I am very impressed with this store. I came here to get a few items and was pleasantly surprised. The mirrors everywhere make getting around confusing, but they have a great selection. I only paid $6 for a plum tomato, avocado, 1/4 cheese and 2 delicious fresh baked rolls. Not too bad. Some of their tomatoes were sticky, that's my only complaint here. I will be back! oh my goodness i am so in love with this place especially the deli! the whole place is so organized even just walking around feels relaxing and pleasing to the eye because everything seems to be where it should be. i love how the ice cream is arranged it's so easy to find everything. i grabbed dinner from the weight-style buffet and it was pretty good. the chicken tikka and the beef was really good. fish was okay. unfortunately the vegetables were super chewy and hard to eat but since I have a very pleasant experience i will let that slide. the deli had huge variety of selection and everything looks really appealing. i know i'm going to come back from time to time to this place! yes i think it's a bit pricey for groceries but i don't really see this is regular grocery store anyway. perhaps more for special health items, ice cream, and the deli / buffet area. in fact for deli i think they have really good value! by the way they have seating upstairs which are clean, quiet, and pretty comfortable read more

This is a great supermarket! Unfortunately my supermarket in Astoria closed to make room for more hipster apartments so if I need to pick something up on the way home I come here. They have a great selection of fresh foods, meat, veggies, specialty items....It's a supermarket you get the idea. They also have a hot/cold food buffet with some tasty items as well as great soups. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful as well. To me the prices are pretty much on par with what I would be paying in Queens so no complaints there. They also have a seating area upstairs if you want to grab some food from the buffet and sit and eat. I have personally never done that as I'm usually just grabbing food or groceries to go, but the store is always clean and easy to navigate. Definitely stop in if you're in the area. read more

All of the other reviewers appear to be people who stop in for lunch or for the prepared foods. I live in the area and have gone to Morton Williams to do actual grocery shopping and my experience has been, as you would expect, somewhat different. I will give this particular location credit for being large: they stock a variety of international foods and have a selection of groceries. HOWEVER, and this is a very big however, the last time I shopped here, I picked up three proteins: cod, chicken thigh, and lamb. Out of these three, the chicken thigh was the only one that was edible. The cod had a terrible sulfur odor and taste, almost like it was going bad -- kind of like the smell that overcooked hard-boiled eggs have. It was disgusting, and I cooked it on the same day I bought it, so there's no excuse for that. The lamb spent one day in my fridge, and when I opened it up the next day, it was definitely spoiled, even though it was still several days before the sell-by date. I have experienced similar issues with the proteins from other Morton Williams locations, so I don't think this is a location-specific issue. I wish Morton would put more effort into cultivating a food-safe environment, because it has been very disappointing to throw that food (and money) down the trash. read more

I end up here very often because I work in the area. Its by far my favourite place to get my groceries, they have everything you could need. I decided to try their hot buffet and I was pleasantly surprised. in my opinion its the nicest hot food buffet at any grocery store (sunac is pretty good too). The fish actually tasted good, they have a alot of variety and quite honestly their chicken masala was as good as I'd find in a restaurant. Morton Williams has fully stocked shelves all the time, never crowded and they are open 24 hours a day. The check-out system in Morton Williams is a lot better than WF. In WF, a 5 year old can figure out the check-out process before a grown adult can. I knocked 1 star off, because Morton Williams' prices are a little more than WF. read more

This is a review for the deli counter rather than the entire supermarket itself. This is an excellent place to get lunch if you work in the area. They have a hot food bar and a deli where they will make hot and cold sandwiches. They use Boar's Head meat and charge very reasonable prices- I haven't been there in a while but I recall a hero being about $8 and a roll being a little less. And the best part- they have a frequent shopper card, so if you get nine sandwiches the tenth one is free. If your office is nearby, add this place to your lunch rotation. read more

Be wary of the heavily Latino staff which don't appreciate white people marching into their "space", at least late at night. Love love love this place! We are staying not far from here at a hotel. I was looking for something simple to eat for a late lunch and found the hot bar/salad bar & really fresh sushi. As an NYC frequent visitor, I've been at this store 75-80 times. Are there times the sushi bin is a bit empty? YES! Are there times I want a fresh loaf of bread, and the selection is nil? YES! And times when I want a hot meal (of my choice) and the buffet no longer has lamb? YES! This tells me this store is popular (no stale food sitting around), sells items the public wants, and is far above average. Yes, they have a great assortment of cheese, and deli items, and great produce. Yet most importantly they have items that I (and obviously many other shoppers) want & sell with great success. So if sushi is gone when I arrive, then I should check in earlier in the day. The same with bread, lamb, etc. Bottom line, their food is popular, tasty, desired, and sells. So, in conclusion, if I want great food & not-too-pricey prices, I shop here. There are other shopping options nearby in UWS-midtown. Yet my palette (and wallet) likes Morton-Williams.
