We took a chance and went next door to Bar El Pasillo. Here, we were seated quickly and before I knew it I had a glass of wine from Ribera Del Duero in my hand. The service was polite and prompt. My wife is allergic to nuts, and the chef made an off the menu tomato salad that was so fresh that with just a pinch of sea salt, the natural flavors exploded in my mouth. The one of a kind fish croquettes were crispy on the outside and smooth and moist upon biting the crust. Our girls loved the mini Spanish burgers. We were entertained by live music in the plaza which was far enough away to add to the ambiance but allowed dinner time conversation without yelling. It's the only food we both ate that's the same. Also it was the goats cheese salad we were throwing up. I called to let the restaurant know to not serve the goats cheese salad, then when I did a follow up call the owner / manager I spoke to showed no understanding about health and safety precautions when it comes to food. This included him not knowing that salad alone can carry deadly bacteria (his response "salad can't make you sick") and that bad batches of goats cheese can be contaminated with listeria. Although he advised they checked the sell by date, I had to advise him on letting the suppliers know immediately. The staff need to go through food health and safety training and the hygiene in the kitchens need to be checked. It's completely ruined our trips as we're now stuck in bed.
