I believe the difference between 4 star and 5 star is the room you select. All were very nice. The French restaurant in the lobby across from buffet restaurant was excellent. My group all ordered the same thing.... grass fed filet that was amazing and Uruguay Tanat / Malbec blend that was delicious. The buffet was very good for breakfast and lunch. Pool deck menu looked good too. Folks next to me were eating fries and they looked amazing. Pool deck bar is great- ice cold beer and frozen drinks.

We didn't have a car but this was convenient location across from the Paulinia Mall. We arrived early but the hotel was able to check us in at around noon. Our rooms were slightly different. My colleague who was traveling with me got the corner room with vaulted ceiling. I had a middle room without the vaulted ceiling. There is a restaurant and bar next to the hotel with reasonable hours. We visited the mall for lunch and then rested before dinner at the hotel. Overall, our stay was very good and accommodating. We didn't have adapter plugs and the front desk was able to provide this to us. Also, my room gave me really bad allergies so I was able to change room in the middle of my stay. I will give a brief review of all the amenities below. BREAKFAST *** The breakfast was buffet which changed a little over the week. I was very impressed that local fruits were served for breakfast such as papaya, watermelon, and honeydew. Also, there was nice selection of bread and nice spread of cold cut meats and cheeses. I usually like to eat oatmeal and there was none. However, there was a selection of cereal. DINNER **** In terms of quality, this is far superb compared to what is available across the street at the Paulina mall. I would have to say that the bar has louder music and tends to fill up. The restaurant has more space but sometimes it hosts parties so there is a DJ too. However, not as frequent compared to the bar of course. ROOM *** The room has AC and light controlled by activated room key card. Once you remove it, the room no longer has AC and lights are turned off. This is for energy-conservation. You will also notice the floor lights are off and motion-sensitive once you leave the elevator. We had another colleague visit later and he requested 2 room keys to keep his room cool at all times. The beds are pretty firm but I got used to it. Also, there are frequent parties so my colleagues also mentioned being awoken at night to loud music from restaurant. I ended up wearing earplugs at night to get a good night's sleep. The housekeeping kept everything clean and tidy which was nice. Also, the TV is nice that you can select English rather than hear Portuguese on the international channels. FITNESS ROOM *** During my stay, I visited the fitness room which is on the mezzanine level. You have to walk across to the opposite side closer to the restaurant in order to get to this middle level. The nice thing about the gym is that it has a water purification unit. So, I refilled my water bottle there every other day or so. There is only 2 treadmills and one bike and elliptical. This made it a little challenging with using equipment since this hotel is a convention center with 19 floors (172 rooms). Most of the time, I was able to use the treadmills and other times not. There is a very extensive weight lifting equipment so that is nice too. POOL *** The only pool is outdoor and it is really mostly decoration. There is a wading pool at both ends next to seating area. In the middle is a long, narrow, deeper pool for lap swimming. I say narrow since really it can fit two people width. The times I used it there were maybe just 2 people so this was fine. The pool was nice but not heated. The hotel blocks most of the sun so it still felt a little cold to swim in. No towels on the chairs so you have to get it from the lobby. Otherwise, it was nice but would have preferred heated pool. LOBBY DESK **** In terms of service, the staff was wonderful to get us taxi over the weekend. They also helped out to change my room in the middle of the stay. Also, they spoke English which made it easier for us. We found that in the malls and stores that few spoke English.

The place feels luxurious in some parts and attention to detail is evident. We enjoyed the tours offered, hiking trails, massages, horseback riding, ziplining, etc. The only thing that was a little lacking was the spa. While the saunas were great, the jacuzzi and the facilities felt a little outdated. Special shout out to Juliano and Antonio (restaurant) and Tia Piti. You guys truly made our stay even better!
