I was, however, prevented from doing any sort of digging whatsoever as the shop was still closed and left under the care of the hippies from a nearby store. Apparently the woman who owned the shop was running a bit late today and would not be in til 14.00. The shop normally opens at 12 as well. However the store had an impressive display of cameras, old toys, art and a bright turquiose typewriter I was bit taken with - if only I could get to it.

Collage is by far one of my favourite shops in Gostins. They are an antiques and collectables shop and as the name suggests, they offer a fair variety of items all arranged artfully and happily on shelves, glass display cabinets, and baskets and boxes. Here you will find antique buttons, china, toys, books, collectables, decorations, jewellery, tableware and other kitchen items, and so much more. My favorite items were the old buttons (I need to go back for some!) and the little collectable animals from Rose Red tea boxes--I used to collect those back home in America when I was a kid. I bought a fox one four £4. I'm very pleased with my little critter. :) The shop also sells a small number of crafty items like packs of new buttons and charms. Everything is reasonably priced and the lady is very friendly and chatty. :) I highly recommend this shop!

They have a large selection of display pieces that can easily be £500, however there is also a great deal of Scandinavian glassware that is affordable and great for wedding presents and special birthdays. Infact you can even find interesting gifts for as little as £12. The staff are really friendly and helpful too. Worth popping in!

The Christmas Decorators are experts in their field of the design of christmas decorations and lights - as the name suggests. Their service stretches from the house looking like Blackpool Illuminations in October to catering for winter weddings. Alongside installing the decorations, they also create their own designs. The company have provided for many famous faces as the owner's career started in Hollywood, and has now expanded to some of the North West's most prestigious venues. There is a huge warehouse in Wavertree open for you to take a look at between October and February and I strongly recommend a visit. It's beautiful.

This is just down the road from a friends, and I can't thank her enough for introducing me to it! It's an absolute maze of wonder, floors and floors of rooms, filled with cabinets, pieces for auction, and an adorable cafe too. You can find all manner of trinkets, niknaks, some clothes, furniture, homewares, bits for your garden- basically, if you wanted, you could kit your whole life out here. Obviously, being so varied, not everything is to everyone's taste, but it is most certainly worth a look around, or just a cream tea!!

Someone must be a fairy fan. There is quite a variety of media as well, from paintings to drawings to collage art. Based on Wilderspool Causeway with its own parking, its worth stopping off if you're looking for something that's going to last. They tend to stock different wood furniture from oak to pine, and some others, as well as different styles and pieces from bedroom to living room, to dining room. We've had lots from there and the quality is excellent, worth the price as pieces last for years. They also do some giftware and artwork so you can always pick up something nice and unusual to decorate the house with. The staff are nice and friendly and know the products so can help with any questions or enquiries you might have.

It's located where John Lewis used to be, right underneath the Radio City tower, impossible to miss. They used to concentrate on selling DIY and hardware, however now they sell everything under one roof, from linen curtains to carpets to the traditional DIY. The store has been recently refurbished, and now has a cafe instore which even sells the traditional scouse! Everything is a reasonable price, considering it is an independent store and in my opinion is on track to compete with the big names in the business.

Rapid DIY is a brilliant all round department store serving several floors that once used to be the…read morehome of John Lewis. It has now expanded greatly and made the most of the former (and well recognised) George Henry Lee building. Rapid is now right in the heart of the city centre with many entrances you can't fail to walk past. The massive improvement is that the building is now fully refurbished to give customers an even better, brighter shopping experience all under one roof! It is still going to expand further in the not so distant future which is also great news. Additionally, there is a fantastic Signature Cafe in store serving hot and cold wholesome Liverpool favourites, including scouse (one of my favourites)! As a whole, Rapid is great value for money and has a huge range of quality goods. You won't be disappointed.
