Great website to request holds on books and easy to check out and return books using their computerized system

All in all the library is good, but the difficulty of returning my books while in my car is not a plus. The new version of the website is difficult to navigate. The charges for a out of area person to use the library services close to their work is stupid, if they work in Santa Clara County I believe they should be able to check out items. read more

Library is full of undiscovered knowledge. My son and I are always able to find a table for hw time. We also are able to do activities that the library holds in the front part, for example, cupcake decorating, Lego making, reading with a dog. It's a great place, clean and friendly staff. Wish the hours in the morning were earlier for people who want to get in and get some work done. read more

We spend a lot of time at this library - LOVE it. It is safe, clean and orderly. The children's area rocks (so does storytime), my toddler loves visiting. There a nice park behind the building and pretty spots to sit outside in front as well. Morgan Hill is lucky to have this building! read more

Great place. Been going here since I was a little kid at its old location and now its new location. Has a great selection of books, customer service is good and helpful, and so many resources available to the community including internet access, study rooms, and just a great place to go and learn. I've always enjoyed every visit to the library as a child, a teenager, and now a young adult. Whether its research, work, or pleasure the library is always there with pretty decent hots and lots to offer this town. We are very lucky to have this and that our town continues to fund it. Worth a visit and worth getting a card! read more

I love our little library. My kids and I go to story time every week. The staff is always so kind to my kids and give them stickers each time we come. We borrow books and movies weekly and my kids always look forward to a trip to the library. read more

So....Libraries are for studying, learning, and reading books right? I guess, unfortunately, no one in the library knows this. They are so caught up in appearance, the EXTRA activities in the library than actually quiet reading aka the primary reason for building a library in the first place. They have 3 dinky chairs in the corners where the sun shines directly into your face. You can't move the tables or chairs around to move out of the sun because that messes with their decor. You have to wait for those silly, cumbersome shades to be let down. Frankly, they should have focused on what really mattered and that would have been the layout. They have a noise proof room where paid tutors work. Wonderful. But then in the center of the library are the computers followed by some study tables. Really? What logic was that? How about stuff all the computer tables near the librarians. See how they enjoy their hours and hours. Can they imagine what it must feel like to try to get concentrated study in while you have teenage girls giggling over Facebook on those public computers? Near the supposed study desks their are teens and even damn elementary kids making out and chasing each other. For crying out loud, none of the librarians really care to do anything. They only offer diplomatic, noncommittal answers. "Well we ca't change the layout. Sorry." Fine. Can you possible suggest it to someone? Why don't people use a library for its primary function anymore? Why isn't that emphasized or accommodated? The sound proof room in that library should be designated for quiet study like every other library in the region does. You can't have noisy outside and noisy inside as well. There are people who require serious study like those in college, taking the Bar, the Boards, GMAT, other graduate level exams, not to mention APs, SATs etc.....And no, knitting clubs, kiddie art sessions and all that is sweet but that is not why everyone wants a library. Sorry. Please fix the major flaws in layout. read more

I have worked, volunteered and participated in libraries for several years and I feel that I have a good understanding of what a good library experience should consist of. Since libraries are trying to become more current and modern in their approach, I have found that employing good service principles have been key to their success. I'm not sure if Morgan Hill library or the Santa Clara Public Libraries upholds these standards since their staff have been very stand-offish and not particularly interested in helping you. I went in because one of my books were not properly checked-in by the automated check-in system and the clerk that was helping me refused to do a shelf check. She just stood there and said she'll get to it later without getting information about the book or anything. When I asked her how long I should hang out for, she blatantly ignored me. I know that people have their days, but this really is her job and I find it shocking that she refused to do it. There was no line and prior to our interaction or during, she was just standing there at the desk with blank bored eyes. She even threatened that I would be responsible for the fines without helping me locate it or clarify if there was some error in the process. Anyways, I would've just dismissed that it was just one of those days, but my husband had come in to pick up a hold at one of their other libraries since they're all connected. He was told by the clerk that it was at another location, a 40 minute drive away. When my husband asked him to double check to make sure (since this particular library had their holds behind the desk), he dismissed him like he didn't really care and he ended up driving to the other location only for another clerk to tell him it was already at the library he was at. When my husband came all the way back to pick it up, there were no apologies, just another bored and annoyed clerk that couldn't care less. We just moved into this area from Portland, Oregon, so I'm not sure if the staff here is just jaded because they've been treated poorly by the community, to which I understand a little bitterness, but this is pretty bad. I hope things get better for them or I hope maybe Santa Clara Public Libraries would start hiring more positive and proactive library workers. read more

The new library, which had its grand opening on July 21, 2007, is fantastic! Definitely come check it out -- its twice as big as the old one with lots more space to sit, many more computers, great spaces for kids, a group study area, views of El Toro and the other surrounding hills, and amazing public art throughout the building and outside. read more

I used to love this library, until they started scamming me and charging me fines for stuff I already turned in. Their website is a complete mess and shows I still have items checked out that I've already turned in, then when I confronted the staff, they acted all vague and said their website was just being redone. Okay? I hate this library, it's done nothing but scam me. They seriously need to get their website and how they run things together. Please go to a different library, unless you want to be charged for rentals you've already turned in. read more

A small library in Morgan Hill. It's not as big and I wish there were more places to sit but it's clean and pretty quiet. Everything is so close together in there that it almost feels claustrophobic. I'm also not a local resident but decided to see if I can sign up for a library card. I was looked at weird by the librarian that I couldn't sign up. Um ok then, whatever. So to sign up for a library card apparently you must be a local resident or you have to pay a fee for outside residents. I learned that when I tried to sign up for a library card. I think it costs $80. The bathrooms are clean so that's a plus I guess. read more
