    Broken/exposed ceiling fan

Where to start... I booked my room for October 8th 2022 as a stopping point for my truck driving. Per DOT regulations I had to shut down for minimum of 10 hours before rolling again. I arrived to the property, checked in, and made my way to the room. The check in process was easy and all seemed "ok"... a little musty smelling due to tenants smoking in rooms (for example my NON smoking room, reeked of cigarettes). Upon reaching my room I noticed all the room numbers were taped and written in with permanent marker... odd but alright. Once I walked in that when I immediately priced the smell of smoke (as mentioned above), and also began noticing and group of different "room discrepancies" and even safety code violations. What I saw... 1.) the light fixture above the bed: the cover to the light was broken and hanging down on one end and another portion of the same light cover appeared to have blood or something stained on it. 2.) the amenities listed online pertaining to my room were not actually included (like a fridge). The bathroom: 1.) the shower head was coming out of a literal hole in the wall about 2-3" in diameter. 2.) the ceiling fan cover was broken and the fan hole was completely exposed. 3.) the light fixture for the "heat lamp" was not only exposed completely due to the cover being broken but there was also no light in the socket and had live power (extreme fire/electrical hazard). ... upon noticing all this I immediately went down stairs and brought it to the attention of the front desk clerk. Her only response to all the above was... "oh, those room don't come with amenities, only our sweets do" at which time I pulled up there website and showed her what is listed to which she responded "well there's nothing I can do". * I'd like to remind you per DOT regulations there was nothing I could do either. I made it clear this was not ok and I would refused to have my deposit garnished for anything in the room... Upon going back upstairs I felt like that would be it and my intent was to just take a shower and leave as soon as I could...I turned on the shower letting it warm while I was grabbing my change of clothes. Upon stepping in the shower I immediately realized the water was cold, having though I mistakenly set the knob incorrectly I turned it and it got even colder! I went down stairs and brought this new discrepancy to the clerk to which she replied "oh, yeah... the water boiler has been broke, the entire building hasn't had hot water" I was stunned... at that very moment another potential customer was asking about room prices when she responded but didn't mention anything about the "no hot water" I made mention. The patrons did not end up booking. There response to this was to call the police and have me removed from the premises for disrupting there business. They also did so without refunding the 145 dollars spent on the room. I have never in my entire adult/ professional life have I been treated so horribly as a patron somewhere (I'm 35 years old and a business owner of a pressure washing service company) and was completely appalled at there customer service as well as there lack of concern/care for there patrons. To back up I requested to speak with a manager several times to which the clerk could never provide me with name or contact her on her own... I'd like to make mention also of another group downstairs at the time locked out of there room... it was 3 older women and an older man. The hotel issued them a room that only had a master key and when they went to dinner and lost it the hotel couldn't provide them with a remake to get into the room... they were downstairs for 2+ hours (and still after I left). This is absolutely obsurd and unbecoming of ANY hotel service company! I will be filing formal complaints with their corporate office, on every social media platform, to include Google, yelp, and other hotel booking sites!

First, their web page lies: no room has a microwave or a fridge. Mgmt says they took them all out but didn't bother to change the ad. There is no smoke alarm in the room- just wires hanging from the ceiling. In room coffee all removed. And there is no coffee anywhere on premises. The ice machine does not work. The gas station next door is permanently closed. There is nothing. WHY would you stay here???

Beautiful, classic New Mexican architecture surrounded by desert and mountain views. The grounds are beautiful with options for biking (included), tennis/pickleball, walks, horseback riding, and golf. Located about 30 minutes north of Albuquerque and 45 minutes south of Santa Fe, made it easy to spend time in either. We were able to check in early, which was so nice after an early travel morning. Our room was large and included the classic hotel amenities, including waters. We were staying slightly during the off season, so two pools were open, which was fine as it wasn't that busy and it didn't get hot until about noon. Due to the location of the resort, it is easiest to eat at the property and there are a couple of options available: The Corn Maiden - nicer dining experience, Santa Ana Cafe - casual sit-down, Rio Grande Lounge - bar and bites, and Plaza - pool cafe. During our visit the Plaza pool restaurant was only open on Saturday. We tried in-room dining for breakfast one morning, as we were up early, the eggs had little to no flavor, and a couple of our items were forgotten/late. Not a huge deal as we understood they were training a lot of staff during the time of our stay. Overall, the food throughout all the dining options was just okay, and if there were more dining options close by, I would probably go there. The restaurants all tasted the same and there didn't seem to be much variety. It would be nice if at least one of the dining options was a different kind of cuisine to bring some variety. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, the staff was so friendly and helpful. There are plenty of activities to do at the resort and we loved that they had nightly s'mores. The room was great, but food could be better.

The property itself is beautiful and expansive, sits on Tamayame land, and at the outset of the conference a member of the Native American tribe welcomed us and shared about the land and setting. The property has with multiple event spaces, an on-site trail, a large gym, and several pools. It is a fairly large resort (our room was at one end, so it was about a 7-10 minute walk to the main lobby area). Each day began with a large breakfast buffet, and lunch was similarly well done. One of the highlights was being able to sit outside during meals at large tables overlooking the grounds, mountains, trees, and fresh air made for a really peaceful setting. For breakfast, I enjoyed the red/green chilies chilaquiles (New Mexican style breakfast), it was very flavorful and I enjoyed trying but was very spicy/heavy. From a conference and events perspective, the resort is very impressive. There is a large main conference room with a stage, and the room can accommodate over 100 people (at round tables), along with many smaller breakout rooms. Over two evenings, we attended events at different venues on the property, one about a 10-minute walk away (with hotel mini-bus transportation available), and another closer to the main area under a tent. The more distant venue was quite large and set apart, likely used for weddings and larger celebrations. That evening included a buffet dinner, DJ, dancing, and multiple bar setups. The second evening closer to the main hotel was a seated dinner under a tent, with music and performances in a more contained setting. There is also a nice bar and restaurant in the lobby, as well as another more casual restaurant by the pool. Given time constraints, I was not able to fully take advantage of all the amenities (including the spa, horseback riding, and longer trail walks), but I would absolutely recommend this property. It is incredibly scenic, serene, and feels immersed in nature, and I would gladly return.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5 - Honest Review from a Traveler, Not......an Influencer…read more I was traveling through this area on vacation and chose this hotel based on reviews -- it had a 4.9 rating, the highest in the area. That said, I'm not sure how it earned that score. I suspect a few influencers may have artificially boosted the rating without even staying here. I'm not saying this is a bad place to stay, but it's definitely not a 4.9 -- not even close. I just want to give an honest account so others can make an informed decision. PROS: Security/Parking: Felt like a safe area. Our vehicle was untouched overnight, and parking was well-lit. Interior Design: The hotel is older, but it's been updated -- mostly with fresh paint and new furniture. Room Appearance: Generally clean. Rooms have hardwood floors instead of carpet, which helped with cleanliness. Breakfast: The breakfast was fresh and tasty -- no complaints here. Bed Quality: Beds were comfortable enough. The pull-out sofa wasn't great, but that's not unusual for pull-outs. Entertainment: Large TV with a good variety of channels -- definitely a plus. Pool: Pool and pool area were well-maintained and inviting. CONS: Customer Service: Check-in experience was poor. The front desk clerk was on her phone when we walked in. She seemed rushed and disinterested when helping us, like she had to get back to her conversation. Amenities: Only two washcloths provided in a suite with two queen beds and a pull-out -- not ideal. Towels and washcloths were rough and felt cheap. Also, bring your own body wash and shampoo -- the ones provided didn't lather or rinse well, according to several in our group. Housekeeping/Condition: There was a damp, musty odor in the room -- likely due to the age of the building. The overall cleanliness was acceptable, but the smell lingered. Food Options Nearby: Not much to choose from in the immediate area, so plan to eat before you arrive or drive a bit to find something decent. Final Thoughts: If you're just looking for a place to crash for the night, this hotel may work. But go in with realistic expectations -- this is more of a 3-3.5 at most star experience, not a luxury stay. I'm not trying to discourage you, just sharing an honest take so you're not misled by glowing 5-star reviews.

The front desk insisted they could not put it on a card with someone's else's name, though this had been pre-arranged and the HI manager/staff never once mentioned that before. They insisted on getting credit cards from different people for each room. The next day, my mother in law had to go in to confirm once again that she wanted the rooms on her card (and give them a piece of her mind). We all agreed this must have been the most business ever done by this Holiday Inn and, unless they improve their management, I don't see them contiuing to get much more.
