Also the side of hash browns I ordered looked an awful lot like home fries and burnt Service was very good though and its a very quaint little restaurant. Went here for brunch today. Son of the owner who was helping as a waiter did a great job. I had the classic breakfast - eggs, choice of meat (I went with turkey bacon), hashbrowns and toast. Toast took a bath in butter. All delicious. My son gobbled up his french toast. His friend had a burger and fries - enjoyed it. Cinnamon roll icing was tasty. Prices very reasonable. Cute little cadet in the sweet town of Dimondale. We had a family weekend and all wanted breakfast. We called Lory and she had delicious breakfast for all in 10 minutes! Lots of selection on the menu. Classic eggs, meat and potatoes, pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy. Made to order donuts! Only open for breakfast and lunch. I am told on Thursday you can order fresh made pot pie. You must order on Wednesday so she knows how many to make! We will definitely return when we are back in Michigan. read more

Took a chance on getting off the highway to go here. Great food and atmosphere. We are for sure going back!

Simple and comfortable food. This was a staple restaurant for many many years, and when the owners retired and sold, a dear village person bought it up to keep the towns favorite go to spot around. The new owner has done a fabulous job keeping some of the old (the counter seats, donuts, some staff) and brought in enough new things to refresh it. The interior is bright and clean. Simple lovely touches such as old church pews and conversational art pieces make it homey feeling. The food is good. Nothing too over the top or over done. I recommend trying the homemade cinnamon rolls either grilled or as French toast. The waffles have some kind of simple magic in them while still seemingly simple. And don't forget the bread. Salt risen is a simple twist on a white bread. I love it with a little jam on it. If I was to offer any advice to the cooks it would be in regards to the sausage gravy. Homemade and served on lots of yummy options, it lacks two things that are essential in my opinion. 1) cook off the flour taste. 2) add a little seasoning That said, I eat it. It's ok. But I'm looking for a bit more. I will return. This was my third trip and I have yet to try the lunch menu. read more

Great breakfast burritos! Small town diner feel. Good prices. They are only open until 2 most days and closed on Monday.

We've been going here since it opened. We supported them during COVID with weekly pickup orders. Every time we go, we ask to have our breakfast potatoes cooked extra crisp. And it has never been accomplished! This past Sunday, they weren't busy when we arrived (like usual), so I thought "maybe this time" , but nope. So, is the waitress not actually writing it down? Or, does the cook just not see it or care? The potatoes a mediocre, unfortunately. The coffee is great, the cinnamon rolls awesome, and the service is always pleasant. We'll keep going, because we want to support the small, local businesses, but I don't think I'm asking for too much. read more

I have been at this cute little restaurant with a good friend many times in the past. We like coming here because it is a small town place and very nice. Today the two of us got together for breakfast here and I have to say I was not very happy with our experience. My friend asked for plain toast with her eggs and the waitress didn't understand "plain toast" and it was clarified that my friend wanted just white toast. It came back written on the bill, quite clearly, "whole wheat toast". That is not what my friend had said. But she accepted the whole wheat toast anyway. I had poached eggs and I said I wanted them quite well done and didn't want them runny. Waitress also wrote that down on my bill. When I got my breakfast we did not recognize what was in the bowl, it looked like a bowl of sour cream it was so runny! I was given two replacement poached eggs that were much better. I thought there was a lot of finger snapping and rather loud humming and just unnecessary noise by our table. A couple times we couldn't even hear each other talk. Don't understand what happened here today and I'm not going to be in a big hurry to return. I have given this establishment four or five stars in the past but I can only give three at this point. We had omelet, breakfast sandwich, roast beef special between us and it was all delicious! When I discovered there was a bakery near me, I had to try the pie. I remember my Grams making pies the were so flakey and juicy. My husband and I tried (shared) a piece of each pie available on that day. We were very disappointed. The crust was not flakey. I was extremely dense and had a floury taste. The crust had to be cut with a knife due to its thickness. The blueberry, cherry and rhubarb had the best tasting filling, minus the crust. read more

This restaurant was better as 'Mikes' the food was better, the coffee was better, but what has definitely changed is the hot cocoa. It used to be creamy and rich and now it just tastes like they mixed water with half a bag of swiss-miss and called it good. It's terrible. The burgers are way overdone, and not seasoned AT ALL, they taste bland, the breakfast options are all pretty meh- I'd say skip it if you're looking for a place to eat, because everything is way overpriced for the quality you get. Drive a few more minutes and find a better place to eat. read more

If you haven't been here yet, you need to visit. MorningLory is open only for breakfast & lunch but in that window they put out some pretty delicious home-made food. My husband and I are fans of the soup/sandwich combos. At least 3 homemade soups and chili's offered every time we've been there and the best, most generous sandwiches with locally made bread. My favorite, and a high recommend to you, is the chicken/cheese/bacon sandwich; served warm and almost too much to eat in one sitting. Husband loves, well, anything with bacon and is never disappointed. (Note, a full sandwich with soup is only an extra dollar) Lory the owner has always been on site when we've been there and makes a point of visiting tables to greet customers. The building is a restored, small town shop and still carries much of its original characteristic & charm. Fun place to eat or to grab a to-go order and head to Dimondale's Island Park around the corner - its really on an island! Enjoy. read more
