Several days later I saw a listing online for an apartment in Astoria that was offered by Horowitz Real Estate. Peter Horowitz promptly arranged a time to show me that apartment as well as a 2-bedroom apartment that had just become available in Astoria. They help you schedule property viewings, attend these scheduled viewings with you, provide guidance about the market and properties you're considering, and do all the typical things buyer's agents do. About the only thing they don't do is hand-hold you on finding properties in NYC- but that's what StreetEasy is for! And in the end, the best part is you get to share in their commission on the backend! What?! Yes, like thousands of dollars, right at closing... Besides actually closing, for us this was the best part of the whole home buying experience in NYC. So... if you actually need hand-holding or don't want to use StreetEasy, then this isn't for you. But for most of us this is a superior model. I highly recommend The Burkhardt Group if you're buying a place in NYC.
