Italian came up, and we headed to Di Palma's which is right around the corner from where we were. We lucked out on the window seat up front.. Initially, we both wanted pasta, but after reading the menu, we decided upon veal medallions with a pea and spinach purée (him) and pesto crusted lamb rack and tempura eggplant, goat cheese & shallots (me). Needless to say - we pretty much licked our plates clean. It was delicious! A few observations, they have a pretty large menu, with about 10 grill options, 10 pasta options, and a couple dozen wood fire pizza options. Their wine list is quite good too. (We opted for the Hollick Cab). It has an open kitchen, which wasn't too bad since we were in the front, but I'd imagine if you were closer to the kitchen it would be quite loud - and you'd probably leave smelling a bit like the grill (which may not be a bad thing). We didn't get dessert, but literally every table around us did, and they all seemed to be enjoying it. Our server was lovely, and I can't fault him at all. Suffice to say we will be back.

Menu is a great mix of brunch staples, a delicious variety of salads that keeps things interesting and some awesome looking sandwiches that are all reasonably priced and super fresh. They even cater for the kidlets with proper (non-processed) chicken nuggets. You can grab a lunch deal for $14 which changes regularly and includes a main and drink. Yesterday's chicken salad and freshly squeezed orange juice hit the spot perfectly. The coffee is bang on, as is the hot chocolate, and the staff are relaxed and friendly.I'm looking forward to working my way through the menu.

They have a range of meal deals to choose from and you can order a thinner crust if that takes your fancy. They have a website where you can view their menu or place your order for either pick-up or organise delivery. It is on Highett Road close to Nepean Highway and parking is available out front or on the side streets. And there are a range of shops to stroll down while your waiting. You can also eat in if you like, imagine your typical pizza shop and your not far off. We'll certainly be trying them again. Enjoy.

Excellent news for my office (me) who are terribly excited by the prospect of a 3 minute walk for soft shell crab soldiers. Day one and the staff look a little apprehensive, nervous but thankfully there looks to be a bit of experience on hand from the other stores. The fit out is rather lovely, with a nice big mural on the wall, giving you something pretty while waiting for the noms. The place doesn't look really setup yet for the dedicated solider line so I'll watch with interest how they handle that. Only time will tell.

Trippy Taco Southside is the offshoot location of Trippy Taco in Collingwood, which has enjoyed a…read morelong-standing reputation for delicious, inexpensive vegetarian Mexican food. This location (the St Kilda one) is a lot newer, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But they pretty much share the same menu and ingredients as the Collingwood location, and I wasn't disappointed. I had the tofu asada burrito (made vegan) and my boyfriend had the special quesadilla. We also shared chips and guacamole. Both of us enjoyed our meals. Most of the menu items can be made vegan (including their desserts!) The St Kilda location feels larger than the Collingwood one. The Collingwood one has more of a "cozy, cluttered and cheerful" vibe. But the ambience in St Kilda is still nice, with the same brightly colored Mexican decor. It just somehow feels more contrived and trendy than the decor at the Collingwood one. But eh, I guess that's how a lot of places are in St Kilda. The St Kilda location also has a much larger outdoor space than the Collingwood one, with quite a few tables (including a long one that seats 10+) out front. We sat outside because it was a beautiful day. They have these adorable cushions to sit on that look like giant limes. Like, seriously, I wanted to steal one, they were so cute. (I didn't.) We got there fairly early for dinner time (around 5:30) and the place was pretty quiet, with fast and efficient service, but by the time we left it was starting to fill up. This location is also a bit more boozy than the Collingwood one, which makes sense given the St Kilda crowd. They're fully licensed and had $14 margaritas and mojitos on the menu. Even if you're not coming to Trippy Taco to eat, it would be a nice place to have a few drinks in the sun. I should add that nothing about Trippy Taco is "authentic" Mexican food, but then again I'm from Texas and have lived in Oz long enough to know that nothing here is really authentic Mexican food. If you're from Mexico or the southern U.S., just come here knowing that flavors will not be authentic, and hopefully your expectations won't be set too high. For unauthentic vegetarian Mexican food, though, it's definitely tasty and worth a visit :)
