Moosehead grill was a fabulous place to go for a night out with friends, but definitely not on a football day (unless you want to be in a packed house). We stopped in Sunday night for some beer and wings and even though there was only one football game on (FSU vs. Notre Dame) the place was popping. We snagged a table and ordered a few buckets ($13 for 6 domestics which is a great deal) and 50 wings. The 50 wings were $63 and if we each had ordered 10, then it would have been $60. So definitely get the 50 if you have 4 people. The best flavor in my opinion would had to have been either the blackened or the chipotle barbecue. The other wings we ordered were bee sting (one of their signatures), Jamaican, and a classic mild Buffalo. We also ordered a basket of fries that came with about a mound of ketchup haha. Moosehead never disappoints. I started going in 1997. I left Charlotte in 2004 for 11 years but whenever I was back for a visit I always stopped to eat. Now I'm there at least once a month. They definitely have one of the best lunches in Charlotte. Not only is the food amazing but their prices are the most affordable around. I have been coming to this spot at least monthly (sometimes weekly) since finding out about it. It's a hidden gem unless you know about it. The decor is fantastic- even down to the random designs on the small plates they bring. The service is always on point and makes sure you are taken care of as well. It's hard not to want to visit once a week- but if I'm trying to eat healthier they have some great options for salads as well. Moosehead was where I got my first drink in Charlotte while on a recruiting trip back in 1996, and I've been a regular ever since. If I could decorate my house like this place I probably would which likely explains why I'm still single. Love the food, love the regulars, love the VIP section upstairs, love the staff; everything you want in a neighborhood bar. That being said, my favorite part of going to Moosehead is seeing the bartender Stacy. She is fantastic! Think blonde Jennifer Garner meets Gaston County; sweet and kind perfectly balanced with a healthy dose of sass and attitude. She is absolutely the best. The service was quick and attentive. We had a group of six people and we sat on the patio on a warm August Sunday afternoon. Any request was met with a speedy solution (little stuff like honey mustard dressing or another drink). The food was very good and we enjoyed ourselves. This place has amazing food, and great service. I love the outdoor seating. They also don't disappoint for to go orders. The kitchen is open until 11:30pm each night. So it is great for late night food. Their clam chowder is the best, and the sweet potato tots are the best tots! read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat for lunch. Me and my husband use to got at least once a week before I got a new job. They were always nice and friendly. They always had a lunch special board that made it easy to pick from. The waitstaff knew I was on my break so they made sure to get me in and out really quick. The outdoor patio and rooftop looked really nice, but it was way too cold for that. My husband and I split 30 wings and got six flavors: Uncle Donnie's Famous Blackened, Killer B's, Hemo-goblin, Meeso Ginger, PB&J, and Wasabi Honey Mustard. My favorites were the Uncle Donnie's Famous Blackened, Hemo-goblin, and Wasabi Honey Mustard. The Blackened was probably the top. It was a little spicy with a lot of flavor. The Wasabi Honey Mustard was very unique and tasty. I was disappointed by the PB&J--they were kind of lacking flavor. The Killer B's were good but just tasted like hot buffalo, the other flavors that were supposed to be there weren't. I tried one of my friends Bee Stings and I thought they were much better. If I lived in Charlotte, this is where I'd go for wings if I didn't have time to make them myself. For me Wingstop is about a 3/5 and these were a 5/5. Great quality chicken and moist and juicy inside. Not breaded. Flats could have been crispier but the drums were perfectly crispy. Ranch dressing was average. I started with 5 of the bee sting and it was a good balance of flavor but next time I would try the killer bee one for more heat. My second round was with the buffalo wings, "hot" instead of mild but I would have liked more kick. Maybe they need 3 levels instead of 2 for these. On both orders there was the right amount of sauce and of course it was served with carrots and celery. Good selection of on tap beers, although the triple C 'hazy IPA' I ordered wasn't hazy at all. So we came on a Sunday afternoon during a panthers game, and even though it was busy, you wouldn't have known it. The servers were very attentive and made you feel like you were the only ones in the whole place! I will say, this place screams dive...but the food is anything but. It's the bar food you're looking for, or craving really. Moosehead is nestled at the end of Montford Drive (or the beginning depending on where you're coming from) in an old Pizza Hut. It's an awesome little spot with a tiny rooftop terrace, which I'm sure is amazing on a summer day! The parking in the lot is slim, but there's ample street parking on Montford Drive. The decor is kitschy, but the lights everywhere make it homey. The food....the wings. Amazing. The blackened are the way to go, but they also have an assortment of great flavors. Their potato skins are delicious as well, and I like how they're creative with the toppings as well (the Florentine, yum)! The only item I wasn't impressed with was the clam chowder, as mine was way too think, and didn't have the consistency of the other photos on this page. They serve food until 2am!!! Our sole purpose in stopping in was to grab food. The parking lot is very odd and tiny. You will be very surprised if you get parking. We parked on the street. Upon arriving we could hear the chatter and noise from inside outside. Inside most of the booths were empty while the bar was packed. We ordered wings and shooters. A lot of their wing flavors seem very spicy. So I chose the Meso Honey flavor. It was delicious. My friend had the original blackened wings. I wanted to try the Kiss My Castmast shooter but they were out of some of the ingredients. So I chose a Absolut Gummy Bear shooter made with peach vodka. It wasn't good. Idk if it was because I substituted for another vodka flavor but I will never order that again. All in all I'm glad to know that there is an option for late night eats in the Park Road area. Here's the thing-- this place has FANTASTIC wings. Especially the blackened wings. Definitely one of the best wings in Charlotte, even for being very expensive as far as wings go (they also need an option between 10 and 50 wings). This place has GREAT food, but the only downside is it is always packed to an uncomfortable degree. The bathroom lets out directly into where people wait for food but I get it, I do. You gotta work with what you've got. The major crowding aside- really great food. I suggest to-go if you have social anxiety or sensory disorders.
