We went for my birthday in early January and was funny how we stumbled upon it. Pleasantly surprised to discover a fusion and Filipino-inspired menu. While they seem to always be busy, the staff work very efficiently and get the orders out fast! This bagel shop operates in a single room looking house, it's very quaint and decorated very cozily inside. They have a bathroom for customers and plenty of outdoor seating, as the inside of the restaurant is on the smaller side. The bagels here are incredible! Very soft and pillowy textures with lots of flavor. I love the unique flavors for both the bagels and the cream cheeses. It was so fun and delicious getting to try them. Ikura - 10/5, the soy sauce-cured ikura was some of the best I've ever had! It paired so well with the tobiko cream cheese and furikake bagel. The pickled onions were a great touch. I love this flavor combination, it was an umami bomb! Heirloom tomato - 5/5, paired this with the garlic herb cream cheese and jalapeño cheddar bagel. This is such a classic summer seasonal bagel, and I loved the chives on top of the heirloom tomatoes. Very delicate and delicious flavors. Lox - 3/5, a decent lox bagel but underwhelming in comparison to the other options and flavors available. The gravlax lacked flavor, and I felt like it was undersalted during the curing process. Pinoy Palmer- 5/5, a delicious mango iced tea with calamansi juice. I thought this was a fun Filipino twist on the drink. I would have liked a bit more calamansi juice to make it brighter and sweeter, but it was still definitely tasty! Caramelized banana latte - 5/5, delicious sweet coffee with a hint of banana flavor. Sourdough bagels alert!! This spot had a line out the door at 9:30am on a Saturday but don't let that scare you. The line moves fast and the food/drinks come out fast too. They are very efficient! My friend and I shared two of their open face bagels where you also get to pick your bagel and cream cheese. Our picks: heirloom tomato bagel (rosemary bagel / sea salt cc)and avocado bagel (everything bagel / garlic and herb cc). Overall, the bagels themselves were literally perfect. Parking was easy to find street side and while there might be a line, just know it's worth it. I ordered the salmon bagel with garlic schmear on a sesame bagel. It was an experience. The salmon was fresh and the accompanied toppings perfectly complimented it. As for their drinks, I love their fun seasonal menu. The black sesame matcha with black sesame cold foam is the best. THE BEST BAGELS I'VE EVER HAD. Hands down. In my 1 week trip to Santa Barbara, I went back 3 times. The bagels are the perfect texture of crisp on the outside but soft with the perfect chew inside. The barista is doing amazing work. She was so kind asking us if our drink needed more syrup and if it was to our liking. Plus the drinks are delicious! This spot has great matcha and its so underrated. The earl grey matcha was a fav. The heirloom with gochujang cream cheese on a furikake bagel is my go-to order. If you're looking for something sweet, the strawberry jam on a rosemary or sea salt bagel is fantastic. I loved that they are in a small house and have both indoor and outdoor seating. We came here on a Sunday morning for brunch. There was a long line and limited seating, so account for that when you're here. The ambiance was pretty lively. There so many unique flavors in the bagels and spread - though several of the spreads and bagel flavors were out by the time we got to the front to order. I ordered the Avocado with Chili Crunch and Gochujang Spread on an everything bagel. It was delicious and the slightly spiciness from the gochujang spread and chili crunch was perfect with the creaminess of the avocado and fresh microgreens. Overall a great combination of flavors! My husband Matt B. and I went to Mother Dough Bagels a few weeks back for a quick, easy weekday breakfast. Matt is the bagel fiend, but I'll partake once in a while, particularly if there's smoked salmon involved. Mother Dough is a cute place, in a cheerful little house with lots of plants and a roomy patio. It was pretty busy at 8:00 on a random Wednesday morning, and I'm guessing it's a real scene on the weekends. Service was fast and friendly, and we were in and out in maybe 45 minutes, taking our time. Matt got his usual poppy seed bagels with plain spread and a regular grown-up latte. I only drink coffee and eat bagels for fun, so I got a black sesame latte and a salmon bagel, which came with yuzu gravlax, capers, and pickled shallots, on choice of bagel with choice of spread. I maxed it out with the jalapeño cheddar and the tobiko spread, though I either got the wrong spread by mistake or the tobiko spread had very little tobiko. In any case, the latte was sweet and enjoyable, and the bagel was nice, very airy in a way I didn't expect. I liked the salmon and all the fixings that came with it, including the two little cornichons. I would certainly have liked more cornichons, but what else is new. I don't know when I'll get back to Mother Dough, seeing as most days, I neither eat breakfast nor live in Santa Barbara. I enjoyed my visit, though, and would recommend the place if you're in town and want a tasty bagel. read more

This was an epic spot. We got there pretty early, and I'm glad we did. We were first in a pretty long line- non stop for like 45 minutes after we ordered. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu was larger than I originally anticipated but I still got what I came for. I came with a friend and we ordered the Heirloom+ and anchovies (highly recommend getting anchovies, as well as the sesame bagel with honey butter, a caramel miso almond milk latte, and a calamansi matcha. We ordered pretty simple bagels- the quality on simple things was exceptional. Bouncy soft bagels with a crisp exterior. The honey butter was the right amount of salty, sweet, with a touch of spice of the cinnamon. The heirloom with anchovies was a star, texture flavor, a true standout on their menu- the right amount of acid from the lemon zest. I loved the miso caramel latte, 8 oz was the perfect size but I for sure could have gone for more. The calamansi matcha was refreshing and bright. There was a beautiful seating area in the yard but there's still lots of seating inside. It was clean bright and just right for an early morning before our road trip back home. Amazing bagel spot! It was fun to find out that it was filipino-owned after I saw that they had a "Pinoy Palmer" on the menu! Came here on a Saturday and it had a bit of a line, but the wait didn't take forever. Noted to come a little earlier next time because some of the bagel options ran out. We ordered the salmon, the heirloom (with anchovies), calamansi juice (with matcha), and an americano. The bagels were super tasty. I would say the salmon was a little on the salty side, but I'm guessing that is because of the smoked salmon plus the capers. Still very tasty! I also enjoyed the heirloom. Wow.. it's been forever since I devoured a whole bagel with the works! I had the furakaki bagel with tobiko cream cheese and the box for two! Such a great deal. I appreciated the attention to detail from this bagel place -- from the location, ambiance of the shop, & the friendly workers. My boyfriend and I just got out of Sunday mass nearby & headed over. We were the first ones in line. We ordered The Ikura on a furikake bagel (with tobiko as the spread) & The Salmon on an everything bagel (with garlic herb spread). I also purchased a chocolate chip cookie since it was freshly baked. Surprisingly enough I didn't order a matcha though will definitely plan to the next time we're here. To preface, I'm not a huge bagel fan and my boyfriend is not a big sourdough fan, but we both loved this place. They have super fun unique flavors, really sweet staff and service. Indoor and outdoor seating as well as fun seasonal artisan gifts all packed into a small quaint little store. For the bagels: We did an Heirloom (5/5) (THIS WAS OUR FAVORITE). (Bagel+ spread with heirloom tomatoes and herbs+ anchovies) with a selection of their rosemary bagel + herb garlic spread. The flavors were so well balanced in this, I really recommend the pickled anchovies even if you hate anchovies because it just adds another layer of brightness and palette cleansing and it's balanced with the sweetness of the tomatoes, and then also you taste the light notes of olive oil. UGH. We also had to try the very furikake bagel which we got with the tobiko spread. We are still thinking about this one too. For a personal preference of mine, I appreciated that they give you the bagel as 2 halves instead of as a sandwich also they don't slather on the spread super thick. This makes it easier to share and there was furikake all over the top AND the bottom, some bagel places have a bit of a bare bottom... The bagel is so toasty you get the roasted seaweed and sesame coming through in each bite and paired with the creamy tobiko was just *chefs kiss* Coffees: we got the miso caramel latte and a blueberry latte. Mother Dough was one place I wanted to check out while in Santa Barbara. We headed there around 10AM on a Saturday morning. The line was out the door and off to the sidewalk. There are tons of street parking around. I think we waited about over 30 minutes. Mother Dough is located in a house setting with sitting inside and out. You order inside and they call you once your order is ready. I ended up getting their Furikake bagel with garlic herb cream cheese. I didn't feel like the cream cheese was garlic or herb enough but the Furikakae bagel was really good. The bagels are sourdough type bagels. I see what the hype is about at Mother Dough Bagels. The freshly baked hand rolled sourdough bagels are chewy and slightly crunchy. The perfect texture in every bite. On my visit, I ordered the garden + everything bagel. My choice of spread was charred scallion. The bagel was topped with thinly sliced cucumbers, pickled red onions, lemon zest, and micro greens. It literally is a garden of greens, which was delicious! Next visit will be the Furikake with lox or salmon. They also offer poppy, sesame, and sea salt bagels. For bevvies, I ordered a cappuccino to start. Then I seen customers with the matcha, and it looked really good. I decided to try the matcha with strawberries. So happy to have finally tried Mother Dough Bagels! Driving from out of town (LA) this was a must try and we made it right at 9 & there was already a line. The employees were nice and the whole process was seamless. The bagels I ordered were so fresh and the best was that it was sourdough, and really good. We got a selectins of items, starting with the Furikake bagel, Sesame bagel and Everything lose bagels with garlic herb spread. Along with their open spaced specials, the heirloom and the garden, both on everything bagels. Their coffee was delicious as well and love that they use Clover organic milk. I got here around 8:30am on a Friday and the line was short. That being said, it got busy pretty quickly. The staff were friendly and working diligently. I got an everything bagel with sea salt spread which was made pretty quickly. It tasted phenomenal! I devoured it quickly. My vanilla oat latte however was not that great (hence not giving five stars). I don't know if it was the vanilla flavoring or the milk was bad or...?? Anytime a new bagel business opens around these parts, my mom and I are eager to try it!! Thankfully, we got to try Mother Dough Bagels today. When we arrived there was a bit of line but we hopped in. It was consistently moving which was a relief. We were able to snag a cute two-person table by the window while we waited for our food. After a few minutes, our order came out! My mom and I immediately shared half of each bagel and dug in! Embarrassingly, I misread the menu and didn't realize the ikura had salmon roe. However, it was very delicious! All of the flavors complimented each other well and all of the textures worked perfectly together. The blueberry bagel was very good and definitely feels like a staple! I wasn't wowed by this place like anticipated. The honey cream cheese leaves an awful coating texture in your throat like throat coat, throwing off the food. There is a line out of the door for this place, before it even opens, but for good reason! These bagels are truly some of the best I've had in Santa Barbara, and I went into it pretty skeptical that the line was worth it. The sourdough gives the bagels a unique texture and taste, while still being fluffy with a nice crust. We tried the poppy, sesame, sea salt and rosemary bagels with the sea salt cream cheese and loved them all! Just a couple of notes, there is no "plain" smear. The closest to it is the sea salt. And the rosemary bagels are essentially the sea salt bagel with some extra seasoning. Their other treats were quite popular as well, with the sweet corn cookies selling out right in front of me (at 10am) so I had to try the yuzu olive oil cake. Very solid sweet treat! The vanilla latte was very creamy and strong coffee flavor and the strawberry matcha was good but I wish there was more strawberry syrup to make it sweeter. The hours and days of the store are a little unusual, I wanted to come on Thursday but they aren't open. They have interesting flavors like black sesame, gochujang, yuzu, furikake, etc. The store is a little newer so I'm sure they're working out kinks, but they were running out of certain bagels when I came in around 9:30am. this bagel place has changed my life. My partner and I were visiting Santa Barbs for a weekend and stubbed upon this cosy cottage by fate. We were caught by the bagel sign and intrigued by the line that formed. As we warmed ourselves in the sun while waiting, we noticed how happy everyone in line was. There was no impatience. We noticed the matching pastel exterior and as we made it through the door, the bright lit living room and forest green kitchen. If the smell of baked bread and fresh coffee didn't lore you, the direct look into the kitchen did. We didn't know anything. Looked at the menu and just picked: tomato, avocado, garden. We waiting and sat in awe of how special this place felt, the joy that radiates throughout. Our name is called and bagels were brought. And in shock we were. These were no quick fix bagels with veg. these were art. Oh my goodness. So much care and thought were put into these bagels, and the first bite confirmed this. Nothing was out of proportion. Not overwhelming, everything just blooming into your mouth. Bagels were soft but had that doughy texture with a chew but wasn't chewy, anyone, any age could participate in this experience. And the taste. oh the taste. that sourdough taste. perfected. I honestly have never. never. had a spiritual experience similar. I talked about them all day. Researched them all night.
