Found this little gem in North Beach San Francisco on a Saturday morning stroll through Little Italy. It's a small place that sits about 25 to 30 people. Wasn't too busy when we got there and got a table right away. Everything on the menu looks good, I wanted to order everything. 2 Eggs with Half Hamburger Patty with Home Fried Potatoes was so good the Patty was juicy and well seasoned. The home fried potatoes were one of the best I ever had. I think its most likely made with beef tallow. French Toast was perfectly made. Side of Bacon was crispy and the Chicken Apple Wood Sausage was also made perfectly. I think it's because the were cooked on this rotating fire grill. Differently coming back!!! Just look at that Baby! Nothing like eating a Breakfast Burrito the size of a baby! This monster was delicious! 3 types of meat and crisp jalapeños with egg, potatoes, and yummy chili. Consistently solid food! Came here over 10 years ago when my husband and I started dating. I was always fond of their burgers and chili! Came back here last week and it was just as great as I remembered. My go to is the Belly Buster burger. Patties are grilled to order. No frills delicious burger. Chili is a must here. This is a 10-table diner and luckily they had an open table on New Year's Eve morning. We got here late enough that they also had burgers available so we ordered scrambled eggs and a classic cheeseburger. The eggs were delicious! They were soft and fluffy. Probably some of the best I've had. As I walked in, I saw them cooking the potatoes per order and these were also very good. I don't usually go out for breakfast but I'd do it if it was at Mo's. I enjoy the blueberry pancakes at IHOP and I enjoy the ones here a lot more. They feel homier and really scratch that itch for a good pancake. Add a glass of orange juice and a side of eggs and you'll love it here. Felt nostalgic so went back to North Beach Mo's grill for some old time memories. My family used to own the building. We had our real estate office at this location and my grandparents lived in the apartment above. Mos did a nice job with the renovations and the atmosphere was quite lively. Came here during north beach's first Friday and was looking for a place that we can sit down for some sustenance. Cute diner vibes but the horrible experience with the service. There's only one waitress and I understand it's a Friday night and it's busy. We got our table first and set there awkwardly for a good 20 minutes before we got to order (have to physically get up to find the waitress to ask to order). Saw other groups set down after us get served first, was quite frustrated. We got the alpine burger with fries to share and each got a cup of clam chowder. It's a good diner burger with a hearty patty. The buns were a bit cold even tho it was roasted on their rotating grill. Fries were kinda just meh and bit soggy to my liking. The clam chowders were salty and kinda tasted more like potato soup. Wouldn't get that again. Wow. Huge portions, delicious food, casual interior, and super chill weeknight dinner spot to go to. They have a rotating grill in the front of the restaurant that they grill burgers and chicken on. The caesar salad they make with the grilled chicken is the best in the city. They also do daily specials, rotating between a rack of ribs, brisket, chicken, and others. Worth trying!! Walking around North Beach and decided to try Mo's, knowing it's been around for quite sometime. We were curious about this "no frills" diner. We entered around 5pm. There were at least 5 other tables during this off hour, which is a good sign. We both decided to get what they're known for, BURGERS! Each 1/2 lb patty is grilled over volcanic rock. When you enter, you can see the guy in the center cooking burgers! FRENCH BURGER ~ Best burger stuffed with imported goat cheese topped with caramelized onions on a crusty bun. I wanted medium rare which when I got it, it was a bit more rare than expected, but it was still good. I didn't get sick, so it's all good! But if you're not used to a red middle, I'd go with a medium doneness. The cheese was really rich and tasty! And I also got french fries on the side. (You get a choice of french fries, cup of chili, side salad, cole slaw or a cup of soup.) 5/5 PATTY MELT ~ Burger and 2 pieces of American cheese topped with caramelized onions on sourdough bread. This burger was perfectly medium rare, but the patty was only in the middle and would fit buns rather than two pieces of sliced bread. Basically, you don't get meat on the left or right side. I think if these patties are made to order, it should fit the bread? It just isn't as good if you get bites of onions and bread without meat. If you like meat and bread together, order a hamburger instead and skip the patty melt. The chili was good and a bit more spicy than expected. 3/5 It's about $20 for each burger with a side. That's an extra $4.50 for french fries, coke slaw, side salad, cup of chili or soup. Not bad considering your plate is really full and any hungry person would be satisfied at the end. We'd definitely come back when we're in the mood for a burger! read more

My office used to be about five blocks away and I remember picking up food with my coworker to bring back. My uncle who works in the neighborhood mentioned that this was a regular lunch spot for him pre-2020. I came here for lunch on a Wednesday in April a little before noon. I'm going to put it like this, Mo gets it. I go for the hamburgers so I can't speak on anything else. But Mo knows his way around a burger I can tell you that much. Flame broiled burgers are a fine art that does not get enough credit. This place is just a classic North Beach diner that lets the food do the talking. Not too extra on the inside except for the gorgeous spinning grill they work with. Very solid service. I think I can say confidently that Mo does the best hamburger in the North Beach area. I got the chili cheese fries too. The style of fries are some of my favorite. A little on the thin side and salty. The chili was surprisingly good and I think they sneak some chicken in there. My family has been coming here for over 30 years, and it's a shame it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. So here I am to give them their flowers. My friend and I wanted a snack before hitting the bars, so we decided to split a cheeseburger. We asked for it medium but it came closer to medium rare, no biggie. It's chargrilled on a rotating grill, and the flavor profile is what a good burger is supposed to taste like. A toasted brioche bun with some mayo, and some fresh cut fries, it's the American dream. Their fries are what in-n-out are supposed to be. Not too thin, flavorful, and the perfect amount of thickness. Super tasty. I've learned that If you have to put hella fancy schmancy proteins like pork belly or other high end toppings on a burger, it's prolly not very good. To judge the quality of a burger, just give me meat and cheese, plus whatever normal veggies (lettuce, tomato, onion). If they do a plain cheeseburger well, it will speak for itself. Another one of my SO's favorite places that he shared with me. He raves about their burgers so we stopped in one weekend for a late lunch/early dinner. He had a patty melt on a french roll instead of the usual, and I tried a bite. It was good.. well seasoned, and the fries were better than I expected as well. As for me, I had the BLT and it was great. Plenty of perfectly cooked, meaty, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce and tomato.. toasty bread...and I added avocado because of course. The cole slaw was a little on the sweet side which I normally don't go for but it was fresh, cold and crunchy and went really well with the salty bacon. Outstanding. Very good salad - very good indeed. The owners of the local businesses create a special atmosphere in their establishments, putting customers in the simplicity of home and a sense of your long-standing intimacy. I recommend to visit Mo's Grill personally and to try their breakfast burrito and especially the very good salad. I'm in love with it because all the ingredients are my favorite products (which are also fresh from them). Speaking of burgers (the selection of which intrigued even me), I'm not one of their fans, but my acquaintances are. So, they ordered two different burgers that turned out very appetizing to look at. Best kept secret in North Beach. When I walked in I felt like I was transported back to old San Francisco. The place is dated but charming and clean. I was immediately greeted and given the choice to sit where I please. The food was incredible with good sized portions for a reasonable price. The french toast was perfect and I will state, Mo's probably has some of the best breakfast potatoes around! The restaurant states they use only organic eggs which was a nice bonus. When you're craving a classic no frills kinda burger with fries and shake- the craving has be attended to or else you'll just go to bed wishing you had one. So we were determined to find such spot after spending time at fisherman's wharf. As we tried yelping, we were surprised by the lack of good looking burgers in the area.
