(Major screw up with the rental car emergency service, ended up waiting 4+ hours). They offered to help us find the bus or get a taxi. With a menu which is a cut (and a few pennies) above average pub grub, it's also a good spot to enjoy a meal, while commuters can be seen at various points in the day slurping coffees and munching cakes as they await their train. This is a cozy pub/restaurant. To drink I went with the house Rosé and I was not disappointed. For the meal I went with the 10oz Black Angus Rib eye with sautéed Paris brown mushrooms, onion rings, chips, roasted cherry tomatoes and topped with garlic & herb butter. Though the rib eye was cooked to perfection, perfectly pink and melt in your mouth like butter, I would have liked it a little bit warmer, maybe to melt the butter a tab more. Over all the meal was perfect, in fact I ate every bite. I also added a side salad, was it vivid in color, it was fresh and great tasting and nicely went with the meal. Service was great and friendly, glad to have stopped by for dinner.

They are proud of their namesake, which centres on the story of the black greyhound of Linlithgow, whose master was imprisoned on an island in the middle of the nearby Loch and sentenced to starve to death. Everyday the greyhound swam out to her master with food and ended up saving his life. The locals call themselves 'Black Bitches' after the dogs symbolic loyalty. A great local, if quiet, tavern serving a range of real ales. It also has a nice beer garden. Apparently there is a folk music night every third Sunday of the month too.

The Bitch wasn't always on our radar, but on the occasions we did come in it was perfectly adequate.

The barman was really nice and welcoming. It's a Belhaven pub so that particular and lovely ale is served there (including the chilled variety). There's also Tartan Special and Lake District beers, amongst others. The coffees are wonderful too! The menu was varied and enticing although could have included more vegetarian choices other than macaroni cheese - perhaps a veggie burger would be a good idea as they already sell a range of meat burgers. Home made soup and a sandwich is only £4.99 - not bad these days. It's worth remembering that it's not open on Mondays.
