donuts to go. But there is a small space for seating inside. I picture this the perfect setting for having morning coffee and reading newspapers (but ONLY the paper kind, not on your phone). Anytime we get donuts, the fiance always gets old fashioned donuts and maple bars while I always opt for cake donuts. This time was no exception but the irony was that we both loved our choices but loved each others' even more. The cake donut consistency in the old fashioned as well as my chocolate donut was perfection. Not too heavy and a perfect balance of cakey donut goodness. The maple bar was fragrant and oh so satisfying for your sweet tooth. The hero of our entire experience though has to be the croissant breakfast sandwich. Oh my I would love it if my body would allow me to have this as part of my morning routine. Alas, calories do count, but when I'm not counting, I'm getting this sandwich again. With some new places trying to over charge for weird flavored donuts that are bland and have been sitting all day it's nice to have a place to go that treat donuts like the real treat they are. They have a small bar area you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and some donuts or a croissant or muffin with an old friend, a new friend or the family. They open early so you can run by on your way to work and bring it in for everyone enjoy. They are delicious and very adorable. They aren't the closest donut shop to me but I would rather drive to them than grab donuts rather than from a major brand. The quality you get and at the price point is too good to pass up. Packaging and presentation counts for a lot. If they jam your donuts into one box beware that the topping will get destroyed. They should do better! They aren't even in the same CLASS as your traditional 89 cent grocery store donut. Also, they have a huge and festive donut selection along with many other bagel, sandwich, etc. options. I just happened to find this place a few weeks ago when my little one wanted donuts and this was the closest place. What a nice surprise! The donuts are beautiful and delicious! We have tried Nutella cronut, lemon filled, cheesecake, regular chocolate, s'mores, and different ones with the cute designs. And yeah, it's because after that first time, we came back a few times more! They are not expensive unless you get the fancy ones, 2 donuts will be almost $10. This is the kind of doughnut place that you dream of existing. You walk in and there is a large selection of beautiful doughnuts, the case filled with them and there are endless possibilities of the ones to choose from. Since I was just getting them for myself, I only got 6 and it was a really hard decision for which to pick. I settled on a twist, glazed, jelly, crumb, blueberry and sour cream glazed. I need to point out first that the twist was one of the fluffiest and best doughnuts I've ever had. It was so light and fluffy and not too sweet, I could've easily had 3 of these. The blueberry was my second favorite it was just perfect and all that I'd hope for. The other doughnuts were very good, I feel like you can't go wrong here. My only criticism is that my jelly doughnut could've used a little more jelly. That's a small criticism when the doughnut itself was so perfect. Part of the fun coming here is the selection and I just feel like you can't go wrong. The guy working there was so nice and excited that I was so excited about the doughnuts. I polished off all 6 doughnuts myself, shamelessly while my dog watched hoping for a crumb. Sadly for him, there were no crumbs, but he did get to lick my fingers. Driving to my afternoon meeting, I just thought it would be nice if I bring them a few dozens of donuts to my meeting. Pulled over and looked up on Yelp to find this place. I walked in and confirmed a dozen is only $9, great price, I didn't know which one was good, I asked the staff (perhaps an owner) to just pick her favorite. She quickly picked her favorites and boxed them up for me. I looked pretty serious while she was working on boxing up (I was reading my work e-mail on my phone), after I paid by credit card, she said, "I will give you smile", and gave me one of her favorite donuts for free. I don't really eat donuts but just her nice gesture brought me a big smile. I didn't get to taste the donuts but everyone at a company I visited in the afternoon said they were good. What a great donut shop! It is right along the side of the road so you can just pull up along the side walk (30 minute parking only), walk in, buy, and leave without the hassle of backing out of a regular parking stall (which they also have).
