My family and I had a beautiful visit to this park. It's small. It's on the island and there's a lot of historic buildings around and it was worth the side trip. Located in a beautiful area next to the water plenty of places to walk around and the tallest mountain in the San Juan Island Chain, is something to cherish. Plan a little bit of extra time for the walking. It's not hard and it's absolutely gorgeous there. I meant the Ranger both of them and they were absolutely great history. They know how to treat a you. Thank you people for showing us incredible hospitality, and immaculate Property. It was very clean very well. Every corner is a picture waiting to be taken. read more

Moran State Park - Peak view - Parks Near Me - Orcas, Washington

Yesterday went to Mt. Constitution, today the lake loop. Upon recommendation from my host. The hike did not disappoint. You need a discovery pass for this park. Fortunately I have one. My photos are from the hike I did which was called the lake loop. Approximately 4 miles around the lake. Not too hard at all. Metal bridges helped cross waterways. The lake is stunning with crystal blue water in some parts. Photos don't do justice. And the forest surrounding the lake: wowzee!! Huge tree carnage in some areas. I accidentally went backwards on this trail and started at the end. A single track right next to the lake. Up above a forest. Clearly there was tree carnage as I saw many huge trees fallen over. But the trail was really well kept and easy to navigate. One spot goes up and around a corner of the lake loop. Not hard at all. But the length is fairly decent. All in all I am super stoked I decided to take this hike/walk. Do it! You won't regret it. Live your life and enjoy yourself. And, SYOY! read more

No visit to Orcas Island is complete without seeing Moran State Park. From the top observation tower there are a dozen easy to intermediate hiking trails. There is also a campsite which we assume you got to make reservation in advance. read more

The last time we visited the area this building didn't exist and that was 2020. It showed that construction was happening at a slow speed. Hell, 2019 nothing existed. 2022 when we came back 2 years later exactly everything was up and running. New restrooms, state of the art building compared to the small love shack next door. The new place had a larger list of items available. Please add shirts for taller and larger pro. I would have spent money if available. Overall great experience. read more

When planning a trip to a park, it's important to have either realistic expectations or a very open mind. This park was exactly what my friend and I needed it to be; a great place to camp with the car right next to us, trails to hike during the day with Sound views, and a lovely fire by night. The campground is typical for a state park. There is at least one water spigot at each camp section (where campsites are very close together), and the bathrooms are the cleanest I've ever seen in the woods (by far). The prices are standard and the rangers are very friendly. Hike Mt Constitution if you get a chance! It may be the best view of Mt Baker you could ever find! read more

Only better views you'll get of the San Juan Islands are on a plane coming in. Mt. Constitution Tower is pretty cool. I guess parking can be tough heading up there, but on a Sunday summer morning on a semi cool and foggy day, it was certainly not too crowded. Tons of hiking trails of varying grades and distances. I love the variety of vegetation. Mountain Lake is pretty cool, especially considering its elevation. Didn't know what was up with the cold springs, perhaps dried up this time of year? Lots of cool little falls all within a mile hike of one another (Cascade, Rustic, Cavern, Hidden). My favourite was Cascade by far. Saw a family of woodpeckers, mother and baby deer, and even was able to help out a couple of hitchhikers heading down the mountain who were here on summer break from college. All this taken in before noon and it wasn't even a super early morning. $10 for a day pass into the park. What a great and beautiful adventure! read more

We spent two nights here in late July and had an awesome stay! The way the campsites are tiered allows for a sense of seclusion even with neighbors on all sides. Cell service is minimal at best in the campground and if reception is a must, you may need to drive into the nearby town. Bathrooms were clean and have coin-operated showers. Campground is within short walking distance of Cascade Lake, where boat rentals and a snack shop are nearby. We also enjoyed our hike to Mt. Constitution via the Cascade Lake Trailhead. Overall, five stars from us! read more

Beautiful park for camping and hiking. We stayed in the south campground. I think this is probably the best choice. We had lot 16 which was advertised as a partial water view. It wasn't partial it was right on the water. I highly recommend site 15, 16, 17. You have access to Cascade Lake with beautiful sunset views in the evening. It's also right next to the water tap and close to the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms and showers were amazingly clean. The showers cost .50 cents for 3 minutes which sucked. I can't wait to go back to this campground. Also, privacy is not great. read more

Camping: others have extolled the beauty of the area and the hikes, but dissed the camping facilities. We camped at Mountain Lake and were happy. Yes, it's an old park so the sites are close together. Yes, it's pit toilets and no showers or sinks, but overall the site was clean, the view wonderful and the neighbors considerate. We went in mid-April, taking advantage of the sun, and arrived on the ferry which left Anacortes at 7:30. When the ferry off loaded, there was a mad dash for campsites. In 20 minutes there was nothing left. Amazing. read more

Gorgeous setting, serene natural beauty abounds, like a walk back in time. Feels like a European lake resort around the marina. Fantastic!

We did the hike to Mt Constitution. Great hike, trail is well maintained (and well used!). The viewpoint was fabulous. The campgrounds look clean and shady, but need early reservations. There are swimmable lakes on the trail. Hope to camp here someday. read more
