Went to see a friend's jazz trio here. Very nice space. Parmesan Chicken Pesto Panini was excellent. Chai tea latte was good. I wish they served it in ceramic to add to the 'neighborhood coffee shop' vibe. They got a "B" on health which is a little concerning. Otherwise great. I'm excited to go back. read more

I was in the area and looking for a place to grab a quick lunch when this place popped up on my phone. It was a cute, relaxed vibe inside. I had the Moonrise special and a London Fog. Both were very good and perfect for lunch. The staff was friendly and the service was prompt. I'll definitely be back to try more of their specialty drinks. read more

The Tea I had was awesome. The staff was friendly and helpful. The girls behind the counter answered my questions politely and with enthusiasm even though I know I was being annoying. My wife and I enjoyed a hot drink over a quiet conversation here and plan on doing it again. read more

I'm always on the hunt for new coffee shops to try. I saw that Moonrise had good reviews, so a friend and I decided to meet here. When I walked in, the staff was very welcoming and accommodating. I ordered an iced cappuccino and it was some strong espresso! I don't know what kind they use, but it was delicious! My friend ordered a turtle latte and she enjoyed it as well. The shop is really relaxing and quiet and it's a great place to hang out for a bit. I have to mention- my friend and I were sitting in the back by the window, talking-at a regular volume. A few girls that came in AFTER us kept giving us the evil eye because we were having a conversation. I guess they were trying to study, but last I checked- a cafe is meant for socializing OR studying. Other customers shouldn't be made to feel like they don't belong there. So- if you're going there to study, please be aware that other people enjoy cafes for other reasons than just studying, like talking to catch up with a friend over coffee. There's nothing wrong with that. I realize this is at no fault of the owners. It's just incredibly rude. All that said, I will be back to try more coffee and some frozen yogurt! read more

My son was in a Crossfit competition at North Haven Crossfit and we love cool, hip coffee shops with great coffee.. way happy to find Moonrise Cafe! Organic coffee and tea was a BIG bonus! Coffee was great, avocado egg sandwich on soft tasty bagel was delicious, friend had chipotle panini and loved it! Real nice and friendly staff and owner, all kinds of cool seating , great wifi and even a huge frozen yogurt bar with tons of toppings! Wish this was close to home, I would be a regular! I have been wanting to try this place for over a year since I started working in the area. I should have come WAAAAAY sooner. The Sumatra coffee is delicious and the Spicy Green Omelet sandwich on fresh sourdough bread way amazing. The place is cute as hell too. Definitely going back to try lunch soon! read more

Wow. This coffee is delicious. Only downside is the price - $10 for an ultimate iced coffee and decaf iced coffee (both medium, not sure if it was a mistake). But wow, delicious strong coffee. Had dinner in West Haven with friends and wanted to find a new place for coffee. Searched Yelp and came across this place. From the minute we walked in the door we new it was going to be a great experience. Mita and Muhamed introduced themselves when we walked in. I'm a big tea drinker and they had a great variety to choose from. Muhamed took the time to describe a few that he thought would interest me as a black tea drinker. He was spot on. My friend had a Moon Rise Chai Latte and the other had their bold coffee. Both delicious. We sat and chatted in the cool seating area in the window. Felt like we were in our living room. After an hour or so we had dessert. Yup, frozen yogurt or sorbet or gelato- self serve with about 40 or so toppings. All toppings were covered well and had their own serving spoons. All areas were well kept and clean. I understand that they have been opened for about 21/2 years. I live in Branford but would drive to hang here. Before we realized it we were there for 3 hours!!!! Prices were reasonable and quality was high. It was very quiet and minimal activity from 7:00pm - 10:00pm. Come on folks! Get out to this place and support it! Trust me you'll love it! Bring a book, free wifi, hang with friends. Just go! This is the type of place you want more of. I understand that they do have a activities from time to time too. Check out their facebook page too. Best coffee around. Breakfast sandwiches never disappoint and staff are all attentive and friendly. A go to for a quick morning bite.

Clean. Inoffensive. Connecticut. At least it's not Dunkin' Donuts on the side of the highway. No, but really, it tries very hard. This is probably the best cappuccino to be had in any of the directional Havens. Didn't get the chance to try their frozen yogurt but according to the other reviews it's the bomb. If it's the bomb though, this bomb is going off in outer space because it feels like you're walking into a café of the future circa 1990. Having said all of that, everybody loves a trier and believe me Moonrise Café in Connecticut tries. Their cappuccino was a welcome treat in a sea of Dunkin donuts along the Merritt. read more

Only one dairy-free and gluten-free selection in the froyo/sorbet section, other froyo places usually have at least two, but the one sorbet they had was very good. The biggest issue with this place was that it was so incredibly dark inside. The walls are dark blue and the place is so dimly lit that your eyes strain to see things. read more

Love this place!!!! Froyo for the kids, coffee drinks for the adults! Staff is friendly and prompt, the place is clean and they also have a wide selection of sandwiches / food. Also a good amount of specialty products available to purchase. Not a ton of seating, but definitely enough and the customers are friendly, too, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone would offer to move if someone came in and needed a large table than one that was available. I do not visit chain coffee shops like Starbucks and the like...Their product is poor quality and overpriced. We had stopped here for a quick coffee & breakfast bite. Very nice seating & cool decor in this frozen yogurt/specialty coffee/tea & sandwich eatery. Had (2) counter helpers, one was friendly & appreciative, the other meh, not so much as a smile. They were a bit pricey (around $20) for microwaved sandwiches with sausage, egg & cheese & a couple pieces of crumb cake,& two iced coffees, BUT their iced coffee was KILLER! Their frozen yogurt was the norm - they did have a plethora of toppings which was cool. About six-eight flavors of yogurt available daily I think. My love thoroughly enjoyed (and is still talking about) the awesome crumb cake he had! We would stop in when back in this area again...a two star choice, but just for the crumb cake & iced coffee we give it a bumped-up three stars ;) read more

Went with a friend in since it was the only place that offered some good looking Frozen Yogurt. Both the interior and the exterior were in modern style cafe, with a ton of toppings for the Fro-Yo. It also had excellent coffee and iced tea. The seating was comfortable, stylish and modern without being too contemporary and it was enjoyable to be able to watch AFV on the TV. It also provided a few games to play with each other to pass the time. Overall, we loved it and it was a great experience and we hope to be back when passing through! read more
