There just is nothing better in Italy that Buffalo mozzarella or ricotta and no fresher place to get it than here, at the buffalo dairy and cheese store. We were with a guide and decided to stop on a Sunday afternoon to see if we could see the Buffalo and taste the cheeses and we were in luck. We started by walking back behind the cheese shop to say "hi" to the Buffalo who are housed in large modern barns munching away on hay while large fans circulated air to help help keep them cool and comfortable. There was even a small shower of water going that they could walk though. There were several barns with different aged animals. They seemed very content. Back in the small cheese shop you could not only buy super fresh cheeses like mozzarella and ricotta but also aged varieties and even Buffalo gelato and Buffalo meat. The shop is right on a main highway and there is plenty of parking. A great quick stop on your way back from the mountains. read more
