Great museum, horrendous parking. The few free spaces to the east of the building g are always taken. The museum meter parking to the far north of the building always jam. They simply will not take your quarters. The parking app doesn't work. It freezes and will not enter your information. I don't why they do not make these meters free for museum guests. This museum has an immense number of exhibits spread across 4 floors! Whether that be dinosaurs, science-space discovery, war artifacts, you name it! I was never aware this facility existed and my out-of-state friend that came with me was blown away by everything inside. The pure level of research, education, and presentation was impressive. Parking certainly was a time-consuming task for us as it was difficult to understand where to park for the museum. There was little to no signage except for "Faculty/Staff Only." After driving around for a while, we learned that the parking lot cut through around the construction and lead to the side street in front of the museum building. read more

I'm not usually a fan of natural history museums but I did enjoy my visit to Morrill Hall, which is on the campus of the University of Nebraska (Go Big Red?). Large parking lot but you will need to be careful that you're in a proper spot for visiting the museum as the university cops apparently do write tickets. On four levels with rocks and stones, bones and bodies and assorted bits of human (Nebraska) history. Interesting, engaging and definitely worth at least two hours even if you're moving quickly. There is a lot to see, a number of things to touch and a bunch of things to simply experience. The little ones will definitely appreciate it. And for sure, this adult appreciated it too. What a great day for my kiddos! This is a good-sized (as in not overwhelming) museum with tons of stuff for kids to explore. I remember coming here as a kid fondly, and it was great to share with my children. They've made some serious changes since I was a kid, but some things are timeless - like the MASSIVE mammoth bones in the hall of elephants. My kids really liked the newer technology introduced on the top floor - some interactive exhibits where they can utilize microscopes, identify parasites, and actually touch/handle the exhibits which is always a plus for little kids - hands on is best!! It's on the UNL campus, so parking ended up being a bit dicey, but otherwise it was a great way to spend a hot day entertaining the kiddos inside with the AC! read more

Morrill Hall, and the Nebraska State Museum as a whole, is an incredible resource for families and visitors in Lincoln. My young children love visiting. There is a ton to see, and many interactive displays, especially on the 4th floor. Truly a Nebraskan gem. read more

I'm 75 but have loved this place since I was 4. Always take visitors because it's such a beautiful museum. 3rd floor displays a huge variety of rocks and minerals. Gift shop is a great place to get presents for curious children. To the right of the outside stairs is a special ground floor entrance to the elevator if you can't manage the large quantity of risers. Also there are free wheelchairs for folks like me, who are ambulatory...but not so much on a museum level. There are designated parking spaces but you are allowed to park in the faculty lot across the street. Just be sure to alert the reception desk at Morrill Hall so you don't get towed. read more

Morrill Hall is a great museum. Our four-year-old was delighted with the fossils, dioramas, bird calls, and rocks that glow in the dark. Even so, it's not a kids museum per se, just one that children and adults can both enjoy. We visited the museum as this was where my son wanted to take us while we toured the campus. Considering his degree is in paleontology, it makes sense. Morrill Hall is a great museum showing off geologic (fossil) records of Nebraska. I loved the mastodon and mammoth exhibits. Those are big creatures. Lots of skeletons and fossils with plenty of cards to let you know what you were looking at. It is amazing to see what roamed the American plains in the recent past. I enjoyed my time there. I would have stayed longer, but rest of the party was ready to move on. read more

Not to mention the huge fossil collect! If you're in Lincoln Nebraska this is a must do. The current cost of admission if you are not a student is $8. Small natural history museum, but worth $6 and the hour we spent wandering through the rooms. One of the more hilarious gallery is the one with the road that was filled with litter as I'm exclaimed, "how realistic!" as a kid, I came here every summer. you recall how BIG that slide was at your favorite playground was, and when you returned as an adult, you realized it didn't match up with the grandeur of your memory. well... I recall the giant mammoth bones of "elephant hall" and I came back with my own kids. that shit IS BIG! my memory did not fail me. what you may not know is that the university of NE does a lot of digging. I was recently at the smithsonian museum of natural history in washington DC, and I saw that one of their main exhibits was on loan from university of nebraska. here you will find see the world's largest articulated fossil mammoth among the premier collection of fossil elephants along with info of the omaha indians, a planetarium and if you have kids with you, the discovery station in the basement is a good place where they can touch and run and jump all they like. read more

A really great place to spend the afternoon for both kids and adults alike! A fun learning environment with a lot of neat exhibits! Lots of skeletons, fossils, and taxidermy. They have a lot of things to keep you interested and keep kids interested! They do offer a military discount which is really nice! Parking is a bit of a challenge especially on the weekends!!! The BF and I took a roadtrip to explore Omaha and since we were rained out of our Omaha Zoo plans, we made a detour to Morrill Hall. Side note, unless you are in the know if this place, you can't find it by searching dinosaur or paleontology museum; it will send you to the main natural history museum in town. PROS ~ a lot of interesting facts and displays to be had on three floors ~ good, clean restrooms ~ fun and interesting for all ages ~ parking on a rainy day was still super easy right out front ~ worth every penny of the $6 entry fee CONS ~ it could use a little update and new paint job.. but hey, it's dinos too. lol read more

I enjoy the fact that the Museum recently had a free day on Columbus Day which included FREE admittance to the Planetarium. My family and I go when they hold special events and also on a rare Thursday night. Yes, I've been there many times, but I always learn something new. I have enjoyed this place since I was ten years old. One of my most favorite places to go in Nebraska. Ian now a grown man and have brought all three of my children here at at least 5 time in the 24 years and I haven't lived close to Nebraska during that time. Morrill Hall is a museum of things to look at rather than to interact with. And boy, are there things to look at! The fossils of mammoths are huge and beautiful, with some interesting facts included too. The one interactive piece is a room where kids can go and dig up fossils in a sandbox, which is pretty nifty too. Really great place to wander around and get lost in the fossils a bit. Great and educational place to take children, but the Children's Museum downtown is a more fun and play place if that's what you're looking for. read more

When I go on vacation, now, I always try to find natural history museums to see what exhibits they have. I went here when I was up in Lincoln. Awesome exhibits, plenty of fascinating fossils, beautifully organized and quite a large building. A rock collection including all kinds of different rocks and minerals. Cultural history including Native American items and settler items. Plenty of stuff to see, and a very clean and comfortable atmosphere. Bring your kids or bring the kid in you, for a great experience to expand your curiosity and love of nature. read more

Brought my boys to Morrill Hall for my son's 10th birthday. Had an absolute blast! I would definitely recommend coming to Morrill Hall. Spent over 2 hours checking everything out.
