Muesum staff was flippant and extremely rude when we attempted to enter with our disabled pug being carried in a backpack. It was over 100 degrees outside, no way we could leave her in the car. Visited on a sunny afternoon, and learned a lot about the history of the town of Visalia and Tulare County from the museum. No food, no drinks, no problem just leave them at the counter before you enter. The buildings were nice and air conditioned, so we stayed for awhile comfortably. The park was clean, and the geese were pretty aggressive, so if you bring your own picnic food, make sure you don't look away for too long! read more

On Saturday May 9th my wife and I went to Mooney Grove Park for a picnic lunch. After eating we went for a walk. When I looked into the pond / toilet bowl that I remember rowing boats in what a disappointment. The water was dirty and seems uncirculated. If my swimming pool looked like this I would have mosquito abatement at my door. I realize it is a habitat for fish and fowl but I've seen it look better. I'm an avid park goer and love the peaceful environment at the park. Just a little disappointed in the pond. read more

I've been to this park on several occasions and I can't believe I never noticed or even heard of the museum here?! Maybe I was to much in a rush here?? Nooo, that's not it, I have no clue why. 6 bucks Friday through Sunday and the museum is free!! I probably came on the wrong days...that has to be it. Anyways, it was sooooo cool!! So awesome to learn and discover the history of Tulare county and the surrounding areas!!! I want to go again, because I know I missed some information since I had my 4 year old with me, and he wasn't to interested at all. It's good for adults!! read more

I love this park! But the last time I was there my grand-baby was running on the grass area by the playground when an old man in a car drove pass the road and without slowing down he kept driving towards us driving on grass, Me not knowing who he was I got so scared thinking he was going to run over my granddaughter I panicked! Ran to her and when I picked her up I confronted the man as he stopped. All he said "park is closing get out!" I told him off!! And he waited in his car until I loaded the child and once I was done he escorted me out! This was 5minutes before closing time! The man is old! Too damm old for this behavior! Accidents happen and he should know better! I don't know why or who he is and I don't understand why the city allows this old man to do this to people because I've gone there twice and both times he's done the same one of these days he's gonna mix up that pedal and he's gonna really hurt somebody Eventually he is gonna rot in jail! But no he won't he's still around doing this for a reason! He must be a $$donor or something in which the city of Visalia is taking advantage of,, to put up with this! This was the second time we attended a family reunion at this park. Two years ago it was nice and green. This year not so much. I know California is in a drought so maybe that is why but you have to pay $6 to get in and they don't even take the leaves. The men's bathroom didn't even have water in the sinks. The women's bathroom did. At the small pond there was so much goose poop it was ridiculous. My husband said he went into the museum that was fill with farm memorabilia and it was air conditioned. Which was a nice break from the heat of the day. I was just really disappointed this year on how run down the park looked from two years ago and how they still charge you $6 to get in. Where is the money going to?? Come on get it together. This is a really nice park keep it up. read more

I visited Mooney Park on sunday Oct 29th 2017 and i went into the museum with the schoolhouse and trailer barn, called country historical museum there were a couple noticeable cobwebs that i walked into as it looked like the facility has not been well kept. Once i finished my walk through the museum i noticed on my left leg several spider bites started appearing, i am still recovering to this day. I am writing this complaint as I hope no one experiences the pain i had to bear with the spider bites, thank god the spider was not poisonous. This bite has actually became infected and i am on antibiotics now. read more

I love the great outdoors, but when I can't go to far, I love to hang out at our local parks. Mooney Grove Park is one of my favorite parks to take the family when we just want to get out of the house. We love the walking paths, the trees, the water. What we don't like is all of the geese poop. In fact, there is geese poop everywhere. It seems to me like the park is well taken care, with the exception to all the geese poop. It would be nice and more inviting if the powers that be would take a priority in cleaning up the mess and keeping it under control. Perhaps pressure washing all the concrete on a regular basis would be more inviting for visitors. Besides the extraordinary amount of geese fecal matter, the park is a very pleasant place. I would give the park 5 stars if it wasn't for the mess. read more

How is this not reviewed?! MG park is a huge, beautiful park between Visalia and Tulare, founded in the early 1900s by Hugh Mooney to preserve the stately oak trees and make sure future generations could appreciate them. There are playgrounds, disc golf, rowboats, peacocks (and peahens), picnic shelters that may be reserved, grills, approximately a jillion picnic tables, the Tulare County Ag Museum, and The End of the Trail statue. The nitty gritty: it's $6/car to enter, cash only. Closed Tues and Wed, except during the summer. Open hours vary by season, the summer (after school's out) being much more accessible than the rest of the year. I truly love this park, its huge and beautiful, even on weekends when it is quite busy there is enough room that you're not on top of other people. Most of my family and a lot of friends left Tulare County many years ago, including me (I made it back, after 20 yrs) and MG park is someplace we all reminisce about. :) read more

I am reviewing this park primarily for its disc golf facilities. There are two full-length courses at this site. The front-side Perry Championship course is a fairly typical through-the-lightly-wooded-park affair with a couple of more interesting holes. The length of the holes on this course are pretty classic, with all par 3's. The sprawling Perry Outback course, on the other hand, traverses the eastern, southern and western portions of the park with some very long holes that will challenge the best. The backside course also has a couple of sizable hills that act as both target areas and tee-off points. This area also features a low-lying area that can function as a lake when there's not a horrible drought preventing it from being filled. The disc golf areas are maintained reasonably well. The front course is a bit prone to interference from non-golfers, especially on weekends, so be prepared to skip a hole or two on occasion. The Outback course sees less non-golfer traffic, but it does happen there too. read more

entrance fee-$6/vehicle park-forget about it if you plan to have a picnic, grass are dried, ponds are filthy! trash floating, i know its the visitors fault for not picking up after themselves, leaving trash behind so it probably flown by wind, but still the staff should take notice of this and shouldve taken care of this, too bad bec it would have been perfect for bbq parties bec they have huge grills. their were covered picnic tables too. the only thing we liked about this park is the museum. lots to learn about the history of tulare, nice displays too. old houses & old schools transported into the park grounds. so forget about the park just go straight to the museum and you would be disappointed. its worth your $s read more

Beautiful park with historical artifacts within. Lot's of neat things to see including antique agricultural equipment, buildings, Tulare County history, geese, water, picnic areas...The people who work there are rude and completely clueless about any of the history they are the care takers of. So look up what you can on the internet if you are actually interested in knowing about the park and its history. Unfortunately, the buildings and the artifacts within are not being well maintained. There are cobwebs and thick dust everywhere inside the mocked up displays of the buildings. read more

A fairly nice park to spend some time. They have a frisbee golf course, a pond, geese, and lots of shade.

We are from out of town visiting Visalia. The park is clean and not crowded at all. A lot of ducks around.

Mooney Grove Park is huge and beautiful and we loved it but we can only drive around because it's closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Disappointing indeed, but everybody needs a day off I guess. As we drove around there were peacocks crows ducks geese and more little birds all around the park. It seems well-manicured and has all the attributes of a beautiful Park I can hardly wait to come back on the right day of the week to use the park that looks so beautiful read more

Large park, but filled with doggie poo, everywhere! And although there are lots of covered picnic tables, those must be reserved in order to ensure you'll get one. The park fills fast. I can't figure out the reason people flock to this park. The women's bathroom didn't have soap or toilet paper. I saw one swing set in the area we were, and it had only one swing hanging from it. I was hoping for an infant swing so I could swing my 1 yr old grandchild. They charge $6/vehicle, and one would think they would use the money collected for keeping the park up. Guess "this one person" is wrong. Not impressed! Would not choose this park considering all the others that are available. read more

Mooney's Grove is a Tulare County Treasure! There is so much history there. So many stories to be carried on throughout generations. Many many things to do at the park, its a peaceful, calming, relaxing and fun place to go and BBQ, throw Frisbee, play ball, jog, or just sit and read a book. It used to be free to enter, as Mr Mooney stated when he left the grounds to the County. Now it is 6.00 per carload. read more

Shame shame on the Tulare Board of Supervisors for allowing this family park to deteriorate to the unsafe ,unhealthy, unmaintained place it is today. For decades it has attracted families with children but now it is in terrible condition, broken equipment, filthy water and contaminated grounds. The 20 year improvement plan for the park is about 20 years late! read more
