The portions were huge and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed the steak which was covered with country gravy. The staff was very warm and welcoming as well. I like the soup very much The wait staff is friendly and nice. It is a family Resturant so it is very casual . Tables or booths . They have a few slot machines now if you're in to that . Yes, this restaurant is not only a place you can take your mother on Mother's Day, but the name of the restaurant is called Mother's Day Restaurant. I'm sure they're found easily in the local online search for a spot to take mom's for Mother's Day! I found this restaurant while trying to find a breakfast spot on my way to North Riverside Mall. It's practically down the street from the mall in the cozy western suburb of North Riverside, Illinois. During the time I searched for it on Google, it had an average of 4.4 stars for its ratings. This was perfect and impromptu brunch spot to include in my 2024 Best Brunch Challenge! It's a nice joint with plenty of parking. The staff were friendly too. As expected, it was crowded for a Sunday morning, but surprisingly, we sat down right away. We were eating breakfast about 20 minutes of sitting down. My husband tried the Mexican Omelette and gave it a good review, but he didn't care too much for the pancakes. Yes, they look fluffy, however, when you bite into them, there was an extra texture - not rubbery, but there was some tension when you bite into the pancakes. Weird, but it was there. Once he added butter all over the pancakes, apparently that made it better. Ha Ha! I ate the french toast and skirt steak skillet. Both were good, however, the french toast was a little light on the nutmeg and / or cinnamon. The skirt steak skillet was really delicious. That was my first experience. They added all the best toppings too. Fluffy eggs, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, two different cheeses, including swiss. The portion size was large, so I took some home to eat the next day. The only surprising issue was the juice. Originally, I ordered the cranberry juice, and I had to send it back as it tasted too weak. Literally as if they got a glass of water and adding red food coloring. Yes, that bad! So the other choices were orange or apple juice. I was really trying to avoid acidic drinks, but I wanted some sort of flavor. I opted for the orange juice and that was somewhat better, but it tasted powdery. Needless to say I didn't finish it. If I'm in the area, I might try this restaurant again, but I'd definitely opt for a soda instead. read more

Ate it cause she was hungry. Israel, server, was Wonderful. Gave her 20% off the bill. I ordered a Patty Melt, Medium, grilled onion and blue cheese. To Die For! So Good! Then comes the disappointment yet again: Chocolate Fudge Cake, looks so Delish in that Glass Case, but cake DRY as a Bone! Yet the Fudge frosting so Delish. We split it and I ate it with my coffee so it wasn't so bad. Ambiance Family style. Friendly staff and clean place so give it a try. This place has been around forever. The worst 'meatloaf" I've had anywhere ever. It had the consistency of Gyro meat, sliced like Gyro meat, dry beyond belief, and salty as hell. If this was "the special" I can't imagine the dishes that are not the special. Most Greek restaurants have some of the best food. Even if the cooks are not Greek, they train them and they have high standards. Not here and not anymore. This place is nothing what it used to be and it's really sad. The staff were nice, but the food was the worst. Never again and definitely not for $22 including the rice pudding, which also is not what it used to be. As you can't mess up either but they are meh. I ordered oatmeal and a side of.sausage but wasn't too impressed with the taste at all. Mom order pancakes and bacon with eggs and they seemed good, but I didn't taste so I can't comment at all. The social distancing is good and they do adhere to rules of CDC and guidelines so in happy for that, but it just wasn't good to me. I wish I could say better but I can't. Again. My friend and I stopped in for lunch after a morning appointment at Loyola. Happy to find this diner that clearly has regulars and an extensive menu. We enjoyed our meals that had generous portions. Fresh Greek salad, chicken wild rice soup (not pictured), Bleu burger and sweet potato fries (not pictured) and spanakopita and gyros. Sweet treat strawberry shortcake was the perfect ending to a good meal. And yes we each had boxes of leftovers to take home. This is the kind of restaurant every neighborhood should have with good food, fast service, and regular customers. Food that warms the soul and friendly and efficient staff. Came here for breakfast on a Sunday. Was sat to our seats right away. Food came out quickly and was cooked perfectly literally didn't have to send anything back. I love places that have a diner feel with quality food. Only took 1 star off because of the ingredients in the omelette could've been cut a little smaller.some of them I ended up cutting them while eating my food. Stopped in for an early dinner, around 4:30, and it wasn't too crowded. Seated right away, and our server (named Raphaela, I think) was prompt, funny, and helpful. There is a large menu, but I couldn't find too many dinner items that met my dietary restrictions, being both a vegetarian and having to followed a gluten-free diet for health reasons. Our server suggested an egg dish, but I'd had eggs for breakfast and wanted a dinner entree. I was able to order an avocado salad and side of potatoes. My date ordered the chicken special. I'm not sure why, but it took an hour to get our meals. Our drinks were refilled several times, but it was nearly 5:30 by the time our food came out, which seemed like a long time for diner food. My salad was large and tasted fine. Prices are good. Plenty of free parking. Masks worn by staff, which was appreciated. Great classic Has everything restaurant! We got the shrimp and salad, soup and chicken dinner, and rice pudding. The food here is all homade and delicious. Large portions and prices are good. I have been going to MD since I was in HS and that whole time I loved their consistency! I know exactly what I am getting when I order and never am I disappointed. They are family run and know their regulars by name and are an active part in community activities. Comfort and familiarity are what you get. They handled Covid and are still around, thankfully for all of us. They make the best soups and their chicken soup is our go to when someone is sick. Chicken and rice Soup Sunday is also a thing!
