The hotel is gorgeous, rooms are comfortable with great views and staff is beyond kind. One caviat, if you have a hard time going up stairs you may want to request to be put on the second floor instead of the third as they do not have an elevator. For most it shouldn't be a problem as they also have a small one for luggage only. The most fantastic is the breakfast. The first day I had to leave at 6am so before the breakfast starts (7am). It consisted of an awesome selection of local breads, croissants, yogurt, hyper-fresh fruit salad, espresso, fresh orange juice, cheeses, and all of that served with an amazing kindness by the staff!

Usually we stay at the Madonna House, but with the recent changes we were unable to. We were delightfully surprised by the accommodations at the Auberge La Veranda. The manager is extremely helpful and helped to organize breakfast for us, coffee, and refreshments each day. The rooms are extremely well stocked and kept. From refrigerator and stove, to AC and TV, to pots and pans and silverware in the kitchenette. Each day at the Auberge La Veranda was special for our family pilgrimage because it is still walking distance from the Basilica and the staff are so welcoming and nice. We are very thankful to have found this hotel and we would stay here again very readily. please stay here if you get the chance.

Mid April (off season) I would have loved to be more generous as the staff is so nice, and my mom, who has worked for the gvt for years, have sworn by these hotels for years. Unfortunately, yes this hotel is getting old. Old rooms partly renovated. Well chosen colours to adapt to today's styles. But you can see the "partly renovated" efforts through details: patching between toilet tiles, stains on old rugs, old wood furniture from the 90s, paint peeling off in the bathroom. The look, I could have passed by personally, but I chose an hotel room cause I told myself, this will be quieter from sure and there is service. Like I said, staff amazing. On day 1, my card did not work after remagnezing it, but the manager came himself as his handyman had already left. It took him 15 minutes to change te batteries(complicated system) of door knob and all was fine afterward. Had to get a new card the day after, as it got again unmagnetized. But unfortunately it is not well isolated sound wise. Could hear slightly my neighbours tv and hear him coughing. I thought, a new couple on their honeymoon, we hear them for sure. It has also one of these communicating double doors between rooms. Though this is practical for events -Like I said my mom used to work for the gvt and sometimes they'd use adjacent bedrooms to have a 5-7 room for their guests (one room to prep food and drink and one for the party) - kind of weird feeling when I first saw it, as we're not used to it anymore. It is absolutely well situated though. Right between old Trois-Rivieres and downtown. Loved it. Did everything by foot. The heating: one of those old wheel ones...when after the click it gets too hot, and below it, you freeze. The scent: I actually loved it as it was a memory of my youth, joining my mom in such hotels. Like a powdery - clean odour. The lighting is horrible. Nothing on the ceiling and at night, aside for the entrance and bathroom, the room is softly lit. I love this option for when needed, but not practical when you look into your thing's. They could have opted fir at least a 3 level lamp in that table corner. Also above the bed, they are neons...so noisy it was aggravating ! The beds are clean from what we can tell. and slept well. The parking is included and enough space. No breakfast but this is mentioned. I was by myself and had 2 queens bedroom. They don't seem to have one bed rooms. Which they should rethink and give more space. If we would have been two or more...we would have lacked wardrobe and counter space. In general, great cheap option if you are looking to save some bucks. Personally I'd would have paid the 40$ extra to get an apt in a rental website for the space and feeling more at home option. But this is perfect for people who want to save, youngsters or anyone who is also in and out of the city or looking just for a room to sleep at night and explore this cute city. Voilà et bon séjour!

They also have a normal restaurant near the lobby that serves a la carte for the holidays. The food is always pretty standard but they do have some options you don't expect like sushi sometimes. The belle of the ball is the chocolate fountain though *heart eye emoji* Staff is nice and quick to clean up your plates, the hotel is always clean and welcoming, and the parking (I believe) is free.

HI should clone him and have him in every HI property. We were pleasantly surprised that there were Uber drivers available, which we utilized for round trips to the downtown area. The premises is kept very clean, from the exterior to the interior.  The lobby area had a nice lounge area with loveseats and chairs.  The rooms are clean with Dove soaps and shampoos along with plenty of towels. Additionally, the property is quiet and the breakfast is adequate.  Absolutely no complaints!

Table with good work/eating space, dresser, bedside table, wall mounted open hangers, iron and ironing board behind murphy bed, flat screen TV with all the French programming you could want (including those crazy cartoons), lounging chair, desk chair, and mini fridge to complete the room. The front house staff were very polite and seemed to be the only ones with some command of the English language in Trois-Rivieres, which was comforting since I have no command of the French language. There is a beautiful park just 5 minutes walk past the bridge to the right of the hotel. It was along the riverfront and had a great view of the entire bridge. There was an ice-cream shop at the front of the park. Walking/biking path surrounded several large fields for soccer & outdoor activities. It was a Saturday when I visited, so many people were out playing or having a picnic. Past the park about another 5-10 minute walk began retail/grocery storefronts. There was a buffet across the road less than 5 minutes from the park in which the taxi driver recommended (at least I think it was a recommendation), but I'm not big on those. So I kept walking (it was a beautiful day), after another 10 minutes I passed a Tim Horton's, Subway, & some other restaurants/cafes tucked inside the strip malls. I continued to walk until I hit the epicenter for gathering by the locals; Rue Des Forges. Countless retail, bars, & restaurants. This was about 30 minutes walk from the hotel, but worth it. (google maps states 2.7 miles) I settled on Angelines after seeing the Yelp reviews & it was worth it. Overall it was a great experience. This hotel is a little far from the action of the town, but if you don't mind a walk or paying for a cab to get there I highly recommend it. There was an outdoor pool & tennis courts on the premises as well. I'm sure they had a gym, but I was there for a limited time and did not go looking. I would not recommend eating breakfast in the hotel though. It was an additional $6 and did not look appetizing at all (I didn't partake based on the presentation alone). I stayed on a Friday night in September 2014; the room rates were $140 Canadian per night. Hopefully this will help those traveling in the area looking for a place to stay.
