Juno was very excited to see new people and was not scared there. She apparently had been stung or bitten and it was a reaction. She had a an abscess in that spot from the bite or sting, which was drained and she was given meds to help her heal and relieve any pain. Other than the cone of shame and running into walls with it, she is feeling very good now.

The only thing I would hope for is that they would have more advanced imaging for some situations besides X-rays, and that dental could be done with twilight sedation instead of general anesthesia. I personally go and have pre-anesthesia blood testing done separately as a precaution before any elective procedures to be sure that I have reviewed the results myself, but they do offer doing this at the same time as a dental cleaning for those people who need that. Other than that I can't think of anything else that I would do to improve the care available here.

They will sit there and laugh in your face as you're crying you're eyes out from your animal dying and then threatened to call the cops on you. All they know how to do in this place is argue. However, I strongly advise against taking your pet to Dr. Holenbeck-- or as we like to call her in our household, "Hellandback." She treats her staff as if they're beneath her, and sadly, that same attitude extends to both you and your animal. We brought our Yorkie in for her first visit a little over a year ago after receiving recommendations for VCA. We couldn't believe what we experienced. The visit visit was for a wellness checkup. We knew our dog was nearing the end of her life, but Dr. Holenbeck assured us she had "many more years of quality life left," even though our Yorkie suffered for her final month after that visit. From the moment we walked through that door, knowing that we may have to put our baby to sleep, the LAST thing you want to hear is belittling your staff and YOUR CUSTOMERS. Tragically, our baby passed just one month after that checkup. Dr. Holenbeck has no business being in the veterinary field, and I truly believe she should be investigated by the medical board, let alone the "face" of the practice. She is the "medical director" and the face of the clinic, but her attitude and behavior reflect badly on the entire facility. I've overheard other pet parents in the waiting room expressing similar concerns about her. That said, the staff at VCA is wonderful and does everything they can to care for your pet. I highly recommend Dr. Betts--she is an incredible vet who treats both you and your pet with the utmost respect. After discussing the situation with a friend, she informed me about "Vet on Wheels"! I was surprised that this service even existed in our town! Thankfully it did, seeing as there would be no way I could get this cat into a portable carrier. I called the service and scheduled an appointment. A couple days later. Dr. P and her Vet Technician were in my driveway in their Mobile Veterinarian office. Dr. P came into my home and successfully sedated my cat and then moved her to her mobile office for examination . I was so pleased with this experience, and since my dogs were coming up for their annual appointments, I decided to have Dr. P exam them instead at the same time. She and her staff were very accommodating to the request, and even worked with our old vet to get their records immediately. Dr. P and her staff are great to work with and the convenience of having your Veterinarian come to you is a luxury well worth it! They were all very knowledge, professional, thorough and their follow up is impeccable. Whenever I hear someone is looking for a new Vet I always refer them to Dr. P with Vet on Wheels. I had just done a bath and a blow dry and de-matted her ears with a mat splitter as to get out all of the mats she was looking gorgeous!!!! Fluffy long ears!!! Well I missed one of the mats inside of the ear, and the doctor insisted that the inside of the ears get shaved. my husband agreed to this part.Again, we weren't there for an ear check. So they took the dog to the back and cut all her ears off down to the Nub, bare skin! inside and outside of the ears. They were about four or 5 inches long. You know how long that takes my friends. And they shaved them down to no ear left, no fur left, on the ear!!!First of all, we went in to get moles, checked, our flea tick, and heartworm medication, nothing to do with her ears! And somehow when I got my dog back, she had no ears.We've been letting her ears grow for fiveyears and yes, sometimes she gets a little mat and apparently there was a little mat on the inside of the ear. If you ask me, they were trying to find other things to charge us for they never did anything about the moles, and they were taking her back for an x-ray that wound up never happening the X-ray. We have no idea why they wanted to do an x-ray on my dog. Apparently they said she had a sprained leg which really we didn't know about that! And it didn't exist.!! So my husband canceled the x-ray because we don't really know why we were even going to have an x-ray. They had her front leg wrapped up and said it was sprained well which is it it is not. There's nothing wrong with her leg!That's not why we were there. Let's reiterate that. My King Charles cavalier came home looking awful. We have a $308 bill and her moles were checked and apparently scheduled for some surgery next month at the end of the month. No prices were No prices were discussed with us. I don't know if this is a new doctor or what? But it was very unprofessional. You ruined the look of my dog!!! We all know how long it takes for ears to grow back. Very disappointed in this place won't be coming back, for any kind of gigantic expensive surgery that they are insisting upon when in all reality we could've had those moles cut off right there in the office. I've never heard of anything so absolutely ridiculous. They SUCK! We'll never be back and we feel like we were robbed. And to add another special note every time I go there to pick up my flea and check and heartworm medication everybody in there is rude. Pissed off Client.
