Don't skip!, might be one of my favorite quick dinner options.. We had bowls, and my group tried a variety from the menu, everyone loved what they had. The portion is great for the value, and the quality was really nice. Place was clean and vibrant. The service was good, you utilize a tablet to enter your order, which I like since I customized the bowl, and I was able to be picky with my order. Highly recommend, hopefully they open locations beyond CO!

I've been to motomaki a handful of times; a few in Boulder and then one at another location near Colorado Mills. Each time I've gone has been pretty consistently good. Parking at both locations can be kind of annoying, as the lots are shared with many other places to eat, and the lunch rushes can get a little crazy. Taking that into account, though, you can plan accordingly. Both locations are adequately staffed, clean, and the vibe has always been pretty laid back. I've not had a bad experience at either location in any capacity. Everyone's always super nice, meals are ready pretty quick, and most importantly, the food is always hot and fresh (or just fresh if you're getting something that's meant to be cold lol). The menu is pretty customizable as well, so there are a ton of options for any palate and the prices are fairly reasonable. They've also added self-checkout screens in the recent past which allows visitors to order themselves rather than going up to the counter. With this new addition, checking out has become quicker since there are more options for folks to order.

    1. Island Tuna Poke BOWL

This was a go-to lunch spot for me when working in Boulder. The staff has always been nice and efficient, the restaurant is clean with plenty of seating, and it is always fast and filling. My favorite bowls are the tempura shrimp bowl or the island tuna poke bowl, I usually get these with white rice or half rice half greens. They have tons of customization options, online ordering or a kiosk OR a human will take your order, never missed a modification to my bowl and always provided large portions. This is a solid meal every time, reasonably priced for a quality meal.

This place gave me more Asian fusion than an actual poke place. The fish was ok and I thought the cucumbers would be sliced thinner. The portion was big, but I don't think I'd ever come back here.

Not the most authentic place (part of me is like why bacon?? But then another part of me does not mind at all that bacon is there) but the fish is fresh and the serving sizes are pretty good. It is on the pricier side, but then again it's fish.

Sushi-rito with spicy tuna, cucumber, avocado, green onion, and fried onion

Ok I love this place. First of all I'd never had a sushi-rito before. And I was already psyched about that. However it was also just an amazing roll. I got the spicy tuna, which I usually avoid because it often has mayo in it. Not the case here, and it's delicious. I also loved the happy hour prices! Perfect post-hike late lunch. It was literally ~$15 total for a huge sushi-rito, and it was high quality. I'm bummed they don't have one of these closer to me in Denver, but 100% will be back. Often.

Hawaiian Salmon Poke Roll (with cream cheese)

This location is always super clean, has friendly staff, and the food is always tasty. The food is always fresh, and portioned decently. I always get the Hawaiian Salmon bowl or burrito. This is a great grab and go or quick meal spot in Boulder if you're feeling like something heavier than a roll of sushi but also you don't want to feel stuffed. There is shared parking with other shopping and food spots so during the lunch or dinner hours it can get pretty busy around, but you can always order ahead and pick up. I'd also use the app to rack up points and perks.

    Kalua Pork Bowl
    Lesley M.

Motomaki really hit the spot after our 2 hour hike! I ate the Kalua Pork Bowl, and it was delicious. A hearty serving of shredded pork, cucumbers, dicon, carrots, kimchi, and brown rice with a jalapeño dressing. The service was fast - we waited less than 10 minutes to get our food. The ambiance was nothing special, but we were too distracted by our food to worry much about that! Overall, we had a great experience, and I will definitely be going back for more the next time I'm in Boulder!

Good portions, but needs more variety of ingredients in the entrées themselves. Pricing is as expected for the area. Staff are nice, and the bathroom is clean :-) Good spot for a casual lunch!

Shrimp tempura burrito is like 1 big Sushi uncut, Love it!
    Lani P.

It's decent good fast food sushi, like what I'm use to growing up with in Hawaii. We've had places like this for over 4 decades, albeit not big sushi burrito ones, but it's not easy handheld friends because it falls apart from the nori being soaked and chewy. So it's messy, but I still like it than their basic bowls. It's a bit over priced these days and you see shrinkflation. As their burrito sushi has Shrinken lol we just came here for a snack since we ate early and I wanted to so our weekly Trader Joes shop in liberal hippy tree hugging city. I usually avoid this city like the plague since food is sub par and has gone down hill after the lockdowns. Over all, every now and then it's ok to get, but much better places out there.

They have a roasted barley tea I love that has no caffeine as made without a decaffeinating process and so different than herbals common in Boulder. It has real substance. As we started to eat our pork gyoza and Ebi shumai we saw a lit candle in some food being carried across the room. Having eaten here baby times over the year, we were surprised as we had never seen this here. The entire restaurant broke in singing happy birthday to someone too far for us to see. As a server was passing our table, I mentioned we were celebrating my husband's birthday too. He said meh!d let someone know. As we were waiting for our dessert later, the owner who we've met before , with one of the servers who was carrying an ice cream mochi with a flaming birthday candle arrived and placed it in front of my husband and all the patrons broke out in sing again! Who knew this was a tradition here? The owner, who is almost always on the floor had an instant camera and too a picture of our table with the candle celebration. He made a copy for us to take home and one for nh husband to sign which will go up on some wall I had never noticed. We'll be sure to check in the walk the next time we are in.
